I'm new to the Android customization world and was wondering if it is possible to flash this Nexus 4 image as it is to a Galaxy S3, since I really don't like Touch Wiz (my previous phone was a Nexus S running JB).

I just bought a Samsung Nexus $G LTE phone for Verizon. Previous owner installed a custom cyanogenmod kernel. I don't care for this kernel or setup, how do I install the stock factory Verizon image? Is there an easy way to do it without bricking the phone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 which is bootloader unlocked and rooted. The USB port is partially faulty - it charges only at USB speed and is not detected as a device on my laptop. I've tried multiple cables, wall sockets and computers.
I do however have TWRP already installed.
Considering that fastboot from the PC is not an option (becase of the USB issue), can I run the fastboot commands inside the Terminal Command section of TWRP to flash a factory image of Android 4.3 ?
I'm asking because I've only seen guides to install recoveries, not ROMs via Terminal Command on phone.
Nexus 7 32 GB 3G. I've had root and i made an update many times without any problem, but once i was making some update of 4.2.2 the device didn't want to turn on and it freezed on Google logo. I tried to do plenty of ways to repair it; unroot, factory reset, wipe... Then i tried to do a flash via Nexus 7 Toolkit,How can i do the flash without enabled USB debugging? Is there any way to evade it? Or can I enable USB debugging from my PC for example?

View 7 Replies View RelatedDamn, I cannot remember the commands & neither can I find them on Cyanogen's forum anymore Can somebody let me know the commands needed to install a new radio image file from the computer onto the phone, or point me towards a thread via hyperlink?I have got as far as putting the file "radio.img" into the Superboot folder of my computer & run the required commands to make sure the computer can detect the phone (fastboot-windows devices) but just cannot get any further.

Its need a factory reset, the problem, is that I get in recovery, but, only get the android with red exclamation, I try a lot of combination with buttons but cant get the menu, Try a wipe with adb but cant enter adb shell, its say - exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
Cant enter fastboot or anything else. And dont know anything about this tablet, I search with cant find any rom or anything.
How to flash the ROM back to the original factory setup.
The instructions say:
Download the "Stock Asus Rom-and-bootloader.zip" available in the "Download" Section.
It includes the Asus Vcom Drivers, Flash Tools and the Stock Firmware (Rom, Locked Bootloader, etc)
Tablet MUST BE TURNED OFF, and with full battery The VCOMM Drivers MUST be installed
Then it has you connect the tablet to a PC. Do I download the .zip file to the PC? Do I install the VCOMM drivers to the Memo Pad HD 7??

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo a while back, I used adb to put android 4.4 kitkat onto my Nexus 4 (unrooted) for the first time. Normally I would wait for OTA updates but not in this case. So, when I did that the google play store wasn't working. I was annoyed, and went to loads of forums and every time I posted a thread I would get no response. Google customer support's only advice was to factory reset. So I waited a few weeks until recently when the 4.4.2 update came out, so I tried installing it and there was an error. After even more posting to forums, and still no responses (strangely they were all active forums) I just now had to do a factory reset. However, I can't sign into google (it says that there was a problem communicating with Google servers and to try again later, and when I press next the message repeats infinitely until I press the home button.) and also my google play services are apparently incompatible with my device?

I tried to uninstall lastly installed app, but the device restarted every time I tried to do something with it. Then i tried to reset it from the settings>>backup & Restore. but no gain. the device was as it was before.
then i tried with system recovery mode. it opened with an error message
did not match sized 'system/csc/common/system/csc/default_workplace.xml' (No data found)
despite tht I performed "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"
it said to have completed the above operation, no further error message. I rebooted the system... but no gain.. same as before.. not a single change. and the "restarting problem" was ther.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was messing with my Samsung Galaxy S the other day and came across the Pattern Lock. I thought it was pretty cool so I decided to use it. So I came up with a pattern immediately and, without any thought, I accepted the design I made (It was a complicated one) and forgot what it was right after. I know at some point after failing to enter the correct pattern you get to a "Username" and "Password" box for your Gmail and/or Google account, but, Since my device runs strictly off WiFi and WiFi is turned off I can't sign in. I also tried force resetting my device but it doesn't work like all the videos on YouTube show.

1. During the Google Login screen, I can't access my notification bar, therefore, I can't turn WiFi or anything else on.
2. I tried the different variations of: Turning off device. Holding Volume up+Home Button+Power Button. The "Samsung" logo pops up, vibrates once, and the screen turns pitch black all while still holding buttons and nothing just happens to happen after. When I release the buttons, the device boots up normally but I end up back at the Google login screen.
3. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back, doesn't really affect anything.
4. I tried plugging my device into my computer, but since I'm trapped at the Google lock screen, I don't have the option of connecting "Mass Storage Device" to my computer.
5. I tried adb shell (or whatever the command is) into Command Prompt and it doesn't detect my device. I have all the drivers installed for the device but because I don't have the option of tapping "Connect Mass Storage to Computer" it doesn't sync in with my computer. It just charges my device as if it were a wall charger.
My last resort option was coming to Android Central. Otherwise I'll just go to Radioshack or various other stores and see what they can do if anything at all at least.
I have an AT&T Galaxy S4 I337 that I have been running Cyanogenmod on for quite a while now. Well, after getting bored and wanting to revert to the original firmware, I went through the process of a factory reset to stock through Odin. Everything went smoothly, all that's left is to update to 4.4.2 Kitkat and to root my phone once again. I went into settings and began the OTA update thinking it would install 4.4.2. After about 20 minutes of updating and downloading, my phone finally finished rebooting, but when I checked to see what version of android I was running, it was still 4.2.2. Kies also says that I'm running the latest firmware. Why won't my phone or Kies pick up the new Kitkat update? Does it have something to do with the fact that I flashed a custom ROM before?

BTW, I had no problems flashing pa to my Nexus 4&10 and loving that rom.

It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. I also don't want to restore to factory default because i don't want to loose all my photos.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been flashing custom ROMs recently and I like to clean flash a new version each time.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3.
I use CWM Recovery, when I want to erase everything before flashing a new ROM, I "wipe data/factory reset" 3 times, then wipe cache, then wipd Davlik. I then flash the new ROM.
I havent been having any problems with any of the new ROMs.
But after I flash a new ROM and got into my phone's internal SD card storage, all my old files are still there. Any photos I stored, files Ive downloaded via web browser, voice recording files, they're all still there. I understand that factory reset usually doesn't affect the external SD card, but my internal SD card isn't wiped either.
Is this normal? Is it ok to leave these old files there when flashing a new ROM or should I be trying to absolutely get rid of everything prior to fllashing a new ROM?

I'm running 4.4.2 on nexus 5. All I'm trying to do is put a custom carrier logo image in the top left of my status bar. I used the method in this thread- [URL] to do it. Although this is for ICS roms specifically, I compared both status_bar.xml's from KK and ICS and they are VERY simlar. So I figured this would work. I like to do most of my themeing with the use of zip themer so I built a custom image (yes, its the correct size) called "carrier_logo.png" and stuck it my drawable-xxhdpi folder and added that line of code to my status_bar.xml and flashed the update.zip. When I reboot, the phone is in chaos and I get a repeated message over and over that systemUI has stopped, plus my status bar is completely gone lol. I'm assuming that line of code is just not compatible with KK systemui. So...how do I go about calling an image from my drawable-xxhdpi folder into the status bar's top left corner from my status_bar.xml?
