I'm currently running OS 2.3.4 and just recently I've noticed there's a spot on the top right of my home screen that when i move an icon to that area the icon disappears. I can arrange icon all around that spot and everything's fine, but when I try to put an icon in the spot it disappears. So now I have a blank spot on my home where i can't place an icon.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI notice on my EVO that on certain parts of the screen it seems to dip and has " soft spots". It's likely to assume that all EVOS were made the same so I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this. When holding the phone in landscape mode, I feel a dipping sensation when sliding my thumb at around the top right and bottom corner of the phone, also towards the center of the screen. Or just sliding my finger around the screen or pressing/ typing. In general I can feel the soft spots.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a droid x, and about 5 days after, i got a red dot, about the size of a pin head (i am assuming a pixel or something) that was REALLY bright, and stayed present no matter what wallpaper i had up, or anything like that. so i exchanged it, and the same thing happened, just in a different spot on the screen and the dot was green, this one lasted almost two weeks, SO i went back in and exchanged it, and again, same issue, different location and the dot was blue. this dot was not right in the middle of the screen ever, but it was fairly close to it, and literally the size of a needle point, smaller than .7mm pencil lead, but it was REALLY bright and stood out over everything and i found it annoying and couldnt deal with it.

View 44 Replies View RelatedI'm on EVO #2 now. #1 failed after what I believe to be an overheating issue when using outside for a couple hours. So today I'm at the Red Bull Flugtag taking pics and video. Its warm(HOT)...after a couple hours I notice that I now have a dead touch spot on my screen. If you were to divide the screen into 4 quadrants...the lower left quadrant is now 100% completely unresponsive to touch. Rebooted, took the battery out, did a hard reset like Sprint advised all to no avail. I'm now on the waiting list again at BB.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter destroying my camera flash with with some app i managed to destroy also my LCD screen. I forgot to take my phone out my back pocket and sat down. Now the phone has a black spot in the middle for the LCD screen.
Do you think I should send it HTC service for warranty and let them replace the screen (guess it will be expensive) or should I replace it by myself?
i've installed Nova launcher on my tablets and phone and love it but there's one issue I can't seem to find anything about.
I set my launch screen to have say 7wide*5high icons then this will look good in landscape but when rotating to portrait the amount of icons is rotated also so it's at 7 wide and 5 high even though the aspect ratio has flipped. I don't get why launchers don't just rotate the icons on the spot so that it looks good in one rotation and not the other.
Every now and then, I get this weird screen when I press the home button on my Galaxy W.The only way to exit this screen is to press the back button. Sometimes pressing the home button again will bring me back to this screen.The first few times it did this, it prompted me to run it through either Accuweather or Clock. After I deleted Accuweather, it defaulted to running through Clock, as seen in my task manager.

I'm going to deploy 30 android tablets to a classroom in the College where I work, and since I love android, i'd rather not see this little experiment fail. Through a combination of "App Lock" and a widely distributed MDM, I have been able to accomplish most of my requirements, however i'd still like to be able to lock down the home screen, in particular, remove the ability for users to change the wallpaper (I have a nightmare that this feature would be abused from day one!).
I have looked at using different launchers (tried Apex and Smart Launcher) which nicely lock down the home screen, but they still allow users to change the launcher preferences which makes that approach a bit pointless.
Is it possible to remove the home screen from a rom with android 2.3.4 and sense 2.1, by editing the rom itself.
I know that the android version 2.3.4 (cool ic sense) doesn't allow this function, as it was added later in newer android versions (or sense versions?).
Either way, is it possible to go inside the rom and edit the sense launcher, so that it only shows 3 screens for example.
The Home sample in the android sdk doesn't implement the Add item, which bring up the "Add to home screen" popup window, and Notifivcations item in onCreateOptionsMenu and onOptionsItemSelected. How to do that like the default home?

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.
Is there a way to set the which of the home screens the phone goes to when you hit the home button?

If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).

The versions on the home screen are tiny and I can't get them to expand, I'm not sure if I'm overlooking a setting or something.
I did a google search and turned up nothing but I keep seeing images of people having expanded dashclock looking widgets on their homescreen so it must be possible. :/
I hid the clock hoping that'd force them underneath it and expanded but nada.
Can you undo an action like erasing a folder on the home screen? I accidentally erased a folder on the home screen but couldn't find any undo feature in Android. I had to recreate the folder.

Is there another way - eg some settings menus somewhere or maybe a file that I can edit.

The old symbian phone displays the area/location on home screen, even if the GPS/GPRS is not activated. This is provided by the network operator. I am missing the same in my Android phone.
Even My Location option does not display the area/location on homescreen, it displays only the Network operator name.
I tried looking for apps, but all are for displaying the operator's name but not location. I can check my location using any GPS application, but those does not display it on my home screen along with Operators name. I want it similar to my Nokia N81 where the operator name and area name are displayed.
