After destroying my camera flash with with some app i managed to destroy also my LCD screen. I forgot to take my phone out my back pocket and sat down. Now the phone has a black spot in the middle for the LCD screen.
Do you think I should send it HTC service for warranty and let them replace the screen (guess it will be expensive) or should I replace it by myself?

I have a slideshow function in my app and if the number of images is more, the phone locks (screen goes black) in the middle of the slideshow. How can I avoid this in my app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I received an OTA with 2.2.1. After unpacking and installing the update my phone rebooted as normal. When booting the Nexus-logo appears, but afterwards the display remains black. There are indications that the phone boots up as normal, as I can hear the sounds (ex emergency-call) when pressing the display. The display works perfect in boot-menu (rescue etc)
I've tried to do a factory reset and pulled out the battery several times to try to reset - all with no luck.
In addition I've placed an update.zip on the sd-card in order to perform a new manual update, but after choosing recovery, my phone restarts and the screen turns black. Any idea how to solve this?
I was just wondering if anyone new what the symbol on top middle screen that looks like a ph shaking a ph with 2 lines either side?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter buying a HTC Desire in August, I've been very happy with it. The best phone I have ever owned. And after rooting it and installing LeeDroid's 1.9a ROM, I've been enjoying the tweaks and a2sd+. Anyway, I have a Telus Desire which I unlocked and am using with Fido. I followed this guide to root and this to install the LeeDroid ROM.
Ever since then, however, I have not been flash any new ROMs. When I flash a new ROM using ROM Manager, it goes to the white screen with the HTC in green then the screen/phone just shuts off becoming unresponsive until I take the battery out then in again. When I open ROM Manager, it gives me a pop-up that says "Recovery Failure" with three lines which say:
- Recovery mode is "broken".
- ROM Manager doesn't reboot.
- Other.
I tried to reload the clockwork recovery using ROM Manager and Unrevoked. Didn't seem to fix the issue. There is an official OTA update that I couldn't install due to the same issue. If you have any input as to how I should fix this issue
Several times now my Desire's screen has just stayed black when pressing the power key to unlock it. It's like it's in a deep sleep with no way to wake it. If you call it the screen will not light up but the phone will either ring with no way of answering it or just flash the missed call light. The call can still be silenced or rejected with the buttons.
So my question is this a hardware or software issue? I'm inclined to think software because pulling the battery then rebooting solves it, until it happens again, sometimes the same day others a few days later. I always switch the phone off at night to give it a fresh start each day. I do not use any task killers or obscure apps. Phone has minimal virgin mobile UK branding on it, and running firmware 1.15.405.4 with no option to update to the newly released version.
I have a problem with the new HTC Desire HD.
When I make a call the screen goes blank, but I cannot get it back again, even if I press the button on the top of the phone. None of the other touch button function either meaning the only way to finish a call is to pull the battery out!
Last night i was on the Ebay app on my desire i finished looking at some items i sold then i sat it down to let it charge. a few minutes later i got a text or email so i push the power button on top and this is what i saw.. Sorry for the quality. I have no idea what has caused this. I left the battery out over night and it still does it. I can still hear notifications and what not just cant see anything. The phone is less than a month old. I have never dropped it or anything. Its flawless, not a scratch on it. It seems like every time i get a new phone something odd like this happens to it. I also have been hearing alot of android phones have been causing ppl problems. I believe i can get it fixed through warranty. Has anyone have a clue what caused this? is it a hardware or software issue?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMY SITUATION: My phone was rooted with unrevoked3. I tried to install one of the modaco ROMS and did not realize that it was incompatible with my phone because my Desire has a newer type of screen (not amoled) but SLCD. This caused the phone screen to go black on start up and be unresponsive. It was frightening because at first the HTC bootscreen (green HTC on white) had black streaks through it , then goes black. But don't worry it is easily redeemed in below instructions. You need the latest ROM in zip form, put onto your phone and run recovery. Sweet as suzi, you will be debranded (if you were in the process of doing this , remember to make your gold card).
ISSUE:
1. Desire screen not switching on at all even though phone switches on.
2. Phone boots but doesn't go beyond bootloader/recovery/fastboot
3. Can get into recovery even though nothing comes on screen (test: press volume down and power. Wait for 10 seconds. Press volume down. Press power. Phone should vibrate. Wait 20 seconds. Phone should now be in recovery mode.)
4. Can get into fastboot (back+power)
5. No goldcard
CAUSE of ORIGINAL AUTHOR'S ISSUE:
I had Aura Sense7.9+AlphaRev S-Off. Cause::Ran a very old RUU just because I wanted to bring things back to stock. The RUU overwrote my HBOOT from 0.93 to god knows what. Turned out, the RUU was for amoled screens and not for SLCD screen. So even though the phone turned on, the screen never did......
I have a bit of an issue where the screen fades to black (almost immediately) whilst I'm on a call - either handheld or using bluetooth, and its a wee bit annoying!?!?
Oftentimes I need to access either the keypad (ie. for deleting answerphone messages etc) or calendar etc whilst on a call and its basically locks and I have to slide down and do my unlock code to get access?
Is there any way to stop this and force the phone to just show the call screen throughout any call?
Just got a new case for my Desire off eBay. When I have the Desire all the way inserted in the case and try to call a number, the screen goes BLACK. Yet the call can still be heard going through. I am NOT able to get it back no matter what button I press. Not even with POWER OFF for several seconds! Yet... if I push the phone up half an inch (see pic), the screen goes back every time and the buttons work. Did I mention that the screen is fine when the phone is fully inserted in the case, it only goes black when I make a call using the dialer?
I checked and none of the buttons seem to be depressed when the phone is in the case. Even if they were, it should not cause the screen to lock up like that in black, and the buttons as well.
just tried to root my phone and its stuck on a black screen with a pic of a desire with a red triangle with an exlimation mark in it! have i bricked my phone?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently tried to root my HTC desire using UNrevoked 3.1. Everything was going well and I even had the desktop gui tell me that the process was "done", however the phone never made it into the green and black recovery menu, and now when I try and enter the recovery menu the phone gives a black screen. I then have to do a hard reset by taking out the battery. I have tried running unrevoked again with the same results and have tried using Rom manager to enter recovery this way, niether of which have helped.
I've spent alot of time searching without answers, if any one thinks they can help or just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
I was just sending a text and all of a sudden i had the black screen of death and then the phone seemed to reboot itself with an image of a red triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle of it
I proceeded to try and turn the phone off but it gave me lots of options with a white screen, i couldn't get it to do anything so i took the battery out and then it started normally.
Ive had the evo for about a week, and the operating system seemed to be acting a bit buggy but i put a fix on that real quick. now a persisting issue i have is that there is a line going down the middle of my screen on every page no matter where i go. i didnt have it for about a day or so and it seems to be some kind of seperation or something.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI notice on my EVO that on certain parts of the screen it seems to dip and has " soft spots". It's likely to assume that all EVOS were made the same so I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this. When holding the phone in landscape mode, I feel a dipping sensation when sliding my thumb at around the top right and bottom corner of the phone, also towards the center of the screen. Or just sliding my finger around the screen or pressing/ typing. In general I can feel the soft spots.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a droid x, and about 5 days after, i got a red dot, about the size of a pin head (i am assuming a pixel or something) that was REALLY bright, and stayed present no matter what wallpaper i had up, or anything like that. so i exchanged it, and the same thing happened, just in a different spot on the screen and the dot was green, this one lasted almost two weeks, SO i went back in and exchanged it, and again, same issue, different location and the dot was blue. this dot was not right in the middle of the screen ever, but it was fairly close to it, and literally the size of a needle point, smaller than .7mm pencil lead, but it was REALLY bright and stood out over everything and i found it annoying and couldnt deal with it.

My activity is transparent so background activity will be visible. Whenever I try to create a webview and add it to activity using setContentView(webview) it always shows the view on the top left corner of the screen. View 44 Replies View RelatedI'm on EVO #2 now. #1 failed after what I believe to be an overheating issue when using outside for a couple hours. So today I'm at the Red Bull Flugtag taking pics and video. Its warm(HOT)...after a couple hours I notice that I now have a dead touch spot on my screen. If you were to divide the screen into 4 quadrants...the lower left quadrant is now 100% completely unresponsive to touch. Rebooted, took the battery out, did a hard reset like Sprint advised all to no avail. I'm now on the waiting list again at BB.

Before when in the middle of a call or to hang up a call i just pull the phone away from my head and the screen would come on... or, i would have to use the power up button on the top of the device then swipe to unlock. Now in the middle of a call the power button is not working nor does the screen illuminate when i pull away from my head.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

I have only one (BIG) problem with my phone: When I finish a call and I want to press "END CALL", screen goes black for few second while am constantly pressing the place on the screen where "END CALL" red button should be. Then the screen comes alive for the split of second and goes black again. Sometimes takes 10 seconds to finish a call. Many times in the process I call the same number again. What am I doing wrong?
