Ive been getting duplicate email notifications ( google), as well as text messages. How do I fix that? I dont have handcent, Ive heard lots of problemsw/ that. Im new to Droid there's so much to learn. thanks in advance for any feedback.

When I receive text messages they are coming in both the OEM messaging app as well as the HandScent app. I have Handscent set as my default messaging app but I still get the notifications in both apps. I have Droid1, rooted using HandScent for texting. How do I stop messages from going into the OEM messaging app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with sms notifications. I'm running the custom rom listed below. previously i had "missed call" which had been giving me duplicate sms notifications (with local notifications off), i then uninstalled that along with the sms, mms apps which I replaced with handcent, which also has custom led notifications for sms.
Now I have two things going on, one- there is a little sms icon, just like the one from missed call, sans the red # mark, that always stays in notification area, and when i pull down not. menu it reads 0 sms. So, why is it there? Is it part of Handcent? Handcent uses the icon I picked from it's menu, which is different than what's in the not. bar.
two- still getting 2 sms not. ringtones, first one is default, i think, second one is one I selected, just one new notification though, which is the one I picked.
Now, I still have a ringtone under main settings>notification ringtones, which I assumed I would need for emails, but may hap that is cause of dual ringtones for sms messages, as I have one selected in handcent. ok just got a brainstorm, disable not. ringtone in handcent, but leave custom led, then leave ringtone in settings menu, which should alert for both. I would like to have different ringtones though, for text and email, but missed call was giving me issues, like dual notifications, not audible, but in bar, one i would always have to clear which became annoying. Also, I really like the custom led's, but when there is more than one alert, it just defaults to green, instead of displaying one color, then another.
side question- is there a way, or an app, to make separate ringtones for sms and email? yeah, missed call, i know about that one already, if someone was able to troubleshoot similar prob (dual notifications, with droid one OFF), then I would gladly listen, I used it fine before, maybe it has something to do with the rom I'm using, everything else works perfect with it though.
Anyone have a workaround for this yet, sorry if it was already posted in a diffrent thread.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two accounts configured on my Droid X 2.1 - gmail and a corporate activex account. I get notifications for a new email coming into gmail but nothing in corporate. Under settings - accounts - corporate, I do see calendar, contacts and email are checked to sync. Also under settings -> data mgr, I have data push enabled and the fetch schedule is the minimum 15 minutes.However, if I have push enabled, I expect the email should notify immediately. Right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat's your work around for e-mail notifications in the middle of the night. I really don't want to change setting every night just to set them back each morning. (the phone sits in the docking station on the nightstand). I guess I could just silent phone with the volume shortcut on the side of the phone, however if I receive a call or text in the middle of the night 99% of the time it is truly important. As stupid as it is, I have the crank yankers "I got mail" notification for my e-mail accounts for work and home. My wife says that if it goes off one more time in the night (lately about 3-4 times a night, & at all hours) she is going to smash my phone. Half the time it doesn't wake me up, and if it does, I can fall back asleep no problem. But for the sake of keeping wifey happy, I have to come up with a solution.

Right now, the only way I can figure out to avoid it is to delete my email account from my phone. Most of my email is garbage so I don't need to hear a sound everytime a spam mail comes through. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had this happen to me twice now over the past week. It seems that periodically my notification sounds will stop. I will see that I have new emails but never heard the sound. I will then go send myself a test text message and it will vibrate but make no sound. I've made sure all my volumes are up, and even went in to pick a notification sound and it will work fine in the sound chooser when I pick it.
I also noticed both times that it did this if I go in to Spare Parts or Battery History and look my phone is staying awake and Android Usage is the one with the partial wake lock. Generally I don't have any sleep issues, it only happens when my notification sounds have also quit working. The only way to fix it is power off and back on and then all is good again.
Can u receive emails notifications that pertain to a text message u just recently received? Whether its sms, or mms? Some people would wonder why I would want an email for all my text message. Received but I have my reasons for asking. Has anyone attempted to do this? If so, How?

I have tried different profile applications but it looks like they just generically turn off "notifications" which looks like both email and SMS notifications. I know I can go in and manually silence the email and the other notifications each time but I wanted to find an easier way. I get important SMS messages from work at all hours but thats all I want to hear.

I assume one notification is from the FB website and the second is from the FB App? Anyway, I temporarily deleted the FB App and second notifications stopped. How do I delete applications I downloaded I don't want anymore
My environment is:
1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
I've got duplicate ringtones in the phone and notifications menu settings. These ringtones were acquired from marketplace apps and saved. For instance, I have two 'Hello sir C3PO', three 'Incoming transmission', two 'Resistance is futile', and five 'You belong with me'. That's what I get for letting the kids play.
Anyway, I have removed the apps, but, I cannot find the files to remove the duplicates from the menu list. I've checked the /system/media/audio files and checked the SD card and cannot find them.
Installed Launcher Pro and love it.Extremely fast on my phone.The only problem I am having is that I do not get e-mail notifications for Yahoo or Hotmail.Handcent notifications work fine.As soon as I switch back to Sense, the notifications show up.Any ideas why this happens in Launcher Pro.I want to use it, but if I cant get e-mail notifications it is a no deal.
View 8 Replies View RelatedDid a search, didn't find what I'm looking for. I have only one email account, a gmail account, set up on my Eris. I would have my Yahoo set up as well, but for some reason it says my account info is wrong. Anyway, I get 1 notification for each of the email systems in the phone. 1 seems to be through HTC or a widget or something, 1 is the gmail app or whatever it's called. I've only had this phone for 3 days, and I love it. If it's any help, I'd like to only use the htc one as the keyboard seems more responsive as far as the auto-correction goes, and the layout is more simple and easier for me to read.

It doesn't seem to matter what the source email is (gmail, hotmail, etc). Some emails are ok some are not. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?

I started getting duplicate sms messages in both handcent and the stock text messaging app. So i wiped data/cache and tried it again and got the same thing. So today i downgraded to 2.3.13 to see if it would fix it...same issue. Can anybody tell me why im getting duplicate sms message all of a sudden?
