View 5 RepliesCan anyone confirm if Google Navigation can be used to just show your progress/location on a road while driving, without having to have an actual destination input?I know this was shown on a few of Rob's videos as not being possible, but just wanted to confirm if anyone had any further info on it.

I don't get it.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI used to have the little blue arrow icon and used it to navigate more than once. At some point my little blue navigator icon disappeared. I do have google maps and can pull up what I need no problem. I enter in Bryant-Denny Stadium Tuscaloosa Alabama. Pulls up Bryant-Denny, wants to show me pictures, I can call, save, share. I can change my route options, change to public transit, bicycle all that fun stuff but no where do I see the option to navigate. I see a little GPS icon which if I click just shows me where I am. What has happened to my phone this is driving me nuts. I'm on Android version 4.1.1 and maps 7.1.0. I'm a computer nerd I don't see how they expect normal people to use this stuff if they keep moving things around and changing things..

basically im looking for a way to put the same bar on the wifes advent vega, its currently running froyo, i could update it to hc or ics but if i do it causes problems with the touchscreen.
is it possible to do this or something like this? as getting out of games and certain apps can be a right pain, or can i remap the home button for long press to home screen or something?
My GPS and navigation is not working after i have done factory data reset...... my net connection is ok but still showing location unavilable.....
View 2 Replies View RelatedOriginally I was going to ask about an issue of listening to music (either Pandora or HTC Music App) and using the Nav (google maps.) Before froyo, I could listen to either Pandora or HTC Music App over my car's BT, when a new nav direction would come on, the music would fade in then out. This thread suggests that it's an issue with either/both apps. Suggests that bmusic app (I've never used this) works for this purpose. Did not seem to offer a fix for Pandora; only that it seems it would need an update from them to fix.
My other issue is hearing the nav directions when my car stereo is set to something other than bluetooth audio. Effectively, it seems that the car is viewed the same as earphones. This way, when they're connected, audio will not play via the phone's speaker. If I'm listening to either the radio, CD, or USB I simply don't hear the instructions -- the phone still outputs to these bluetooth "headphones", but the stereo isn't set to that output. As I gather, my two options are:
turn off BT
under options, turn off BT audio only
both of these options should make it so that I can listen to any other audio I wish, and listen to directions via the phone's speaker. Turning the BT on and off is a pain, but fairly easy as I've got a toggle button on my primary home screen. However, it means that I'd have to forgo handsfree BT phone while listening to other types of audio.......
I'm looking for an app that will navigate while I'm driving, and take traffic into account. Kind of like the at&t navigator, but without having to pay a subscription fee.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I launch Navigation, I'm given four methods of choosing a location: "Speak Destination", "Type Destination", "Go home", and "Map". Clicking on "Map" brings me to a map view (cool)... which doesn't actually let me select a destination (WTF). Is this bug present only in Jelly Bean? I can't believe it wouldn't have been caught earlier otherwise.
Oh, launching Maps and long-pressing on a point allows me to select it and set it as a destination for Navigation. Ironic that this functionality is missing from Navigation itself.
Is there a fix for this, or is Maps the only way to select a destination by clicking on a map?
Is there any way to move navigation bar in tablet on top of screen instead of bottom?

Stock Android 4.3 rooted

I have a Verizon wireless, Motorola Droid Razr that came with "Navigation". It works well for me.
I have recently moved and need to change my "home" address.
I drive a VW Jetta with bluetooth, which has easily paired with my last two phones (Bionic and S4, respectively). While Google map's turn-by-turn map navigation works fine with my phone's bluetooth on, in so far as I can see directions on the map, the navigation voice is disabled. Only when my phone's bluetooth is off do I hear a voice. I'm not sure if this is a function of my phone or my car.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it at all possible? We want to put non-button Views in our System Bar. We do have system keys for our specific tablet.
One of my friends tried doing it with no success, but I assume he was looking in the wrong places. I don't know what he knows about the process, so I can't say what we've tried.
We're using Android 4.2 .
I guess I should also mention that we've tried this app - [URL] ..... though we haven't been able to find any info on how he got it to work.
Looking for a navigation app with no "Internet access" permission. Maps will probably be loaded manually...
I've spent some time at the market with no results. I'm looking for an old fashioned solution where you simply load in a map into your device (manually), the GPS reciever takes the required signals from the sky and shows your coordinates on the map. That's it.
No internet connection, no fancy 'in store purchases', simply a man and his interactive map- just like my grandpappy used to do back in 1845.
I got Cyanogenmod 11 (the latest nightly) on my Nexus 5, and I use Nova Launcher Prime.
What I am trying to do right now is to get rid of the navigation buttons at the bottom completely (instead I use Pie Control)
So far I am using the expanded desktop mode, however, that doesn't work nearly as good as I hoped it would.
The problems are that a transparent NavBar appears quite often, when I use the keyboard they reappear and take space.
So far I tried to solve it with different launchers (but without success). I tried to use apps like ultimate dynamic NavBar or GMD auto hide softkeys. All they do is put another layer of Navigation Buttons on top of the already existing Nav Bar.
I also tried to use Full!screen, and that worked pretty nicely, but the problem was that it always also disabled the status bar (which I want to keep).
change the Navigationbar order in this systemui i attached?
left is back, middle is home, right is recent.
back should be on the right and recent on the left.
So added this code URL.... to hide nav keys on app but when pressing physical volume buttun or power button, which shows an item on screen, the video ratio changes then returns to normal when item from screen disappers. This is when on landscape view. Also when returning to portrait view, the nav bar is hidden untill I press the screen. No probelm on phones with no navigation keys.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen using Google Maps Navigation, how do you get it so as you're following the directions the maps is viewed at and angle so you can see further ahead on the map. Also how do you have the screen/map turn as the car turns?
Right now it's just looking down and with no angle/tilt on the arrow and the orientation stays "north up" all the time. It used to do this.
I am talking about the defauly google navigation app that comes with droid. I know there is someway when you go to 'type destination' that you can get it to predict the address name, how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want a map - How do you get the thing to *NOT* tilt when you go to navigation? Can't believe there isn't a built in option (like on Earth) on a settings menu.
SGIII, all latest updates. No, the two finger drag does nothing when in navigation other than move the map.
Maybe only way is to go BACK a version of maps and get rid of it?
is there an app that allows that ? What I want to do is to control an mp3 player with voice while a navigation app is in foreground. I'm in my car with Route66 navigation app running, and would want to go to next track by saying "next".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with Google Navigation on my SGS3 from US Cellular. Now, I understand that the volume has been merged together with the media volume, and that's not really my issue.
When I enter Google Navigation, the media volume reads correctly. (I jacked it up to full volume just to test this out. It reads full volume when I start GN.) But when a turn-by-turn direction reads, the volume is really low. If I hit the volume up button during the TTS directions, it shows that the media volume is set very low. I can turn it up while the direction is speaking, and the media volume does increase. But the next time a direction begins saying something, it's quiet and the volume is reset really low again. I have to keep turning the volume up for each turn-by-turn direction!
When I exit GN, the media volume is back to full blast again, just as it was before I entered the app. So, it's obviously something GN is doing. I just don't get why it won't remember my volume setting when I turn it up.
ETA: I tested this again, and it's only a problem if I have a media player fired up. I use n7. When it kills the volume for the media player, it does so for the navigation, too.
Unfortunately, even if I close n7, the volume is still ruined until I stop and restart my Bluetooth connection. If I start Bluetooth and run navigation without the media player, tts works fine.
Apparently the audio issue where it keeps turning my volume down is only when it's not connected to Bluetooth in my car.
I have found myself resetting to factory default, and having to reconfigure the settings all the time, for example, in System Settings > Navigation > Navigation bar. Is there a way of backing these up, and restoring?
