Dec 10, 2009I seem to be having problems locating icons for apps installed via HTC Sync.
After installation, icons for the programs don't appear in the programs list. I've confirmed they're installed, as they show up in the manage apps list. Any programs installed via the Market show up on the programs list.

May 2, 2012I have a epic 4g rooted, stock rom, seems that when i go to the market, it does not show the apps that i have installed and/or the ones that i purchased. additionally, if i were to delete one of these missing apps, they still dont show up in the market/google play. I have attempted to use various market enablers, but this has not solved my issue. on another note, and perhaps related, when i use titanium backup only one app shows setcpu, while previously it was working.

Jul 22, 2010Anyone know of any navigation apps besides the google ones and the stock carrier one?(i have sprint). I dont know maybe its just my phone but i made a simple drive earlier in clear coverage areas and Sprint Navigation just kept re-routing over and over again and when it wasnt it would jsut sit there and not do nothing until i tapped the screen then it would spring back to life with directions that were hit and miss. Is the GPS really that terrible on thsi phone? Sprint Navigation worked perfect on my blackberrys and even the Palm Pre.

Right now it's just looking down and with no angle/tilt on the arrow and the orientation stays "north up" all the time. It used to do this.

General :: Google Navigation Keeps Turning Media Volume Down
Feb 25, 2013I'm having some trouble with Google Navigation on my SGS3 from US Cellular. Now, I understand that the volume has been merged together with the media volume, and that's not really my issue.
When I enter Google Navigation, the media volume reads correctly. (I jacked it up to full volume just to test this out. It reads full volume when I start GN.) But when a turn-by-turn direction reads, the volume is really low. If I hit the volume up button during the TTS directions, it shows that the media volume is set very low. I can turn it up while the direction is speaking, and the media volume does increase. But the next time a direction begins saying something, it's quiet and the volume is reset really low again. I have to keep turning the volume up for each turn-by-turn direction!
When I exit GN, the media volume is back to full blast again, just as it was before I entered the app. So, it's obviously something GN is doing. I just don't get why it won't remember my volume setting when I turn it up.
ETA: I tested this again, and it's only a problem if I have a media player fired up. I use n7. When it kills the volume for the media player, it does so for the navigation, too.
Unfortunately, even if I close n7, the volume is still ruined until I stop and restart my Bluetooth connection. If I start Bluetooth and run navigation without the media player, tts works fine.
Apparently the audio issue where it keeps turning my volume down is only when it's not connected to Bluetooth in my car.
General :: Google Maps Navigation - GPS Not Updating Map Position
Oct 15, 2013When using Google maps, if I set a destination and navigate to it, the ma just sits there and doesn't move when I drive off, nor does my location on it.
However if I stay on Google maps, and drive about my position is updated correctly but obviously I can't navigate that way.
I tried mapquest and that works with no problem as an alternative, but what the he'll it's wrong with maps?
I've already cleared Google maps in the apps section?

The default Android icons are showing in the pages and folders where they would go but when I tap them it doesn't do anything since the apps are missing. Jan 18, 2012I have just installed CyanogenMod 7 on my HTC Desire.
I partitioned my 16GB Class 10 MicroSD card into a 14GB FAT32 partition and a 2GB ext3 partition. I installed DarkTremor's apps2sd scripts, and the apps2sd gui. I set it to save apps to the SD card, and to move the dalvik cache to the SD card.
Everything was working well: I was able to install apps, and they were going to the SD card (had they not, I would have hit the limit of the Desire's internal storage!). Rebooting didn't negatively affect anything - I rebooted several times and the apps were still there.
Then, when I opened the Theme Explorer, the phone just hung. It didn't respond to any input, from the touch screen to pressing or long pressing the power button. Eventually, in desperation, I took the battery out to do a hard reset.
When the phone booted back up, all the apps I had just installed were gone. Their icons remained on the homepage, but with the generic Android icon instead of their actual icon. They were missing from the ADWLauncher panel. The apps are still present in the list of apps, but are missing their icons and proper names. Instead they are displayed with a generic Android icon, and their "long-form" name, for example "com.amazon.kindle".
In addition to all the apps I had installed being missing, certain apps that came with CyanogenMod were also missing, such as: ROM Manager and the program that lists the apps with root permissions (I forget the name). Also, the Market application is missing. However, the calendar, messages, Google Talk, Theme Chooser, etc are all still present and working.
I tried rebooting the phone multiple times, as well as unmounting and remounting the SD card, with no improvement.
Using the terminal emulator, I can see that /sd-ext still has five directories: app, app-private, dalvik-cache, data, lost+found. However, all these directories, including the /sd-ext/app directory, are empty.
Running a2sd reinstall goes through the list of apps, but for each app that is missing, it says that it cannot find the .apk file for that app.
I suppose, then, that I have two questions:
1. Can I restore my apps somehow?
2. If not, and I have to reinstall, how can I prevent this from happening again?

Dec 25, 2012Today I was playing on my phone and when my battery was about 5% I turned it off. When I put it on charge and turned it on almost all of my apps (actually all that are on the sd card) just stopped. EG:Unfortunately, avast! Mobile security has stopped. Some of them are even missing.

I tried checking /system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar , I thought I lost this file but the file is there..
This is a rare problem and I only found 2 search results on Google about this problem, and both were found on XDA forum. One had his problem solved by placing this .jar file there. The other one tried placing the .jar file but no luck.
It's bothering me. Because I think it will affect other application that uses google maps. But I'm not sure. And I don't want to reinstall the whole ROM because I have partitioned my SD card, put many stuff in it, I dont want to start it all over just because of this small problem.

Apr 10, 2013I've been trying for some time to install apps to SD on my Galaxy S3 using apps such as link2SD etc but have had little to no success. I've heard that some custom ROMs allow you to do this without additional software. Since I was planning on ditching the stock ROM in favour of something with better performance and most importantly better battery life I've been looking for a ROM to suit my needs. However most ROM download sites seem to have little information regarding this and I am yet to find a ROM with this capability. Any ROMs that can do this?

Mar 1, 2010I'd like to flash a new rom, is there any way to backup all my installed apps (including the ones I paid for) so that after I flash the rom, I can get them back? I don't mind if I lose their settings, I just don't want to have to go back to the Market and manually download each one again.
