General :: Free Navigation App With Traffic?
May 24, 2013I'm looking for an app that will navigate while I'm driving, and take traffic into account. Kind of like the at&t navigator, but without having to pay a subscription fee.

View 3 RepliesI love the real time traffic on my Inc, my question is this; does the Inc's nav reroute you to avoid traffic? I know some other nav's do and some don't. I'm just wondering if it takes traffic into account and will tell you to avoid a highway or whatever to get you around it quicker.
View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes the Google Navigation program take traffic conditions into consideration when calculating the route? In other words, if I can get to my destination in 20 mins via Hwy A and 25 mins via Hwy B, but Hwy has an accident, will it route me to Hwy B instead? If so, how accurate/real time are the traffic conditions?I have Garmin on Windows Mobile now and find that it's saved me a few times by giving me a route that it wouldn't otherwise give me if the primary route wasn't backed up.
View 7 Replies View RelatedGoogle today announced a free, turn-by-turn GPS navigation application for the new Android 2.0 smart phone platform.
This new feature comes with everything you'd expect to find in a GPS navigation system, like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. But unlike most navigation systems, Google Maps Navigation was built from the ground up to take advantage of your phone's Internet connection.
Among the features included in the application:
- Up-to-date map data: Automatically includes latest map data from Google, which is constantly being refined by Google and by users submitting corrections
- Plain English search: Locate destinations by entering business business name or landmark; no address needed
- Voice search: Speak destinations and Google Maps Navigation will automatically interpret and plot routes
- Live traffic data: Indicator warns of upcoming traffic issues
- Search along route: Find businesses along path of travel
- Satellite view: 3D view of route to aid in understanding directions
- Street View: first-person perspective of route and destination images
A video preview of Google Maps Navigation has also been posted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the Google Play Music App 4.4.811H.526848 and it works great. But now I tested the traffic the app uses when streaming music, because I wondered that I have higher traffic than expected. I have caching activated. When I put only one song in playlist and stream it, the app uses 14-40 mb traffic for a song with about 2-7 mb!

Google Search says "Unusual traffic from your computer network" and WON'T SEARCH. This happens even if I try type in the search or use voice command.
Here we go: Go to Home screen, get into "Settings", then "Applications", then "Manage Applications"In my list, I selected Gmail, then "Clear Data" (when this option is available) and "Uninstall updates" (may be only "Uninstall")I did the same thing for the following apps:Google Play BooksGoogle Play servicesGoogle Play StoreGoogle Search
Then I powered off the phone, waited 10 seconds and restarted. I let it reboot completely and then the 'update' notifications appeared on the Home screen. I updated each app carefully, and let it settle, then updated the next, until all were updated. Google 'Search' now works perfectly!!
I have a specific 3G Simcard (specific APN) that can access to my network. I would like to share my 3G connection through wifi (for example)
After some tests, I can see that there is no network bridging between my 3G interface and my wlan0 interface.
So if I understand correctly, I need a rooted phone to do that ? ("route add" command line etc...)
Of is there an easiest way to bridge the traffic between two interfaces on an Android OS ?
Why do all Android devices constantly receive/send data traffic? Even though no app is requiring it for that moment.During a one minute period the data traffic light light up at least once.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan anyone confirm if Google Navigation can be used to just show your progress/location on a road while driving, without having to have an actual destination input?I know this was shown on a few of Rob's videos as not being possible, but just wanted to confirm if anyone had any further info on it.

I don't get it.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI used to have the little blue arrow icon and used it to navigate more than once. At some point my little blue navigator icon disappeared. I do have google maps and can pull up what I need no problem. I enter in Bryant-Denny Stadium Tuscaloosa Alabama. Pulls up Bryant-Denny, wants to show me pictures, I can call, save, share. I can change my route options, change to public transit, bicycle all that fun stuff but no where do I see the option to navigate. I see a little GPS icon which if I click just shows me where I am. What has happened to my phone this is driving me nuts. I'm on Android version 4.1.1 and maps 7.1.0. I'm a computer nerd I don't see how they expect normal people to use this stuff if they keep moving things around and changing things..

basically im looking for a way to put the same bar on the wifes advent vega, its currently running froyo, i could update it to hc or ics but if i do it causes problems with the touchscreen.
is it possible to do this or something like this? as getting out of games and certain apps can be a right pain, or can i remap the home button for long press to home screen or something?
My GPS and navigation is not working after i have done factory data reset...... my net connection is ok but still showing location unavilable.....
View 2 Replies View RelatedOriginally I was going to ask about an issue of listening to music (either Pandora or HTC Music App) and using the Nav (google maps.) Before froyo, I could listen to either Pandora or HTC Music App over my car's BT, when a new nav direction would come on, the music would fade in then out. This thread suggests that it's an issue with either/both apps. Suggests that bmusic app (I've never used this) works for this purpose. Did not seem to offer a fix for Pandora; only that it seems it would need an update from them to fix.
My other issue is hearing the nav directions when my car stereo is set to something other than bluetooth audio. Effectively, it seems that the car is viewed the same as earphones. This way, when they're connected, audio will not play via the phone's speaker. If I'm listening to either the radio, CD, or USB I simply don't hear the instructions -- the phone still outputs to these bluetooth "headphones", but the stereo isn't set to that output. As I gather, my two options are:
turn off BT
under options, turn off BT audio only
both of these options should make it so that I can listen to any other audio I wish, and listen to directions via the phone's speaker. Turning the BT on and off is a pain, but fairly easy as I've got a toggle button on my primary home screen. However, it means that I'd have to forgo handsfree BT phone while listening to other types of audio.......
When I launch Navigation, I'm given four methods of choosing a location: "Speak Destination", "Type Destination", "Go home", and "Map". Clicking on "Map" brings me to a map view (cool)... which doesn't actually let me select a destination (WTF). Is this bug present only in Jelly Bean? I can't believe it wouldn't have been caught earlier otherwise.
Oh, launching Maps and long-pressing on a point allows me to select it and set it as a destination for Navigation. Ironic that this functionality is missing from Navigation itself.
Is there a fix for this, or is Maps the only way to select a destination by clicking on a map?
Is there any way to move navigation bar in tablet on top of screen instead of bottom?

In my system, there has a WebView component, and i want to monitor all traffics when WebView open some URL. I know how to monitor whole phone's traffic, there has an example about how to monitor whole phone's traffic:

But I have no any idea on how to monitor only my own app, how can i do?
I had a couple apps that were getting around 400 daily installs. They suddenly dropped down to around 50.

I have recently moved and need to change my "home" address.
I drive a VW Jetta with bluetooth, which has easily paired with my last two phones (Bionic and S4, respectively). While Google map's turn-by-turn map navigation works fine with my phone's bluetooth on, in so far as I can see directions on the map, the navigation voice is disabled. Only when my phone's bluetooth is off do I hear a voice. I'm not sure if this is a function of my phone or my car.
