Any way to lock apps in memory without keeping icon in status bar? I guess I have problem with Lux auto brightness and Keep Screen On. I turned off icon of this apps in bar, and they are stopping working I guess that is because android JB is killing them when there is no icon.

What i'm trying to achieve probably requires an app, and I realise there are a couple of different ways I could go about it. I'm going to deploy 30 android tablets to a classroom in the College where I work, and since I love android, i'd rather not see this little experiment fail. Through a combination of "App Lock" and a widely distributed MDM, I have been able to accomplish most of my requirements, however i'd still like to be able to lock down the home screen, in particular, remove the ability for users to change the wallpaper (I have a nightmare that this feature would be abused from day one!).
I have looked at using different launchers (tried Apex and Smart Launcher) which nicely lock down the home screen, but they still allow users to change the launcher preferences which makes that approach a bit pointless.

I've been using facebook home on my Nexus One since Friday evening and I actually really like it as a lock screen, but I lament every time I hit the home button and don't go back to the default launcher.
Can modify the facebook home apk so that the lock screen is still facebook home, but so that when swiping up to hit the 'Apps' bobble or hitting the home button, you get taken to the normal launcher. Can it be done?

I have 2 year old kid he loves to watch cartoons or videos.
Is there any which blocks the touch and home button. On the iphone there was a application like Incarcer where you had to press volume and down to enable home and touch again.
Is there anything similar for an android phone. Got a galaxy s1 9100 and galaxy s 9000.

What is "home" or "cover feed?"
I was trying to remove all the damn Facebook birthday's from my Google Calendar on my Galaxy S3. When I finally managed to do that, I now have a new app called "cover feed" and something called "Home" displaying stuff from Facebook on my lock screen!!!!
How do I get rid of this? I didn't download it, or okay it, or turn it on via my settings and now it's just making unnecessary steps every time I want to unlock my phone.

Is there a simple setting that will automatically disable my screen lock when I'm at home or at work? If not a setting, is there an app you recommend?
Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.

Is it possible to make transparent status bar which is transparent only for lockscreen and homescreen?
How we can know from Miui, TouchWiz UX (Galaxy tab 3 7.0 only) UX 2.0,
I mean status bar is transparent on Homescreen, Lockscreen and back in all apps. [white background issue]. I think it needs some small modifications, but I don't know where... system ui smali, framework-res or android policy.jar...

I'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day.

My 3 year old loves playing the puzzle game. Great way to entertain her for 20 minutes. But I really gotta watch her. She was just playing and hit the home button was still trying to move a shape but brought up the recent calls list and dialed my boss! She doesn't mean to do it, but her hands are small. So, is there a way to lock those buttons while she's using the game? It would be nice Or would it be more of an individual app feature that I'd need to contact the developers for the feature request?

This afternoon, I wiped my phone and am starting from scratch. Lock 2.0 was giving me some issues and with all the installing and uninstalling of app's I've been doing in the past couple of weeks, I just decided to start with a fresh slate.
Before I back and download Lock 2.0 again, I wanted to inquire with others out there on their experience with the App. I love it, but I wasn't sure if I didn't set it up correctly or I didn't understand how the app worked because it never did replace the default lock screen after I installed and configured it. I always had to manually launch it, unlock the screen and then it would take over.
Not exactly what I had in mind for my money. Was thinking it was a full replacement for the default lock screen. Maybe I didn't read the fine print well enough.
Also, what's been the experience with Open Home on the Sprint Hero?
I'll come clean and admit I'm a Mac super-user stuck without an iPhone (I love Sprint!!). I carry my iPod touch and my Hero with me pretty much everywhere. I am LOVING my Hero though! It does exactly what I wanted it to.
I like to get in and customize to the nth degree, but not at the expense of crappy app's that mess up my stuff.

Is there a checkbox somewhere that I've missed that will keep the standard launcher in memory? Each time I leave the home screen for another app and come back I'm having to wait for icons and widgets to load. I know cyanogen has a checkbox somewhere but this is the first time I've tried one of Pete's ROMS.

I am interested to know how to disable the HOME key or handle it at framework layer, in order to prevent user to by pass the security lock by pressing Home. I know that I am not able to do it at android application layer, so thinking to get some tips in handling it in framework layer.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed... my search did not find anything. I installed Swype beta on my Droid during the recent beta invitation, and it suddenly got to the point where it just won't function at all beyond swyping one word. Then it locks up. Although this has happened since installing GDE Home, Swype still locks up when used with GDE closed and running the default home. In general, GDE seems to slow my Droid, but I can't find an explanation for Swype not working. The android keyboard works well in its own right with GDE, but of course it sucks when you're used to Swyping. I'm out of ideas!

1) If your phone is waking up repeatedly upon pressing lock, and you don't want to restart: HOLD LOCK & PRESS THE ROUND MIDDLE BUTTON!
2) Home++ Menu Restarting on each press, MANAGE APPLICATIONS+FORCEKILL. If you are feeling lazy and don't want to go into the Manage Apps Menu, simply bring up and 'return button' the menu 5 times, it'll lock up, and kill it from there.

If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
