I'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day.

Turns out I have an Xperia P with Android 4.1.2 and i've been using the lock pattern feature for a while... Today I wanted to disable it but it seems like I can't do that, the "None" option is disabled and I can't disable it. (See attached screenshot)

Reason: I cracked my screen from the bottom left of the screen to just shy of the top right corner. The lower section, below the crack, is not responsive to touch... and the dots I need (I use the pattern pass) are on this side because I can't flip the tablet.
How This Happened: I turned on rotation lock with the tablet upside down to keep it there... But then my Nexus 7 decided to restart randomly and keep rotation-lock on but coming back in the default orientation, aka the wrong way that I need it to be.
Is there a simple setting that will automatically disable my screen lock when I'm at home or at work? If not a setting, is there an app you recommend?
Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.
I've been using facebook home on my Nexus One since Friday evening and I actually really like it as a lock screen, but I lament every time I hit the home button and don't go back to the default launcher.
Can modify the facebook home apk so that the lock screen is still facebook home, but so that when swiping up to hit the 'Apps' bobble or hitting the home button, you get taken to the normal launcher. Can it be done?
I am doing a security Lock system for my project. I am interested to know how to disable the HOME key or handle it at framework layer, in order to prevent user to by pass the security lock by pressing Home. I changed the "wifi sleep policy " to never but still i cant get incoming calls
I tested it several time even tried to ping it but it seems that it is disconnects after the screen shutoff.
Wouldn't it be cool if I could tell my phone to switch wifi on and switch 3g reception off when it senses that I am at work or home based on my gps coordinates and then reverse that when I'm on the road i.e. not at those coordinates I set. Is there an app that does this?

I don't let other people borrow it, and don't leave it out at work. I also do not have any of my email except correspondence, and no financial information or online shopping.

When I tell it to, it just says Connection unsuccessful, touch to try again. I tried reboot my phone and router again and also deleting the connection and connecting again, and nothing. So the screen has no functionality what so ever, i cant reset it or anything, broken. It was rooted and I loved all my settings on it. I have a pattern unlock for it and such, however, USB debugging is disabled (worst thing ever, second to it breaking) So i want all of my data off my old phone and into my new one. Is there anyway from my laptop that I can get all of my data off it and onto my new Driod Razr M? Any way i can bypass my pattern lock, and get everything back?

I was messing around with using CM9 and I like it but it isn't up for the kind of usage I'd like to use it for so I went back to CM7. One thing I really liked about CM9 was the pattern lock dots- On ICS they are a lot thinner and look slicker, whilst on GB they are thick and bulky and I dislike them.
So my question is; Would it be possible to flash a zip in CWM to change the pattern lock dots on my device? Or any other method?

Needless to say it was soon forgotten. I've tried the gmail reset but it says the details are incorrect even though I can sign in with them on my PC. My guess is that it can't connect to gmail for authentication due to the firewall I'm using.
