I am doing a security Lock system for my project. I am interested to know how to disable the HOME key or handle it at framework layer, in order to prevent user to by pass the security lock by pressing Home. I know that I am not able to do it at android application layer, so thinking to get some tips in handling it in framework layer.

Is there a simple setting that will automatically disable my screen lock when I'm at home or at work? If not a setting, is there an app you recommend?
Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.
I'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day.

Only Issue is, even with the security code enabled, all one has to do is power on/off the phone and your in with no need for the code. What I am looking for is a locking app that doesn't get disabled when powering the phone off/on. Looking for something secure much like every BB has where no matter what you do, to proceed into the phone you need to type in the Lock Code.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just noticed yesterday accidentally that you can press and hold the search button on the lock screen and perform anything Google Voice Actions is capable of. I am using a Droid 2 unrooted. This may affect the Droid X as well. This is a huge security flaw in Motorola's modified pattern/PIN lock screen. Hopefully this thread garnishes enough attention so that this can be patched soon! Steps to reproduce:
1. Lock your screen
2. Press and hold the search button "magnifying glass"
3. Speak any voice action and the phone will respond. Note: you will not get any visual or audible cues (in Google Voice Actions) that it is working, but it is!
when you enable the pattern to unlock you have to do the htc unlock first and slide down which reveals the pattern. Is there a way to just make it the pattern?

This really surprises me, the phone contains access to all your email, contacts, calendar, and any other personal data you may have placed on it, and a large percentage of you aren't even using the basic security provided by the pattern lock? Or is it that many people don't know the pattern lock exists? I just can't imagine having a phone like this that isn't secured to whatever extent is available.

I am looking for an application that will allow me to lock out certain applications and features. For example, its common that someone wants to tinker with my phone because they have never seen it. I don't want the messing around in my messaging center, gmail, etc. But the general phone lock is not enough. I want to specify certain apps and functions that will require password or gesture. I found "ES Security manager - application protector" in the market. It worked okay for a day, now its buggy. When I go to a locked app and put in my password. Now it goes to the protector settings instead of the application. Also, it can easily be killed from a task manager app. I need a good solid app that will do this for me.

I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..

Today i downloaded some applications like power saver, no lock, etc. suddenly it started blinking system process information at right top of the screen. I have uninstalled all downloaded applications but system information keeps on blinking. Sometime it is occupying entire right side portion and i am unable to see screen content. System process information like "3.56/5.67/3.84 system_server akmd2 android.process.core" is displaying in low size text. It seems as it is showing information for debug purposes.
I have stopped all services, all application, etc. forcefully even then it keeps on displaying. Can anyone help me how to disable showing such information ?
I have this game, which is almost done. It has 1 critical bug. When the app exits and restarts, the phone goes in to super slow mode and eventually restarts. I am at a loss as to how to debug it.
It seems like something is happening to make the program run super slowly. The ND time the program exits it takes a very long time to exit and when the phone returns to the main screen the program is almost totally unresponsive. The phone will eventually restart itself.
I hate sliding my droid keyboard open and still having to unlock it on the screen. In every other case, having to unlock it doesn't bother me, so I'm just looking for an app that will bypass the lock when you slide the keyboard open.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince 1.5 I've been having partial wake problems. My eris normally will last a few hours in airplane mode or with just wifi on before the battery drops one or two percent. Sometimes, it will drop like 5 percent in an hour with low battery usage occuring, for example, when airplane mode is on. I check spare parts under partial wake usage, and it is usually very high, sometimes 100% after hours. I have to reboot my phone to fix these problems.
