I like the look and functionality of the youtube widget because it shows your subscription uploads in order. but does it automatically refresh itself? How do new videos pop up?

My youtube widget has said "connection problem, touch to try again" for over a week and does not work. Anyone know the deal? It gives me this error on full bars 3g, full bars wifi and currently 2 bars 4g.

Every time I try to play a youtube video, or any video for that matter, I receive an error message informing me the "video cannot be played".Am I missing a piece of software or something?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to FroYo, the stock youtube app doesn't work correctly. Most of the time I can't hear any sound at all no matter what setting the media volume is set to. The times I can hear sound it isn't audible and very very quiet. Does anyone else have this problem?

When I touch it, either on 3g or wifi, it tries to refresh and comes back with the same message. All of my other data-related things work. It is just this widget. I have tried removing it from the desktop and then placing it there again, and this does nothing to help either. I have rebooted the phone numerous times as well. Again, this didn't help.
I just have a small doubt, it seems the youtube widget access the 3g/2g when it is not used, is this true?
View 1 Replies View Relatedis anybody else having a problem with their youtube app widget after the "gps fix" update? after the update i noticed it only had the search option (little magnifying glass) and no longer the upload video (little camcorder) button on the widget. after i add the widget and use with the phone for a little bit (sometimes for less than 5 minutes) the widget will change itself back to having the upload button option but at that point the search and upload buttons just highlight orange when i press them and then it does nothing. sometimes im able to click on the video being promoted on the widget and it will open and play but for the most part the widget is un-clickable. im not sure if it has anything to do with me downloading launcher pro but i had that on my last captivate before i exchanged it and currently my phone is all stock haven't rooted it or anything yet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Google Calendar and syncing it to my Eris, and for some reason it's damn flaky. Half the time it works, but then if, say, I delete one event out of a recurring pattern from the phone,com.htc. provider. calendar crashes every time the phone tries to update its calendar! It will continually do this until I force stop it, reset the calendar storage and re-sync manually from Google's servers. That, and I've deleted a few events on calendar.google.com and have re-sync'd the phone manually a bunch of times and it won't seem to affect the data on the phone. I mean, it's nice to not have to pay for push calendar sync (like Apple asks you to with MobileMe), but c'mon Google & HTC. First the YouTube app never works on mobile network, Google Maps won't let you arbitrarily pick a location to map to, and this calendar syncing bs? These are things that should just work on a phone with the Google logo on the back.

I have done all updates for the apps, and still nothing.
I don't get it. I can watch youtube videos with lightning speed but I try to watch a facebook video and it tells me I need a flash player. Adobe's doesn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I gave in and decided to download Handcent. I wasn't overly impressed with the HTC Message Widget and have heard such great things about Handcent. But, I'm having trouble getting the widget to work right. I have a blank home screen and added the Handcent SMS Widget to it. I thought that should make a full-screen widget like the other do. But instead it is just putting a tiny little Handcent icon as if it was a shortcut to the program (which essentially is what it is because if I click on it then Handcent opens). I have done this multiple times to make sure I was putting the widget and not the program there.

My wife's is working and shows our town, but mine just sits there blank with the town name saying no information is found.

New to Android and to Hero but what I see I like a lot after swapping my iphone for this device.
I have bought an Orange branded Hero which has been unlocked and I have it working on O2.
I have 2 questions:
When I open the browser I get a message saying it won't connect to Orange WAP from a none orange device. I have set up the MMS and O2 WAP APN's and everything else seems to work even the browser works when I hit the search key. I should also add that I have changed the browser home page to O2 - any ideas?
2nd, I can't get the HTC mail widget to work with Googlemail. Googlemail works fine from it's own widget though.
Other than that, loving the phone and looking forward to really seeing what it can do - I might have a look at this "rooting" that everyone seems to talk about.
I tried google and forum search on this but can't find it. I read somewhere that the Power bar is a resource hog, and I'd be better off with individual widgets for each. Problem is, I can't figure out how to make a WiFi widget work through tasker. I get the icon, and set it to be WiFi toggle, but it doesn't actually do anything.

This question has been asked, unfortunately, many times without answer. There was one response by Dianne Hackborn to a separate widget question which suggested that it was possible to use the package manager to disable widgets.
