So, I've overclocked my EVO 3D to a reasonable 1.5 GHz(maximum recommended frequency by Qualcomm for S3 processors). Will that degrade its performance? I am talking about long-term effects.

I am wondering if there is actually an appreciable performance boost when overclocking the Droid CPU. Does it really improve performance, or is it more just so we can say "Hey lookee here! I OC'd mah Droid!"? Nothing wrong with the latter if thats the case, I am just wondering.
Specifically I am wondering about framerates in games. I have Angry Birds (for example) on both my Droid and my iPod Touch. It is smooth as silk on the Touch, but the framerate sucks balls on Droid. Wondering if OC'ing will do anything for that.

The over-the-air update for the Motorola CLIQ has been delayed to the week of February 22. An updated article will be available once a date has been determined.
On February 18, Motorola will begin sending over-the-air (OTA) software updates to Motorola CLIQ customers. The software update will improve device performance and resolve several known issues.

If customers are experiencing any Known Issue that will be resolved by the software update:
Do not file a handset exchange
Advise customers that the issue will be resolved by a software update on February 18.
Important Rebate Changes

Mistakenly i set the options on the app as set on boot. Now after booting its freezing up. I can boot in Recovery mode. how to push the stock kernel file to the SD card?I don't have any backup ROMs or kernels on the phone. Neither is the Debugging mode on.I don't want to do a factory reset now. Using ADB i tried the push option

this also showed that the file was pushed

According to MT6573's specification, it has support for advanced 3D graphics; multi-format video capture and playback up to FWVGA 30fps; high-resolution camera support to 8MP.
An irritating thing is that the camera is TOTALLY USELESS under average or poor lighting conditions when recording. I have tried with different apps and they all gave me disappointing video recordings (almost total darkness clips).

When it comes to overclocking is it strictly a hardware thing with these phones? I see a lot of threads where people are clocked at 768 or up to 806 with no issues. I can't go over 710 without issues. Even at 729 I start to get random force closes and at 748 it completely craps out. I'm fine with 710 if that is how far I can go, but I was wondering if this is a normal thing? I know some hardware is better than others, I am a hardware technician, but that much better?

I have had to increase the screen off min speed to 480000 to stop this happening. This of course means I'm not getting the battery saving bonus that setting to 112, 160 or 245 would give me. Does anyone know a better way to set the overclock widget to give me the battery saving effects without distorting music? Or perhaps an mp3 player that uses less CPU? I'm running SenseHero 2.1 b4 and using the stock HTC music player.

Seems pretty straight forward but I have no clue what ROM to get and I'm not even sure what a kernel is. There are so many ROMs out there I kinda got overwhelmed. Maybe some of you could recommend me one? I want to keep 2.2, and I also NEED 4G to work as Raleigh is one of the cities blessed with 4G coverage. I'm pretty happy with HTC Sense interface, but I'm open to other suggestions. Other than that I just want better battery life, stable performance, unlocking the 30fps cap, CPU speed scaling, and free tethering would be nice. Like I said I don't really know what a kernel is or does. Will I have to flash a new kernel as well as a ROM? And when am I supposed to/how do I flash the radios
In the world of overclocking faster isn't always better. Your CPU may be capable of a high overclock but may actually run faster at a lower overclock.
With the new Snap 8.1 kernel, I am able to run my EVO at 1.22 stable, however, after much benchmarking, I would say it seems to run a bit faster at 1.15. So at this point I would say 1.15 is the sweet spot for this CPU. Opinions?
Soo running the froydvillain 1.4.4 tried different kernels. Would ask this on their IRC channel but I think they would lynch me :P The max stable I get is 748 was running it for like 10 mins :P (768 wont boot) Was running mostly 691 and now 614 . But dont know what will the difference in power consumption be. For example when playing with the phone and it will have to go to the 691 will it hold a lot less? Or its just a minor difference?
