HTC EVO 4G :: Rooting - Overclocking And Reformatting

Sep 21, 2010

So I have had my Evo for a little over a month now. I love it, but rooting seems to offer a lot of things to enhance the phone. Now I'm pretty computer savvy, say for overclocking and reformatting and such, but I'm clueless when it comes to these phones. I will be following this guide, is this everything I need to know?

[TUTORIAL] IDIOT-PROOF Root Guide! NAND Unlock and ADB Update!! - xda-developers

Seems pretty straight forward but I have no clue what ROM to get and I'm not even sure what a kernel is. There are so many ROMs out there I kinda got overwhelmed. Maybe some of you could recommend me one? I want to keep 2.2, and I also NEED 4G to work as Raleigh is one of the cities blessed with 4G coverage. I'm pretty happy with HTC Sense interface, but I'm open to other suggestions. Other than that I just want better battery life, stable performance, unlocking the 30fps cap, CPU speed scaling, and free tethering would be nice. Like I said I don't really know what a kernel is or does. Will I have to flash a new kernel as well as a ROM? And when am I supposed to/how do I flash the radios

HTC EVO 4G :: SD Card Stock Files / Reformatting

Jun 23, 2010

Shortly after getting my EVO, I got a message saying that the SD card needed to be reformatted. I don't know if there is anything important on the card when you first get it from Sprint, but even if it's just some random music/picture files, I would really like to have them. Can someone zip up the files that come preloaded on the SD Card and upload them here?

General :: Reformatting Inner SD - Hanging On Dell Logo?

Jun 13, 2013

I wiped inner SD, recovered image, complementary of marvin, however I am still hanging on dell logo. Inner SD is confirmed to be working (at least on the surface), because it can still transfer files with fat32 partition.

I can access recover, fastboot, everything, just no qualcomm.

I flashed DSC 2.0 and streakmod recovery, still no go. WHAT CAN POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH MY PHONE???

I bricked my phone and wiped EVERYTHING from the INNER sd card, which in hindsight seems to be a terrible choice.

How do I repartition it to the original condition??

I also don't know how to name them, or put them in the right location

I believe when all is finished I can finally use stock recovery + rom... Right now it just gets stuck at dell logo no matter what recov/rom i flash.

Samsung Vibrant :: Does Reformatting Complicate Restoring Phone Again?

Sep 25, 2010

I had to reset my phone to solve a GPS crashing problem. Prior to the reset, I had successfully installed Ryan's one-click lag fix, and my phone was a demon. After the reset, I noticed the SU was left behind, and when I did Ryan's rooting step, it told me the phone was already rooted and that the lag fix was unavailable. When I click on lag fix it tells me a lag fix is already installed and reports this file: (/system/bin/playlogos1 less than 5kb). But I cannot find this file.

Do I have to reformat the internal memory and, if so, how do I do that? Does reformatting complicate restoring the phone again?

HTC Eris :: Overclocking / Cannot Go Over 710?

Sep 21, 2010

When it comes to overclocking is it strictly a hardware thing with these phones? I see a lot of threads where people are clocked at 768 or up to 806 with no issues. I can't go over 710 without issues. Even at 729 I start to get random force closes and at 748 it completely craps out. I'm fine with 710 if that is how far I can go, but I was wondering if this is a normal thing? I know some hardware is better than others, I am a hardware technician, but that much better?

HTC EVO 4G :: Is SetCPU Working - Overclocking?

Jun 8, 2010

I'm new to rooting, but I just switched to the EVO from the iPhone which I had jailbroken so I'm familiar with the concept. A quick question regarding SetCPU. I know there is not a kernel out there yet for overclocking, but how can I tell if it's working for underclocking when my evo is sleeping? Is there a way to confirm or do I just estimate if I see improved battery performance?

HTC Hero :: Overclocking And Mp3 Players

Jun 2, 2010

After setting the overclock widget to reduce the CPU when my screen is off I find the mp3 player distorts the music when I listen. I have had to increase the screen off min speed to 480000 to stop this happening. This of course means I'm not getting the battery saving bonus that setting to 112, 160 or 245 would give me. Does anyone know a better way to set the overclock widget to give me the battery saving effects without distorting music? Or perhaps an mp3 player that uses less CPU? I'm running SenseHero 2.1 b4 and using the stock HTC music player.

HTC EVO 4G :: Overclocking Sweet Spot

Aug 29, 2010

In the world of overclocking faster isn't always better. Your CPU may be capable of a high overclock but may actually run faster at a lower overclock.

With the new Snap 8.1 kernel, I am able to run my EVO at 1.22 stable, however, after much benchmarking, I would say it seems to run a bit faster at 1.15. So at this point I would say 1.15 is the sweet spot for this CPU. Opinions?

But dont know what will the difference in power consumption be. For example when playing with the phone and it will have to go to the 691 will it hold a lot less? Or its just a minor difference?

Motorola Droid :: Overclocking / How To Get It Even Higher?

Apr 15, 2010

I have followed everything stated on the stickies about rooting and such to get my self rooted. I'm running ultimated droid right now with SetCPU and my question to you all is, how do you get it even higher. In the video I followed (the 1 in the sticky), he installs everything and when installing the ROM, has an option to install a 1.25 ghz ROM. Given, he wasn't installing ultimate droid but when I "crank it up," my max is 1 GHz. Is this because of the ROM or am I missing something?

For some reason it says that the calendar has used 14%, and I barely looked at it today. I installed bugless beast 7.5 last night, set the overclock to 800, and charged it up. Today, when my battery dipped to 40%, I went to setCPU and set the speed back down to 550. Still, now it's at 20%.

Motorola Droid :: CyanogenMod 5.0.5 Overclocking

I made this thread to find out exactly what I need because I have no idea what is up to date and what isnt, there are so many threads eveywhere with different information. I only rooted last night so I am still quite noobish here.

Question: Does the installation of Cyanogen include everything I need to OC? I have downloaded setCPU 1.5a but that is all. Havent installed it or anything. I'm pretty confused on the whole kernel topic and what needs to be done for me to get my droid up to 800mhz.
