My question is, has anybody got any measured improvement in frames per second by using VBOs instead of exactly the same content without VBOs? If and only if so, what were your fps results? However, on my machine is slow even after that.The 'phone' responds with a 3-4 seconds delay and everything has a huge lag.Is there any way to improve the performance of my laptop (Asus 1201N) is too rusty for the Android emulator? Tried in different emulator resolutions and the result is the same.My laptop has 2 cores with HyperThreading. And it shows as 4 CPU in Device Manager. However, when using the emulator, just one of the graphs is at 100%. Can I do something to make it work multi core?

Input happens entirely through the touch screen, with a 20 mS delay after each processed MotionEvent. Sometimes (very rarely) it happens that the background music gets interrupted for a fraction of a second during input. Do you have any ideas how to ensure MediaPlayer continues audio playback during touch screen input? All audio files are in ogg format with various sample and bit rates. Would it be an advantage if all audio files would share the same samplerate and/or bitrate? Do you have any other ideas how to improve audo playback performance?

Dec 3, 2009Will Android 2.0/2.1 improve performance? The Eris is a cool phone and all but it simply cant keep up with me. There is nothing wrong with my phone also. I have rebooted it and have 80mb free memory. Same thing at Verizon store display phone. It just cant keep up and the lag and waiting periods (1 second or so) are annoying me. Yes one second is alot of lag time when you are trying to do things. It sounds like "only one second" but there are 100 of these one second lag times all over the phone. Im not even an "expert" or "hardcore" user.
Anyon know if Android 2.0 will run faster? Playing a simple MP3 while trying to navigate the phone increases the lag times. Why dosnt the older iphone 3g have these lag issues when they both have equal CPUs?
When will Google and HTC aknowledge the MAJOR issue with the ENTIRE phone slowing down the a crawl once available RAM goes under 30mb. (common with all Android phones) Is it SO hard to have the ability to shutdown apps and automatically remove them from ram when Im done using them? This is the same stupidity Windows Mobile went through back in 2003. Yes I understand that Android will remove unused apps from RAM to make room for the next one but this is where the lag is coming from. The entire phone slows to a crawl unless you free up some memory with 3rd party apps.

May 25, 2010I have a couple friends with the Eris that went from loving their phones to hating them shortly after receiving the 2.1 OTA upgrade. They were quite happy with 1.5, but were looking forward to 2.1 - because I bragged about the improvements in the leaks.
I was playing around with their phones last night and they were having serious lag when scrolling, receiving calls and switching from portrait to landscape mode. I turned off window animations completely and those issues went away immediately. The phones are now pretty speedy.
If you're looking for that setting, it's under: Settings > Sound & display > Animation > No animations.

Jan 1, 2010I've always said that the Behold2 is a great looking phone. It has software/OS issues for sure. However, I don't use the cube so, that bit of nonsense doesn't get in my way. The laggi-ness does get on my nerves because it slows things to a crawl much too often. Sometimes programs or the TouchWiz slider don't open when they should. Frozen-ness happens too.
The scary part is that I have very few third party apps installed. Sometimes the controls for the Media player don't show up at all. So you can see why I am reticent to install anything beyond what I consider to be essentials so as not to over-burden an already beleaguered setup.Considering these known issues, why were we ignored on the Android 1.6 release? We weren't graced with 2.0 either. Now 2.1 is on the horizon and there is no word about its being sent our way. I'd like to think that Samsung or Tmo wants to keep us happy so that we don't jump ship in a few days. I could dump this puppy because I am within my 14 days and am not a happy camper.
Questions: What if anything will an upgraded OS do to improve the performance of our processor? Or, what improvements might we expect with a new OS release?

But if I have a lot of resources, my project is saving, compiling and launching during relatively long period of time. General :: Can't Mount / EFS Which Won't Allow To Run Jelly Bean
Sep 2, 2013After I flashed a couple roms I couldn't boot jelly bean anymore and I noticed the error in recovery: E: Cant Mount /efs, when installing. But I could still boot ICS but not jellybean. I still had my IMEI and could make calls but could not boot jelly bean because it couldn't mount.
Sometimes when installing a rom something goes wrong and it changes the partition type of /efs making it unable to be mounted. The partition is usually from ext4 to swap.Most likely this will work on your phone but if it doesn't and your phone stops working I am not responsible.
If your like me and you couldn't get jelly bean to work then flash your device back to ics and it should boot. Once your booted inside of ics we can start the process.
Pre-Setup:
1. Be rooted and have a custom recovery installed.
2. Be on Ics and it boots.
3. Your need to have a Jelly Bean rom like Cyanogenmod on your sdcard.
4. Have adb installed on your pc and usb debugging on in your phone/tab.
Now that that's done its time to start.
Part One:
1. Boot into recovery.
2. We need to find the efs block location.
3. Go to mounts and select efs
4. It should say unable to mount
5. Go to advance and make a recovery.log
6. Put that file on your computer and open it.
7. Look through the file and you should fine something like this around the beginning of the file:
E:Unable to mount '/efs'..Actual block device: '/dev/block/mmcblk0p3', current file system: 'swap'..My location is /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 But yours could be different! Most likely the difference will be instead of it ending with a 3 it will be a different number. I will be saying /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 if yours is different just change it to your location.
*WARNING* Sometimes when you copy paste into adb it will auto run the command without you pressing enter. If your location is different then mine and you copy past and it auto runs it could be BAD so to be careful if you want to copy past. Copy the command paste it into Google make the change and copy that and paste into adb
Part Two:
1. When your inside recovery connect your phone to your computer and get into a adb shell. (Sometimes it will take awhile for adb to recognize your device so be patient.)
2. Once you have adb access its time to start entering the commands.(Again my location may be different the yours! Most likely the difference will be instead of it ending with a 3 it will be a different number.
Part Three Inside ADB:
1. su
2. dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/sdcard/efs.img
3. mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
4. mkdir /efs
5. mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /efs
DONT REBOOT PHONE
Part Four On Your Phone:
1. Now /efs is mounted don't unmount it
2. Do a factory reset
3. Install your Jelly Bean rom
4. It should install without any errors
5. Boot your phone
6. If everything went well it should boot.
7. After it boots your signal notification most likely will be gray and internet or calls may not work
8. To fix just install gapps and it will be fixed
There you have it if everything went correctly your efs should be working good and you should be able to go back and do your normal rom flashing.
If jelly bean boots but you don't have phone do this:
1. Go back into recovery and get adb access.
2. su
3. mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
4. mkdir /efs
5. mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /efs
6. dd if=/sdcard/efs.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=4096
