All my pictures and videos got deleted from my android phone somehow, and now my sd card is not being recognised by my phone. I am also unable to unmount or format my sd card to get it to work. What should I do?

Reason i ask is that i usually charge my phone thru usb and sometimes i move files in and out of the device, but want to test said files without having to remove the usb cable and plug it back in to unmount the SD card.

I am writing my own desktop application which needs to to pass some data into the Android phone which will be used by an Android application and at the same time copy some data from the phone into the desktop application. Any idea how to implement this? One idea is through SDCard. But is it possible to mount and unmount programmatically? Because data cannot be written into the SDCard while it is mounted. Is there any other method?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOK so i updated to the newest 1.6 from BH_man's release. When everything looked good i tried gallery, but it kept Facing on me. When i looked around and found out that i had to make a new folder called SD on the card. So after doing that it would stay at the Loading screen. I could Back button out of it but then it would say i have no pictures. Then for some reason i decided to reformat the card. Bad move. After i went to setting >unmount> then format, i cant get it to mount the card again! I dunno what to do

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, when i got my evo I took out the 8gig SD card and gave it to my brother and took my old 16gig SD card from my blackberry storm and put it in the evo. now when i plug the phone into the computer I see that the SD card is showing up as Blackberry2(which i guess maybe i named it that? i dont remember) and some of the files in ther are blackberry related things. Should i take off all my pics and music and use the evo phone settings to format the SD card? Does it matter at all if I do or dont?

I noticed that when you uninstall an application, the directories and misc. files are left behind on the SD card. Is there a way to format the SD card and phone then re-install everything?

I tried to format it on my laptop via adapter, by right clicking SD Card F: going to format, selecting FAT32, checking the quick format box, and pressing start but whenever I place it back in my phone, it won't mount. It says it's damaged. I had the same problem when I first purchased the sd card but found a link online that showed me how to format it a different way,in another location, which worked perfectly. I recently removed the sd card for something though and encountered this same problem but am unable to find that same link. It's driving me nuts! I had to import everything to my laptop to make sure I didn't lose it all.

Short version of a long story is that someone reformatted it and haven't been able to connect it since. Even tried to reformat from within Android 2.2.1 but it still gives me "this card is unreadable" when I plug in the phone on my mac.

I want to format my sd card to remove sd-ext. However, I want to keep my apps and data. Could I do a rom backup with clockwork and copy the backup onto my computer the put it back on my phone after I format? Will that restore my apps and data? I have a lot of apps.

After I did that, every time I press mount SD card, i get a notification that the SD card is safe to remove. I booted up in CWM and tried partitioning it and it says it worked, but I still can't mount and I get "Error mounting /sdcard!".

i correctly unmounted from pc (safely remove hardware) and then stopped file sharing on eris.
i took the card out and put in a different one (i don't have a card reader and was trying to transfer some stuff).
when i tried to put the original card back in, my finger slipped as i was pushing it in and it got like halfway in and then popped back out.
the eris saw this as an unsafe removal.
now, it keeps telling me "the sd card is blank or using an unsupported .." something. if i tap on the notification, it just takes to me a window to format it. i keep saying yes to format, but it never formats.
i've tried formatting from settings and tried mounting it again and formatting from the pc. when i do that, the pc says that the drive size is 1.08 TB (?!?!?). this is the 8GB sd card that comes with the eris. and it also won't let me format.
what gives? i've tried taking it out and putting it back in. it keeps saying unsafe removal but the option to unmount is grayed out and i can't choose it.
i tried taking it out, turning off the eris, putting the card in and turning back on. still nothing.
what's going on here?
I have a 2.08GB internal memory but now FREE SPACE is only 85mb now which used to be 400+mb. I dont install any app and i have deleted all the APPS and temp files from my internal sd. When i connect my TABLET to the pc it says the FREE SPACE is 85mb(Also says in the tablet settings>storage) but when i went inside the internal sd through my computer, and click on all the FLODERS and look into the properties, the size are only about 100 mb, but have free space of 85mb which is strange. there is also 'FOUND.000' folder after i connected to the pc which cannot be deleted. can i format the INTERNAL SD?or?

After deleting files and rebooting, the files reappear.
I can't format the SD Card using the Android OS - it goes black screen and requires me to pull out the battery in order to start the device.
I removed the SD Card and attached it to my laptop's SD Card slot and tried formatting using Windows 7- the format process completed after ~30-40 minutes, yet the SD Card appeared UNCHANGED!
I used multiple SD Card formatting tools, still no dice - they either complain about write protection, that they can't start, they start and stop halfway with an error, you name it.
It's like the SD Card has built in protection that keeps the files in it in stasis form, never ever witnessed such a behavior in any storage device. What gives?
I have a MyPhone A888 (4.0.4) and I was planning to wipe the Internal SD Card. How exactly do I do this? I have not rooted my phone yet also so how to root this phone. I know how to flash the ROM back to the Stock, but, how do I re-format/prepare my MicroSD card in the phone back to it's factory settings?

I followed the steps on Addictive Tips on how to properly add an EXT4 partition on my 8gb sd card.
Now I have 6.xGB FAT32 as the primary partition, and a 1GB EXT4 logical partition. But my Samsung Galaxy Ace (running on CyanogenMod-7.2.0-C1-cooper, official nightly build) doesn't recognize the sd card anymore.
So I gave up and reformatted it back to a single FAT32 partition, copied my backup back into the sd card, but now the apps don't get recognized.
Having to go in settings/storage everytime you wanna safely unmount your USB OTG drives is quite annoying... Is there a way to get a shorcut for that (widget or else) on JB and former Android versions?

It is actually 31.7gb according to my laptop. when i put it in my desire, it will not see it, or just tells me that the sd card needs formatting, then won't format it.
