General :: Apps Not Recognized After SD Card Repartition And Format
Apr 5, 2012
I followed the steps on Addictive Tips on how to properly add an EXT4 partition on my 8gb sd card.
Now I have 6.xGB FAT32 as the primary partition, and a 1GB EXT4 logical partition. But my Samsung Galaxy Ace (running on CyanogenMod-7.2.0-C1-cooper, official nightly build) doesn't recognize the sd card anymore.
So I gave up and reformatted it back to a single FAT32 partition, copied my backup back into the sd card, but now the apps don't get recognized.

I recently updated my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 to CyanogenMod 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) the other week. I don't know if it is related to the upgrade or not, but the phone no longer recognises the external SD card. I have tried three different cards (all 8GB), including a brand new class 10 bought this morning to test it. I've attached pictures of the storage page on the phone, showing that the phone sees the internal storage okay, and seems to recognise that there is an external card in (the "Space" and "Available" figures are correct), but that the mounting option is greyed out. I have checked all three cards in my Galaxy camera, which sees them okay. In addition, I booted into recovery mode (Vol+, Home, power) to see if the card was being recognised at that level, and I could see all the folders on the card then.
I have spent the last three hours searching for solutions, but there is nothing of use except "the SD card is corrupt", which clearly isn't the case here since I've got three cards that all work in another Android device.

When I go into gallery I see my pictures on my external sd card. When I go into camera mode, the preview box is black and when I press the preview box, my external pics don't come up.

I tried to format it on my laptop via adapter, by right clicking SD Card F: going to format, selecting FAT32, checking the quick format box, and pressing start but whenever I place it back in my phone, it won't mount. It says it's damaged. I had the same problem when I first purchased the sd card but found a link online that showed me how to format it a different way,in another location, which worked perfectly. I recently removed the sd card for something though and encountered this same problem but am unable to find that same link. It's driving me nuts! I had to import everything to my laptop to make sure I didn't lose it all.

In an earlier version of android I was able to see my SD Card on my mac just fine. Short version of a long story is that someone reformatted it and haven't been able to connect it since. Even tried to reformat from within Android 2.2.1 but it still gives me "this card is unreadable" when I plug in the phone on my mac.
how to reformat the SD card so it will both work with both the phone and an apple laptop?

I want to format my sd card to remove sd-ext. However, I want to keep my apps and data. Could I do a rom backup with clockwork and copy the backup onto my computer the put it back on my phone after I format? Will that restore my apps and data? I have a lot of apps.

I decided I wanted a fresh start on my phone so I backed up my pictures and formatted my SD card. I just used the default one in settings. After I did that, every time I press mount SD card, i get a notification that the SD card is safe to remove. I booted up in CWM and tried partitioning it and it says it worked, but I still can't mount and I get "Error mounting /sdcard!".

I have a 2.08GB internal memory but now FREE SPACE is only 85mb now which used to be 400+mb. I dont install any app and i have deleted all the APPS and temp files from my internal sd. When i connect my TABLET to the pc it says the FREE SPACE is 85mb(Also says in the tablet settings>storage) but when i went inside the internal sd through my computer, and click on all the FLODERS and look into the properties, the size are only about 100 mb, but have free space of 85mb which is strange. there is also 'FOUND.000' folder after i connected to the pc which cannot be deleted. can i format the INTERNAL SD?or?

I have an extremely weird SD Card behavior with my Note 2:
After deleting files and rebooting, the files reappear.
I can't format the SD Card using the Android OS - it goes black screen and requires me to pull out the battery in order to start the device.
I removed the SD Card and attached it to my laptop's SD Card slot and tried formatting using Windows 7- the format process completed after ~30-40 minutes, yet the SD Card appeared UNCHANGED!
I used multiple SD Card formatting tools, still no dice - they either complain about write protection, that they can't start, they start and stop halfway with an error, you name it.
It's like the SD Card has built in protection that keeps the files in it in stasis form, never ever witnessed such a behavior in any storage device. What gives?

I have a MyPhone A888 (4.0.4) and I was planning to wipe the Internal SD Card. How exactly do I do this? I have not rooted my phone yet also so how to root this phone. But really, my main question is as to how to format the internal sd card. I am not very sure yet if TWRP or CWM supports my phone since I haven't used them yet.

Re-Partition of an Android-System?
I bricked my Acer A200
What I did:root and unlock with SimpleTool V2
installed CWM
Started in recovery, did full wipe
after this getting the information, that /data can not be found
restart => rien ne va plus....
After this trying with fastboot, ADB, tools like TWRP, CWM etc to get something work again, manually cleared and also removed files and folders with ADB. At last using Weapon ROM Installer and get flashed a ROM but now my internal Card ist not fully useable - the storage information says 66MB.
I can not install any apps and the system always get aback to zero, when I do a restart
I think, I bricked the internal partition of the whole system..../data is still not usable....etc...

I've a rooted ZTE V972M. I tried to increase internal storage following instructions in
"Re-Partition any MTK6589 Phone, Without A PC! (More /Data Storage!)"
When I reboot my phone, it stucks at logo screen. What I've done :
1. Enter the recovery mode; it's a stock recovery (Android system recovery <3e>); wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition.
Result: still stuck at logo when rebooting.
2. Flash a stock ROM in recovery mode.
Result: Update aborted. In the log file, it says "failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)" detailed in attached file. The stock rom I used is for ZTE LEO S1, while my phone is DTAC LION HD which is a house brand of my phone carrier. So, there may be a problem of ROM signing.
3. I installed "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" and "ZTE_Android_Driver", and run "adb devices" command.
Result: There is nothing under " List of devices attached", so I assume adb cannot see my phone. In Windows' Device Manager, it shows "Portable Devices" and lists drive I: and K: under it.
In summary, My phone is rooted. I might have damaged partition /data and /cache which causes the bootloop. I can still enter stock recovery mode. I have a stock ROM, but may not be properly signed.

First I restarted the phone with a soft reboot which didnt work, then I did a hard reboot which reset all my settings but still didnt fix the issue. I removed and re-installed the SD card in the slot which also did nothing. The phone refuses to recognize the card is mounted.

I have a great app that I can't find anymore in the play store, and not just from my device it's just GONE, though I can find several copycats but none are as good as the original. The thing is, I want to format my cell but I don't want to lose this app. Is there a way to copy the app to my pc and reinstall it after I formated my device?

I formatted the sd card and reformatted it, but to no avail...still comes up when inserted into the phone as an internal sd card. b/c of this issue, i cant save pretty much anything to my phone, b/c many apps require an external sd source to save to.

I still have the songs I had b4 I've downloaded the 2.1 OS; when I look into the X10 Mini, the "AVAILABLE ROOM" seems to have gotten bigger; but I also have many times in which the phone says: "no SD card found" or "no available storage" and such, regardless all my songs are there(not sure where!), and the "SD and storage" still shows the amount of memory like - Total room: 3.67GB and Available room: 3.11GB; considering I only had about 1.70GB left pryor to the 2.1 OS update!

I have recieved from China, via ebay, a 32gb sd card. It is actually 31.7gb according to my laptop. when i put it in my desire, it will not see it, or just tells me that the sd card needs formatting, then won't format it. Is this because the card is too slow,or is it an OS problem, that will be resolved when Froyo is released?
