HTC EVO 4G :: Take Off All Pics / Music _ Use Phone Settings To Format SD Card?
Jun 8, 2010
So, when i got my evo I took out the 8gig SD card and gave it to my brother and took my old 16gig SD card from my blackberry storm and put it in the evo. now when i plug the phone into the computer I see that the SD card is showing up as Blackberry2(which i guess maybe i named it that? i dont remember) and some of the files in ther are blackberry related things. Should i take off all my pics and music and use the evo phone settings to format the SD card? Does it matter at all if I do or dont?

I'm considering the possibility of selling my Behold 2 phone and getting something a little better supported (anything HTC, for example). I know how to flash the ROM back to the Stock, but, how do I re-format/prepare my MicroSD card in the phone back to it's factory settings?
And is there anything else that anyone thinks I will need to do in preparation for selling it?

I did the 2.1 upgrade and camera seems to have same lagginess. Does anyone have any pointers for how to set camera for responsive pics (I have a 2 year old)? I remember seeing some tips when I first got the phone last year and it helped...I'm having no luck my own. Also, when I go to send a pic with text, it is compressing the pics very small and the quality goes to crap. Went into text setting and set the file size to the largest, but it doesn't seem to help.

My daughter's cell was taken away by her dad (who we don't live with), and she has all of her music and photos on it. We are trying to figure out a way to access and save/download them without having physical access to the phone. I don't know the google/gmail account associated with the phone. Is there any way to change the gmail account for that phone and then be able to access photos and music data? We just want her pictures and music, and the only thing I can figure is that without knowing the gmail account of the phone, there's no other way to get this. Also not sure if it's all saved in the google account since the music was DL'd using 3rd party music apps.

Can you format the card while it's still in the phone and the phone is on? Not from recovery, but just by mounting the card and formatting it through your computer?

Can't figure this one out. I have an SD card in the phone and pics loaded on it from my computer. No problem there.
PROBLEM: The pics I take WITH the phone camera just go somewhere IN the phone - NOT to my SD card. I can't find any option in the pics to "save to SD card" or anything like that. I had the phone updated the other day and it wiped all the pics I had taken with the phone - but not the SD ones. Now I have more photos and no way to save them to the SD card?

I guess I need some expert advice here. My Droid has become increasingly slower due to multiple ROM's I've installed. I noticed that when you uninstall an application, the directories and misc. files are left behind on the SD card. Is there a way to format the SD card and phone then re-install everything?

So I was told by a Sprint rep that if the phone memory gets below about 80 MB then the phone will start to lag. Well I can't seem to delete enough stuff to get back above 80 MB available memory, I deleted pics, texts messages and various apps that I would have liked to keep. I started playing with my wife's phone which has more apps then mine, I checked her available phone memory and she has 102 MB!!! I can't figure out what I could have on my phone memory that would be taking up over 20 MB of space. Where can I look to try and figure this out? My wife's phone is very zippy and quick, while my phone waits forever when switching apps.
Also, How do I transfer pics I have taken on my phone to the SD card instead of using phone memory?

Hi,
After saving my contacts to the SD card, resetting the phone, then importing them all back, the numbers are now in the form of 012-345-67891. Does anyone know how to remove the hyphens?
Thanks

I was hoping to retrieve some accidentally erased pics from my phone with an SD card adapter. When I opened up my phone I was surprised to see that there was NO sd card. who have that memory chip, but is there any hope for me without the card? Incidentally, Google+ backed up a few of my photos.

I had mounted my sd card to transfer files between pc (XP) and eris.
i correctly unmounted from pc (safely remove hardware) and then stopped file sharing on eris.
i took the card out and put in a different one (i don't have a card reader and was trying to transfer some stuff).
when i tried to put the original card back in, my finger slipped as i was pushing it in and it got like halfway in and then popped back out.
the eris saw this as an unsafe removal.
now, it keeps telling me "the sd card is blank or using an unsupported .." something. if i tap on the notification, it just takes to me a window to format it. i keep saying yes to format, but it never formats.
i've tried formatting from settings and tried mounting it again and formatting from the pc. when i do that, the pc says that the drive size is 1.08 TB (?!?!?). this is the 8GB sd card that comes with the eris. and it also won't let me format.
what gives? i've tried taking it out and putting it back in. it keeps saying unsafe removal but the option to unmount is grayed out and i can't choose it.
i tried taking it out, turning off the eris, putting the card in and turning back on. still nothing.
what's going on here?

This app is sooo cool! My Droid is now a DLNA Server. I am streaming my Droid's music, pics and video to my home network's DLNA Clients: PS3, PCs, and WD TV Live. TwonkyMedia Goes Mobile with Android Launch at CES:

I downloaded and installed from the Android Market. When you first start the app, it scans your phone for media. I turned on my Droid's Wifi. The TwonkyServer Mobile was immediately visible to any DLNA or UPnP client. It took 2 minutes. No setup was involved. The UI looks pretty cool too.

Tried doing a search but after sifting through many pages, decide to put in a new topic. I was recording a video using the HTC camcorder. Why does the video save as a .3gp format even though I selected mp4 and 720p in settings? Did I do something wrong? Is it really 720p? Did not know that 3gp had the ability to do HD video.

I am putting some tunes on there, and notice a lot of my music is in AAC format. It plays just fine, but is MP3 better? When I rip a CD to my computer (old Dell notebook w/ Windows Media or an old iTunes program), I can't figure out a way to convert to MP3s.

I have read a bunch a threads and topics regarding music and Android this for the past several days and haven't exactly seen this answered. My music collection is in ITunes on my computer. I don't know much about the different music formats etc, and when I ripped them all my CD's they are in MP4 format. I do know that what little music I bought from ITunes isn't in the format that doesn't let me play it anywhere else. Most of my music was just ripped from my CDs. I know the Incredible will play the MP4's, so is it OK to leave them that way? I realize they will take up more space, but I'm not sure if I should convert them to MP3's. Also, with them being MP4's, can I still utilize the ringtone apps, or are those for use only with MP3's?

I've been looking around for tools for working with MIDI to create soundfonts, but the one mentioned in the Android JET docs (Awave) is a bit pricey for me. Tried Vienna Soundfont Studio but it quickly told me that I have "no soundfont compatible device" on my laptop. Since I'm coming from a GBA/DS homebrew background, my current solution is using the tracker formats (MOD,XM,IT, etc.) and building libmodplug with the NDK. It allows me to bring the size of the 12 music files in my game down from about 15MB (ogg) to 750KB (mod,xm + libmodplug.so size). Anyway, just wondering how other game developers are handling music and what tools you're using. You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
