Every other app I use only uses GPS when the actual app is open. Pretty irritating how Facebook has GPS always on.
Any way to change this? I opened Settings in the App, turned "Message Location service" off. That did nothing.
I don't mind Facebook using GPS, but can I change it so it only uses it while the App is actually open? LS670

I've got problem with Facebook icon on Miui. I see default Facebook icon using any theme (mtz). I'm sure there is the correct icon in package: it's named as "com.facebook.katana". I can see custom one in Applications under Settings menu, but launcher does not show it.
It's the only one app without cutom icon on launcher. Is there any solution?
Actually it's SGS2's MIUI-2.8.17, but I had the same problem on previous release.
I'm a longtime iPhone user (since 3G) who just switched to Android and the Galaxy Note 3 this week. There are several things I miss about iOS, and one of them is badge notifications without the need for a 3rd party app. Ideally, when I'm due a notification from Facebook, I want only a badge notification on the app's icon, like you do in iOS, and I'm getting that with "Missed it!" installed. However, I don't want an actual notification (via audible tone and indicator) in the notification bar. Is it possible to disable notifications via the notification bar, but still have it display a badge notification on the icon?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have another doubt on how to install the apps. As my handset is missing the Android Market icon in my mobile. So I downloaded to my pc and then copied to my mobile. This "7c02815a-e245-102d-a194-6ec07c99d928.apk" file for bluetooth file transfer and using data cable. I copied that file in my video folder (for self knowing folder I pasted) now I don't see that file in my mobile video folder. So how will I install? There are no icons like "Android Market", "Installer Application", or "Application Installer" etc. I am using Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro and 1.6 firmware.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAnyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

Their contact picture has been replaced by another blurry pixellated picture.
Further to this, I notice that the actual contact picture in Facebook for HTC Sense is borked and pixellated. Anyone seen anything like this before?
Is there a way to remove it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've found some other threads discussing the fact that the default shortcut for Facebook is actually just a shortcut to a browser bookmark for Facebook. If you delete this shortcut, you can re-create it, but it has a boring red flag icon. With a custom bookmark app, you could restore this original icon... but only if you know where to find it. Where is that icon stored? It has to be somewhere on the root of the phone. Using root explorer, I can't find it. I'm guessing it's stored inside of an archive somewhere. Any ways to search more thoroughly?
Related: can I somehow use my PC (Windows explorer) to browse the root of the phone?
Or, can I find it somewhere in the original .tar file containing the flash update for the phone?
(running rooted 2.1 DD10, FWIW).
i've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card.The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.

Can I install a new kernel (like rage kernel) without having to install the rom (CM9) again? It will work just replacing the kernel?

i did factory factory reset, cache wipe, and davlik wipe after that flashed the Kernel Aroma installer, the rom and the gapps from this link.after i flashed them i rebooted and the phone doesnt pass the reboot screen, got stuck on it for few seconds and then restart and stuck again.

When i try to enter the recovery mode , it shows a screen with an android and a triangle " ! "

I had done a mistake 2 days ago by installing XGS Serie's ROM in my DHD. After installing the ROM from recovery the phone is'nt booting and just animated X.
