May 5, 2010I hate typing in a web addy and getting the stupid mobile version m.whatever. is there a setting to bypass this and get the actual webpage, in full mode?I'm running 1.6 on an ADP1

HTC Desire HD :: Browsing Internet On T-mobile
Oct 26, 2010I get an error 504 when attempting to browse the internet on t-Mobile. I can use WiFi no trouble and I know that the apps can access the internet as I installed one from the Android Market no trouble. I have a H indicating HSDPA on the phone and have restarted the phone.Is anyone getting the same trouble on their Desire HD on T-Mobile, or any network come to that matter.

Differentiate between main , embedded and redirected URI." I dont know where to search and how to go about it. Any kind of help would be really helpful. Sep 2, 2010Anyone know what special ports android uses to browse the web? Of course it must be port 80, but there has got be an additional port or something. My web server is accessible via computer browsers but not by android unless I turn off the software firewall. Something about the android connection, the firewall doesn't like.

May 27, 2010I have a rooted mytouch 3G and I've been using the barnacle tether app for the last few months for internet on my laptop. Just recently I've been playing online poker on my laptop. It worked fine for about a day or so, then things started to get extremely slow, barely being able to load google (taking about a few minutes to load a basic html page). I don't know if it has something to do with using my phone for a connection with the poker clients or if it's just coincidence with the timing of it, I called T-Mobile and they said there are no problems at all with the coverage in my area and to do a Power cycle which didn't seem to help. Does anyone have ANY idea what could be wrong?

1.- the zoom sucks you can zoom with gestures and all but the way it does it sucks. if you pinch slightly it should zoom by a small amount. in other world i can not zoom in to cover what i want to, it zoom either way pass were i want or completely zooms out. of course this i think is just a programming issue of not taking into consideration of how big is the pinch. This is frustrating me so much.
2.- when you zoom the browser relays out the entire page. which is completely wrong it should not happen. when say zooming in on a column of text that you think can be better read by zooming in the browser does a re-layout and now my text is all over the place. the expectation is the you are zooming into a small portion of the webpage not that you are changing the dimensions of the page or object you are zooming in (<DIV>,<p>,<SPAN> or which ever). they should stay still and let me get a bigger view of the window that i'm trying to view. the fix here would be to zoom in without the weird re-layout. it has sucked so much that what I'm doing is caring my iPhone just to browser the web and my droid for all the rest.

Jan 10, 2010I know that there are browsers like dolphin or xscope that allow multitouch zoom, but I was wondering about something else. I actually happen to like the default browser better than those two, I really just want multitouch. I'm no developer, but I was wondering how possible it would be to take the default browser, and add nothing to it but the multitouch zoom.

But I've yet to found out what's the folder path to those images file. do you know what's the path to that image folder? What would be the path patterns (if any) in other Android phones? May 2, 2010I am the proud owner of a Hero, and like it! The only issue I have is that I use a website to book golf on-line. There's an icon which gives a list of all the courses. On a standard PC there's a bar on the right side of the list which you slide up or down to acess about 50 courses. On the Hero I can open the list, but it only shows the first 6 courses, and not the bar. For the life of me I have tried everything and I can't find a way to access the "hidden"courses. Jul 3, 2010For some reason, I am having trouble click on buttons when browsing.
For example, if I type a post on the facebook mobile web site. And click "post" the buttons becomes gren like I have clicked on it but nothing happens! This is also the case with other pages with clickable buttons.
Turning the power on and off, seems to work for a bit, but then it happens again. I couldn't seem to find anyone having these issues for some reason and it's very annoying because I can't make any posts on Facebook this way.Clicking on an actual link works just fine, however.

I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
Android :: Mobile Apps Vs Mobile Web
Jun 18, 2010Recently I logged into GMail with my browser instead of the GMail app, and discovered what I've read before elsewhere... that the GMail mobile web page seems cooler and better, than the app.
So, I've been thinking... which is better? Is either better? Can they both be equally good?
Either way, it occurred to me, it's interesting that all the Android blogs fall all over themselves almost weekly to come out with various "Best X Android Apps" articles, but I don't think I've seen any articles about the best mobile web pages for Android (or any smart phone for that matter).
I understand the money is to be made in apps, and that not much can (yet) be done with the web that you can do with an app (until we have workable Flash?) but surely there must be some great mobile sites out there that are better than, or equal to, apps?
I'm appealing to all of you then to make your suggestions for Best or at least good mobile web pages to use on our Android phones. I'll be looking around myself, and will possibly turn the results into a blog post of my own.
Here are a couple of starters that seem to be better than the app versions:
- Gmail: nicer interface, quick access to GTalk and Buzz as well as Calender, etc.
- Evernote: www.evernote.com/m Evernote has a really good mobile web site in case you don't want to download the app.

It did shut off when I pushed the power button, but then would not come back on. I removed the battery for a bit and then it seemed to come back on normally. Has this happened to others?
