Jul 21, 2010What can I expect browsing speed wise if I update to 2.2 running froyo? This is really the only thing that bugs me about 2.1.

HTC Droid Eris :: Fast Tethering / 3G Browsing And Download Speed Slow
Aug 23, 2010When I originally used my eris for tethering it was fast almost as fast as my wireless. Past 2 days the wireless has been down due to a storm and I was forced to use phone for internet after not using it for months. Its slow almost dial up slow, even tho the phone shows its in 3G the browsing and download speeds are painfully slow. By the way I am using easy tether.

May 24, 2010So i was out the other night with a few friends and we decided to race our phones going to various web sites. We laid all three phones down in a triangle next to each other. We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. The iphone was not even close. One site took about 15 to 20 seconds longer to load on the iPhone. They were shocked at how fast the incredible was. I am so glad I have this phone!

Jan 12, 2010Ever since the update scrolling through pages in the browser has been embarrassingly laggy. Pages that used to scroll smooth as butter from top to bottom now chug along as if you're asking it to load uncompressed hi-def images on the fly.

Sep 19, 2010I've had my DroidX for about 2 weeks now. Last night while browsing it just locked up....no response to any screen or button presses. It did shut off when I pushed the power button, but then would not come back on. I removed the battery for a bit and then it seemed to come back on normally. Has this happened to others? Is this "normal?" Normal like how windows sometimes just locks up?

Nov 18, 2009This is my first touchscreen phone and I am having trouble getting use to it and was wondering if there were any tricks to it. While scrolling a page with my finger I often find I am inadvertently clicking a link I didn't intend or two links are close together and my finger makes contact with the wrong one first and in both cases I have to stop loading the page I dont want, hit menu and back to reload the page I did want and start scrolling over again.I also find it unnatural that the phone can scroll in both the x and y directions at the same time. It makes sense to scroll in whatever direction is more predominant.

The only app I have that turns the led blue is blink but I have it set to flash blue for incoming and missed calls, however, I didn't have any missed calls and there were no notifications in the tray.

Sep 1, 2010Ever since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.
Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.
I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.

Jul 26, 2010I'm not sure if this is just me, but it's kind of strange. My web browsing goes 10X faster if I'm not tonnected to my Wifi at home. I have a wireless G setup, and the phone is connected to it with full signal strength. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Nov 23, 2009With low use - screen at almost 0, pandora for less an hour, browsing for less then an hour and some mild txting/emailing, my phones about to die. I rarely get 8 hours of use like this. Screen times out at 15 seconds, all GPS, WiFi and BT off......all the tricks and tips.
I am thinking of exchangin it, but i really dont want to have to re-install all my apps and widgets, input all my contacts and re-set everything up like I have it. ive had the phone since day 1, and have spent a ton of time tweaking it how i like it.
Is this info stored on the SD card so it can be easily swapped over to the new phone?

Jul 28, 2010I traded my Dinc in for an X. I was getting about 2mb down and 1.8 up. Now with the X I am at .5 to .8 and less for up. This is very noticeable! Surfing the web on the X is too slow. Anyone else considering getting rid of the X for something faster? I am at about 74db signal strength and 4 bars.

Sep 26, 2010I have noticed much better download speeds since updating to the most recent 2.2 leak (same as the OTA) even though i dont have the new radio. i rarely (if ever) got above 1Mbps. now i've been hovering anywhere between 1.8 and 2.0. i'm very happy about this. before, i was around 600-800k. Where is everyone else? I'm curious about how speeds are in different parts of the country, and if you have before/after results.

down: .21mbps
up: .49mbps
ping: 189ms
i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though
Motorola Droid :: Mflops Vs ROM Speed?
Mar 30, 2010I just wanted to get some thoughts on this. I have been using the Mflops people post to judge how fast a ROM is running, but I just came across something that seems to contradict what I had thought. I have been using ultimate droid at 1250mhz and was able to get about 10mflops out of it. I thought it ran pretty darn fast compared to some others I tried. I now loaded up cyanogen with Bekit Kernal 7X1300LV. The operating system and all the apps are running at incredible speeds when set to 1100mhz (slower that where I was with the ultimate droid). Now I am getting 8-9mflops but it is clearly running a lot faster. Can someone explain the relationship? Is it incorrect to judge soley on Mflops?

contacts/msg loads just as quick as stock. browser still has the same speed (somewhat choppy, not silkly like the iphone but still fast, im assuming it has to do w/ the way the developers coded the scrolling).
so am i missing something? went back to unrooted stock and i dont feel the phone being any slower..
so I'm just curious where you guys see the blazing difference

I'm loving my Droid so far and I just rooted it today with Sholes 1.2 ROM. I'm not that impatient to install a 2.1 ROM on my phone, as I already like 2.0.1 enough to keep it stock.I was curious about installing some of the 2.1 apps on it, which is why I ended up installing Sholes 1.2. However, I've noticed that it seems to take quite a bit of my memory compared to stock 2.0.1. In fact, it seems to run slower in general than the stock 2.0.1. Is there any way to improve this, or should I just wait for the 2.1 OTA?

Oct 6, 2010I just recently got the D2 after having the D1 for a year. I loved the D1 and loving the D2 as well, except for a couple of minor issues, but one that is really bugging me is the speed of the network on the D2. I've tested with the D1 and was getting over 1Mbps frequently. I have tried in numerous locations, different parts of the city, different times of days, and keep getting very slow test results. On the status bar it reads 3G, and the tests come back at 129kbps, 102, 165. Horrible IMO. I have *228 many times, is there anything else I'm missing? Or is this a known problem? I've searched and came up with nada.
