Sep 26, 2010I'm currently running bb.05, every time I click super user it just force closes. All of my rooted apps open and run fine. Has anyone else experienced this? I restarted my phone but it had no affect.

Sep 10, 2010I searched on how to completely remove both of these and one method was using Terminal Emulate. When i tried this method and typed in su to start the process it would say "permission denied". Do i have to reroot my phone again in order to get rid of these two apps? I'm doing this in order to take my phone to verizon. Do you guys think its necessary to make it perfectly clean of any "rooted" things? May 21, 2010I have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?

The situation is, I am extending (subclass-ing) an class from a library, and overriding a method. how do I know if I should invoke the method of super-class? and when? (in the beginning of the overridden method or in the end?)
For example, I am overriding the method "public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu)" from class "Activity" in Android platform. And I saw someone write "return super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu)" in the end of the method, in an example. But how do I know it should be done this way? and it is correct or not? what's the difference if I begin my method with "super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu)"?

Android :: Super Fast Autocomplete Using Binary Search In Sorted File
Sep 15, 2010In my Android app I want to have an input field with autocomplete. The number of items will be about 300000. The best solution seems to be to put the items into a file (on sdcard), one item per line, each line would have the same number of characters so that I can seek to specific line number. If the user enters something in the text field, I would binary search (via RandomAccessFile) the file and show suggestions.I want the autocomplete to be super fast (ideally under 100ms but I guess it's impossible), what optimizations I can do?

I will convert the users input to lowercase english characters (a-z) with spaces. So 'A/b' would be converted to 'a b' and then searched.

Nov 7, 2010Where is the UI state information (used in super.onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState)) stored and how can it be deleted from another app or command line on a rooted phone?
I need to delete the user data (username, password) of both the native Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) and the stock browser on Android (com.android.browser) on a rooted phone via command line (which I call from my own app) or elsewhere from my own app.
This is what I'm calling:
rm /data/data/com.android.browser/cache/webviewCache/* rm /data/data/com.android.browser/databases/* killall -9 com.android.browser
rm /data/data/com.facebook.katana/cache/webviewCache/* rm /data/data/com.facebook.katana/databases/* killall -9 com.facebook.katana
After I kill the facebook process, I check the running processesand there is no FB process running anymore. I then restart FB via long-press on home and choosing the FB app. Previous username/password still show on the login screen (= same screen as I left it before I killed the app). When I then press 'back' on the device, and then start the app again via home long-press / select FB, the login screen is empty.
Where do the values for username/password come when I start FB again in the first place? I assume that the login activity still retrieves the savedInstanceState, but how could that be avoided - or else, where are those UI states actually stored, in order to delete them? Shouldn't the restarted app, after all it's processes are killed, already be in a new lifecycle?
Same problem is with the stock browser: if i leave the browser and I'm on the login page of for example gmail.com where the username/password is entered (but form not submitted yet), then killing the browser process, the values (username) entered into the form will still be there after restarting the app again after it's been killed.

Aug 11, 2010I have no idea, but my app is stalling sometimes completely (not responding to touching the screen) I thought I was following all the rules for threading, but my app is apparently slowing down the Sprint EVO! I have never used an app as slow as my own. I don't get an ANR dialog, though I think I probably should get getting one. I have no idea how to make this application run like every other app I've ever used -- Not freezing. Is it not a good idea to have one HttpClient and keep a static reference to it for all Activities that want to use it? I used to create a new one each time, and thought that changing it to one sped it up. None of my AsyncTasks ever end. If I go to Activity A -> B -> C -> D the first time it will be smooth. I can press back but when I get back to A, its completely frozen, not responding to anything. That when I took that screenshot. I really have no clue what I am doing wrong. Should I manually kill my AsyncTasks on Activity.onPause()?

Jul 25, 2010Is it me or are the super amoled screesn simply not as sharp as normal lcd screens such as the EVO or Droids?I am a stickler for a sharp screen and looking at the super amoleds seems like looking as font constructed from lego blocks.The resolution grid, if you will, is very obvious/visible and not very impressive.I noticed this first on the Droid Incredible and to a worst extent on the Samsung Galaxy S which I looked at yesterday.I am simply not very impressed at either of these screens and wonder if we will suffer the same visual fate in the event that a future superphone or even subsequent revisions of the EVO switches to the amoled screens. Sure the colors are great but if that means blocky font then I am not willing to take one step forward and two backward.To be honest I am completely satisfied with color on my EVO, just wished resolution was higher.
