View 6 RepliesLast night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?
I have some pre-installed applications on my G1 (IM, HiDialer, some Chinese appplications etc.) But i cannot uninstall them. It just says: uninstall not succesful. I read some other topics about this and there werent many answers. Only thing some people reply is just: get rooted. What if I am rooted? Then how do I uninstall them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I am frequently getting a "low on application space" msg telling me to delete apps. Does anyone know how to allocate more of the 4+gb I seem to have free in phone storage OR clear cache or something? It doesn't seen right to have 4gb free and be so low on app space that I can't exec Google Talk without deleting applications 1st.

3.Terminal emulator ( From the Attachment )

This is my first experience with Android. Is there a way to delete or at least hide the icon for unwanted or unneeded applications such as corporate calendar?

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen messing around with the Moment for a couple of days now. The battery life kinda sucks but the phone is very cool. Fast downloads and the Android Market is great. how to remove apps that came preloaded ie: weather channel, bejeweled demo? Also when you return to the browser it takes you back to where you returned to the home screen telling me it keeps pages running. Any idea how to stop or shut them down when you exit them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright so I just downloaded the Froyo OTA update.I don't want to do anything too crazy with my phone, however there are a couple of things I would like to change.
1. Delete HTC lock screen, I read if you delete the htclockscreen.apk it will just use the standard "vanilla" froyo one
2. Delete all of the bloatware apps (Sprint Nav, TV, Zone, Nascar, Football, etc)
3. Wifi Tether
Will I be able to do this with just root or do I need a custom ROM? I have read through XDA and on here but I am in over my head. I'm used to jailbreaking iPhones in one step or just installing Preware.I really don't want to have to reset my phone since I have finally got it set up and looking the way I like. Can someone point me in the direction of what I need to do (unrevoked?) to enable the three things I listed? Because I am lost with rooting and unlocking nand and custom ROMs and kernels. Is it even possible to root the OTA right now, or do I need to wait?
I am having trouble removing apps. I go to "All apps", touch and hold on the app I want to delete until the front page comes up with the trash can saying remove. I drag it over top of it and let go. But then I go check, and it still shows up on the "All apps" page. What am I missing/doing wrong?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis phone comes with a ton of apps pre-installed out of the box. When I go into Setting>Applications>Manage Applications, it does not give me the option to delete these apps (e.g. city ID). View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Incredible. I really love it a lot, but I have a few questions if someone could clear them up for me. There are a bunch of pre-loaded apps on my phone (Facebook, twitter, stocks, my verizon) and they are always running in the background according to my task killer app. I want to get rid of them, and I have read that you cannot unless you "root" your phone. What exactly does rooting do? I know that it can permanently mess up your phone, so, is it worth it? Do you think that htc will update android to enable you to delete these pre-loaded apps?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSome of you might have seen my posts over the past few days indicating that I just rooted my phone a couple days ago.
Well, I began fooling around and I ALREADY caused a BIG PROBLEM!!
GOOD news is that I backed up and was able to recover using my Clockworkmod recovery option so I'm up and running.
Here's my problem...I installed Move2SD Enabler to free up some space on my phone and move apps to my SD card. I must have gotten a little overzealous and moved stuff I shouldn't have. I'm tried to be selective with what I moved but SOMETHING(s) I moved the phone apparently did not like.
What happened was I some shortcuts on my home screens yielded a message that the app "could not be found" or "was not installed." When I went to the app drawer, the apps I moved to the SD card were NOT showing up in the app drawer list. Then I launched "Manage Applications" the apps I moved on the SD card were listed but only with the package name (e.g., com.something.whatever) and with a generic dark-grey icon with a little "SD" in the bottom right corner. I could not launch any of the moved apps and also could not connect to the Market to reinstall!
Anyway, I fixed my problem with a Recovery.
What I want and feel I NEED to do now is to find All the apps I moved to the SD card and delete them so they do not cause a conflict (and, to just get them off my card).
Can someone tell me (1) where to find the apps I moved to the SD card?? and (2) how to find their location either using my computer (Mac) or Astro file manager so I can delete what I moved.
I am STABLE now and functioning with my backup...just what to get rid of the remnants that caused me problems!=
I have a psychotic need to delete unused apps on my phone (voice dialer, face unlock etc.).
I frequently update to the latest nightlies when I am on a specific rom. However every time I do so the rom will reinstall system apps that I delete because they are useless. To delete system apps I have to use an app which is annoying.
Is there anyway to blacklist apps to automatically uninstall them when I update my nightlies?
Is there a way to delete preinstalled apps on the Vibrant? If I can get rid of them how I do disable them? I keep using task killer to kill these apps but they start on their own.
