Apr 30, 2010Is there a way to delete unwanted apps on a stock phone? I got an update last week and it came with some stupid trial games that I don't want. When I go into app management to remove it, there is no unistall option. I hate how we are forced to keep some apps.

Nov 22, 2013is there any way to hide updates in Google Play for apps you do NOT want to update? A couple examples would be Google Maps (the latest version lacks zoom buttons and some other features, so I stick with an older, better, modded version: [URL]... ) and Yahoo Mail (recent updates now have ads in the inbox which look like emails). Of course, whenever I update other apps, unwanted ones like these are in the list. Besides being a visual annoyance, it eliminates the usage of the "Update All" feature.

Feb 18, 2010I am able to launch browser and open site "google.com" and from my App successfully. I have a requirement that when the browser is launched from my application, I have to hide the address bar visible at top for that browser session. So can think of that I dont want the address that I am trying to open to be visible to users.Please let me if this is possible and and if yes how.

Aug 18, 2009I am developing a phone application with my own GUI , I want to receive incoming call event. I am able to receive it using Broadcast receiver ,
But after receiving in My Broadcast receiver. Native phone application GUI comes to foreground and my application GUI goes to background. I do not want native GUI to be displayed on screen , How can i disable native phone application GUI.
Is there any way to disable broadcast intent or any other suggestion for displaying my application GUI instead of native phone app gui.

Oct 29, 2010I work 24 hours shifts, and on my calendar I have those shifts set up as all day events. I made them in Outlook, it syncs with Google Calendar. I use Jorte as my calendar app. Every night where I am scheduled to work later that day, at midnight, I get a chime for that all day event. How do I turn this off, but not ALL of the notifications? Just for the all day ones.

Jun 6, 2010I don't know the name of the method I used but its the one that calls for you to place the file called "PC36IMG.zip" on the root of your sd card and then reboot into the boot loader. I followed the instruction and it seemed to flash ok, but now i'm trying to find out where to find the terminal/CLI so I can delete unwanted stock app like amazon music shop or nascar tv. All the instructions say to open the terminal or CLI and type in a particular path in order to delete the apks that those apps use. The problem is the guides never say where to find the terminal. Is it somewhere on the phone? Is it something I download, do i need to connect the phone to a linux computer to find the terminal?

Apr 26, 2010i just got my behold 2 & was so frustrated about not being able to delete all my unwanted emails all at once...what a terrible feature not to have. but i found the solution...just go to market & download the "K9" application & it's done. you can select all emails, then delete AND they don't go to a "junk" folder...they are gone for good. maybe everyone knows about K9 already but i just had to share this wonderful information for anyone encountering this!!

Oct 14, 2011I added a nice wallpaper for my phone, but when i lock the phone my clock is displayed over the picture which doesn't look nice I want to remove my clock from lockscreen.
Else, All together a nice app which locks screen with picture would be nice (like sliding the picture to unlock the screen) or picture BG in the lock screen ...(like windows 7)

Mar 16, 2010I am looking for a bit of info and/or a tut on how to remove apps with the rooted 2.1 for the Eris ( BTW thanks to all the dev's for their hard work). I have installed the rooted 2.1 with out a hitch. I have been looking around to find out how to uninstall a few of the apps (amazon, stocks, tweet) and found people that say to use SDK's ADB or terminal. I understand what the terminal is and the SDK that google offers is but not the ADB. I also understand that there is a chance to brick by removing the wrong things. So I don't want to just make a careless mistake.

May 8, 2012I have an Acer A100 tablet that I've upgraded to ICS (the upgrade went very smoothly, by the way). But under both ICS and the original Honeycomb, the Android OS has an annoying habit of starting a bunch of apps automatically. Facebook, Google Maps, media players and a whole host of apps that I do NOT want to start all by themselves. I found an "Advanced Task Manager" that will check every 5 minutes and kill unwanted apps automatically. But every time I check it there are still half a dozen apps running in the background that I don't want.
If it were just one or two apps, I would simply uninstall them. But it seems like half the factory apps are intent on restarting themselves no matter how many times they're turned off. My Acer has a very small battery, and I suspect I'd get much better battery life if it would only run the apps that I start manually.
Other than email and the system update manager, I really don't want any apps running in the background. And when I turn an app off, I want it to stay off until I restart it. Is there a way to edit the list of programs that start automatically? Do they all have to be disabled individually? I've checked a few of the apps, and don't see any way to disable the "automatic log-in", "check for new data" or whatever each program might call it's annoying insistence on starting whenever it wants to.
