View 3 RepliesAs it says above really. I've rooted to the new Froyo with sense release (seems slow but stable) and all was well until I restored with mybackup pro. Some apps were missing even though they showed as installed and even so, I've got A LOT less internal memory than before and I'm still having to uninstall stuff
I thought Froyo was supposed to let you install apps to SD?
I had to clear my contact data the other day from settings/applications/manage applications/contacts storage to cure a google mail account sync problem. It worked and the phone now syncs fine. But, I now have duplicates of all facebook events in all my calendars. Can I safely delete the data in settings/applications/manage applications/Facebook for HTC Sense? do you think if I did that that it would sort the problem? Would this cause issues with my contacts, as some are linked to Facebook friends, or would this sort its self out when it re-synced?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way for restoring apps after a ROM install. Currently I am using Defrost but it updates that often I try to keep up. I have got into the practice of making a backup using ROM manager then doing a full cache and data wipe before installing the new ROM.
I have been letting the phone do its own thing and eventually the apps seem to restore themselves eventually, but is there a quicker way to restore them after a full wipe.
How do i reinstall saved apps and settings when i have flashed a new rom .Iassume it is possible .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering what actually happens with all the apps and widgets that come with Sense UI. I assume none of them will work anymore once the Desire is rooted? Or will they stay and still be useable? Can you download them somewhere again from HTC for example and install on a rooted device?
I heard of custom Roms that will let you root the device and still use some HTC apps. Is that correct or is there no such thing?
Finally, a question that might be a bit of speculation currently. With HTC introducing the new www.htcsense.com website with features such as SMS backup for life, contact editing, app shop, etc.... some of the stuff like the SMS backup sound very interesting but now I am wondering if these features will be available for rooted devices. Anybody has any ideas about that?
Would be kind of unfair if rooted devices could not use this HTC service.
A few weeks ago I switched my EVO 4G to the standard Android 2.1 UI through the widely publicized "clear defaults" and "force stop", then pressing "Home" and selecting to default to the Android launcher. This worked very well. Unfortunately for me, I thought this was just going to be a test drive. I wanted to see how it compared to Sense UI, but now I can't figure out how to re-activate Sense. According to the description of the process for other Android phones with Sense, you are supposed to be able to turn Sense back on by doing essentially the same process. Select application "HTC Sense", and do "clear defaults" and "force stop" again. Then press the Home button, and select to default to Sense UI when asked.
This doesn't work on my EVO 4G. When I perform these steps, pressing the Home button has no effect. There is no popup asking which UI to use as default. The standard Android UI remains in effect. I've done a fair amount of google searching, but haven't seen any explanation how to do this so far. I'm hoping that it's possible without wiping the phone back to its initial state. Anyone know how to restore Sense? I'd like to experiment with it, at least until the day Froyo comes out for it.
I have a desire, unlocked and debranded running 2.2, since installing it last Sunday I keep getting a low memory message. I have moved apps to sd, deleted seldom used apps that were on the internal memory and gone through and cleared the cache down on browser and apps.
What else can I do to free up internal memory, is the only way to remove unwanted HTC apps eg. Stocks, tweet etc to root and run a custom Rom?
How do you delete a custom HTC Sense "Scene" once you have saved it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedLast night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?
I have a rooted Hero, running Fresh 2.3.3 ROM with DarchKernel786. I use LauncherPro and want to delete HTC sense from taking up so much internal memory! Is this possible? Also, i want to remove some stock apps like Peep from my phone as well, but they do not show up under app uninstaller. I've read that root explorer app can accomplish this, but the app was really confusing and I didn't understand. Can someone help me out?

If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.

View 7 Replies View RelatedGeneralized Android question. I'm currently on an HTC Hero, getting an HTC Aria. I am only a couple weeks into the Hero so still learning. When I move to the Aria, is there an easy way to restore the apps I have already put on my Hero or do I need to download them individually, again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new D2 as a replacement for my D1. I like it, but I hate mutable. I have been able to successfully replace the messaging app to stock androids, but I am looking to replace the dialer, contacts app, and the car dock to the stock android ones. Any advice on how to do so? I cant install via an adb connection, and I cant install it with any file managers, so I really don't know what else to try. Also, please dont suggest any ROMs, I prefer to do it all myself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering how do you get your apps on your SD card back after installing a new ROM? I run a backup using MyBackup Pro and after installing a new ROM and restoring from my backup, my apps that I had moved over to my SD Card don't show up on my phone. I have to reinstall them. Is there anyway to recover them from my SD Card automatically.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI backed up all my apps using Go Backup, so there's now about 500MB worth of files all waiting to be restored. The reason I did the backup was that I was to flash a new ROM, which I did.
However, upon reinstalling Go Backup, I found that it doesn't recognize my backed up files anymore compared to the previous days I used it. Researching about the issue I soon realized that the problem is encountered my numerous people, all of whom losing their files because of Go Backup's inability to recognize files from their last update.
I tried installing Pro and the previous versions, but it wasn't successful.Yes, I can install the apk files one by one, but that would be quite a hassle whenever I'd flash a new ROM.
EDIT: So I tried reinstalling each apk with their corresponding tar files. Turns out there are some that can't be installed, the games. Agent Dash and Subway Surfr apks, for instance, would give me the message: there was a problem parsing the package. I guess I need Go Backup after all.
When i go to restore all m apps in a batch it will not let them just auto install i have to select install each time one pops up. Is this the only way to reinstall my apps? It said if i use donate version but i cant find that in the market? This is the one things that turns me off from trying new ROMS.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA question for all the frequent ROM-switchers. I've got the premium edition of Titanium, and up 'till now, every time I try out a new ROM, I have to re-load all my apps/data. It's not terribly inconvenient - I just do the batch 'restore apps/data' option - but I still have to 'confirm' the re-loading of each app, and it takes forever. It give me an 'install' prompt for each app which I have to press. Is there a faster way of restoring all my apps/data?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use my google account on 2 devices: galaxy s3 and nexus 10 tab.i recently flashed on my s3 a paranoid rom. there, i was asked to sign in to my google account (like always when u set up a phone) but then it downloaded automatically all apps i had on my phone before (under play store ALL) and id also knew, which apps i just use on my tablet and did not install those! know, i finally found which rom i prefer to use from now on (cyanomod).
How to force playstore to restore the device like id happend on the other rom? and NO, have no other backups of my app, and the app data is not importent, i just dont want to download all apps manually.
We have lots of apps that sometimes need different kinds of ringtones. Have any of you found a good solution for restoring ringtones when switching between roms?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had upgraded my Galaxy Gio from stock rom to custom rom (CM 7.2 based), and now I want to restore just a few apps + data (for e.g. Memo) and Contacts (from stock rom) from my Nandroid backup, so I want it should be on the current custom rom.
How far I tried to do so, I could'nt get it done. I tried with NANDROID MANAGER, I installed it and tried to restore some apps + their data, (the apps was in previous rom in System/Apps so Nandroid Manager automatically wanted to install it in system/apps), ok, the program showed as it's installed with no broblems, BUT after reboot as it required, NOTHING HAPPENED, so I looked in system/apps and data/data with root explorer, those apps & data were there, but it was not installed.....
I also tried to restore the Contacts from Nandroid (Contacts Storage), and I ended up with erasing all contacts I had currently on the phone (anyway that wasn't a problem, cause i had an regular backup of it).
So I would like to understand what the problem is, and how is it possible to have my previous memos and contacts restored to my current rom?
I had previously used a wvga device and backed everything up on titanium backup. No I have anew qhd device, can I restore the alls and they will function normally? or will there be graphical errors?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am under the impression that Nandroid backup & restore completely wipes the system data and overwrites with a saved image of the Android OS with whatever was on the phone at the time of backup. I created a backup to my SD Card, installed an app (ROM Manager)--couldn't get it to work so I uninstalled it. I then did a restore on my previously saved backup and right after booting up, I see a notification, open it, and catch ROM Manager downloading again to, eventually, install itself. How does the market, or my phone, know that this app was previously installed? Is it saved to my Google account somewhere? Is the data stored on my SD Card? My Nandroid backup that was created without the app being installed shouldn't have this information still on it should it?
