Is there any way to remove the apps that came with the phone for example the Sprint Nascar thing and others? I want to clean up the clutter so I dont have to sort through 100 apps to find one.

To do this you need
1-Rooted android
2-Root Explorer ( From the Attachment )
3.Terminal emulator ( From the Attachment )
Step 1 : Locate the stock app that you want to delete
you can locate the app by search for the app using Root Explorer
For Example ( calculator2.apk )
Step 2 :
Open the Terminal emulator and type
Code:
$ su [ ENTER ]
# mount -o rw.remount /system [ ENTER ]
rm -r /system/app/FILE-NAME.apk ( For Example : calculator2.apk ) [ ENTER ]
Step 3 : Check If the App deleted or not.
Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?
I've seen this type of comment a few times lately and it's got me wondering if I should take the time to delete the stock launcher. I'm using LauncherPro.
From Chevy:
"If you DO use another launcher, use my tools to DELETE the stock Launcher2 (it will back up to SD). Otherwise, it will still take resources even though you don't run it."
That being said, how do I delete the stock launcher on CM RC3? Root Explorer?
I don't know the name of the method I used but its the one that calls for you to place the file called "PC36IMG.zip" on the root of your sd card and then reboot into the boot loader. I followed the instruction and it seemed to flash ok, but now i'm trying to find out where to find the terminal/CLI so I can delete unwanted stock app like amazon music shop or nascar tv. All the instructions say to open the terminal or CLI and type in a particular path in order to delete the apks that those apps use. The problem is the guides never say where to find the terminal. Is it somewhere on the phone? Is it something I download, do i need to connect the phone to a linux computer to find the terminal?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently got my HTC hero and I have a question about the messaging app. First of all, I am currently using Handcent mainly because if you use the stock app, texts always show up on the lock screen even if you are using the pattern lock. That is annoying, and I don't understand what the point of the pattern lock is if you can just see my texts without having to even unlock my phone...anyway, so I am using handcent and it's fine. I've made sure to remove notifications on the stock app so that I don't get double notifications, but my question is: is there a way to delete the stock app? I mean is the phone going to slow down since it is getting texts from 2 apps, does that make sense? Even though the notifications are disabled for the stock app, the texts still go there and they are also going to handcent...
So basically i would like to know if:
1. i can delete the stock app (i have rooted my phone so...)
2. does it matter that the phone is pulling texts to two different apps
3. is there a way to make my texts not go to my lock screen, if so i would just not use handcent
Finally, on handcent, i will oftentimes get a text twice from people. does anyone have this problem?
I somehow managed to delete one of the stock notification sounds (galaxy s3 - stock unrooted) i know if you restart the phone it brings it back but I've restarted it 3 times.

But if I delete the messages from the phone shouldn't they be deleting from the server as well? I would like to see them gone the next time I actually sign into my hotmail account from my laptop but they aren't. I have to physically delete them again from my laptop for them to actually be gone. I am trying to delete large text messaging threads in the stock messaging app on my Sprint HTC Hero. It is taking an inordinate amount of time to accomplish this task. I deleted one thread that had a mere fifteen texts in and that took over ten seconds. Now, I just tried deleting a thread that has one hundred texts in and it has been minutes and it still has not deleted the thread. Has this happened to anyone else? Would deleting the data in the "Manage Applications" section delete these texts faster or would that be inadvisable? In my opinion this deletion lag is ridiculous.

Whether I select just one person (and therefore one thread) to delete or deleting my entire inbox, my phone locks up, messaging crashes/force closes. So yeah, I'd love to delete everything there but my local weather as I added two cities by accident pressing the wrong area and I could care less what the weather is in New York. Any idea if this is doable? I've tried holding my finger on it, looking under "menu", deleting New York from the World Clock app (widget? So I rooted a little while back & have only been having problems. For whatever reason, the only rom I can get to work is Fresh 2.3. I've tried installing CM1, the nightlies, both the blue & vanilla themed version, and darchroid 2.8. I couldn't even get CM1 and darchroid 2.8 to get past the white htc screen. Is there any way I can get back to stock 2.1 and unroot? I'm hoping if I do that and try rooting again then maybe things will work. Also, is there any way to delete all the bloatware on fresh 2.3? I love the performance of the rom but I can't deal with how little memory it leaves me.

Fast downloads and the Android Market is great. how to remove apps that came preloaded ie: weather channel, bejeweled demo? Also when you return to the browser it takes you back to where you returned to the home screen telling me it keeps pages running. Any idea how to stop or shut them down when you exit them?
