I am not trying to disable the notification just want to know which application controls it. Does this application come with every android phone? i assume the answer is "yes". correct me if i am wrong.

The guy that owns this phone told me this came with the ROM he installed on his phone. But is their an app that does this aswell?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAn app or mod that will use the microphone to sense the amount of noise around you and adjust the notifications accordingly - that is to say when its quiet, next to my bed and I am sleeping I want it to be all quiet sounds - but when I am working and there is fan noises and other stuff that is louder then normal I want the notifications to be loud - but if I walk into the break room which is quiet I want it to be quiet again - or if I am listening to music in a room or car turn up the notifications so I can here them and back down when not. You know take a sound reading and turn up or down the volume of the notification that is happening at that given time.
Only problem being when its in your pocket it will always seem to be quieter then normal so they will be quiet also, so there would need to be something to listen to the sound and determine if its being muffled by a pocket or whatever and turn it up then - if playing a sound and analysing that sound it should be able to determine what environment the phone is in, like a pocket or bag that will make it quieter. I am not even sure if i am describing this properly but I know someone can probably figure it out, but it might have to be something the manufacturer does, like that phone that has 2 microphones to auto cancel out background noises like a bluetooth headset.
I want to set my phone to ring only. I don't want any other notifications (text, email, etc.) to make any noise or vibrate. No matter what I do, when I set the Ringer Volume the Notification Volume gets set to the same value.

If there was any app that would allow me to control volume of various other applications. One thing I really loved about my old Blackberry is I could set up a profile that muted everything except calls. When I go to sleep at night I want to be able to get a phone call in case of an emergency, but don't want to hear my email/twitter etc. Apps going off all night. Is there anything out there for my Moment that can accomplish this same thing?

It's been happening for a few months, it worked ok for the first 6 months I had the phone, I've tried numerous PCs and cables, but nothing has worked. I'm currently stuck on v1.5 of Android.I've contacted Orange, but they've just passed me on to HTC, can anyone help before I just give up and buy an iphone?!

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe "USB Connected" notification stays on after the USB is disconnected, there's no way to evict it other than a reboot but now will reboot only if USB is reconnected to PC or Charger.I was so pleased by my new Galaxy S cell 3 days ago after a week of exploring and managing to get the best carrier and plan for this bright Samsung Smartphone. Then, the day after it lockup, but removing the battery for few seconds then replacing it back fixed that problem for that day. The following day been great too up the second lockup at night and this time, removing temporarily the battery did not permit to have the cell working anymore.So today I have been trying all day to determine under what condition these lockups occur. During those tests, I've first determined that during charging or during USB PC connection, I could repower up the Galaxy S. Then the cell could work for long period of time if connected to USB PC or power supply, but when I remove the USB cable, the firmware fail to detect that there is no more USB connection and start to flash every couple of seconds the message "USB connected" replacing the status bar at the top of the screen.
Then after several minutes, the cell freeze, and only by removing for few seconds the battery and then plugging the charger again, will permit to successfully power up the phone.I have of course made a Hard Reset to Factory Default, to no avail, during those tests. I think it's a hardware malfunctioning around the USB Port section. The connector look good seen with loop and both USB cable seem ok.If it's corrected by an update, I wonder if I'll be able to re-flash under this condition.
Is it possible to disable the notification sound that plays when I connect my phone to my PC? I tried upchucking SD card notifications, but thats not it. It is really annoying to have to hear that loud sound when I am in the office. Thanks
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S3 on the Bell Mobile network in Canada, and aside from the horrendous battery life, it's a pretty good phone. One thing I notice that's kinda annoying is the "Connected to Wi-Fi network [network name]" pop-up that comes up quite often. I've managed to snap a screenshot of it.
How to disable this? The only info I've found so far is on the Verizon pop-ups, and entering the *#6335623# code on the dial screen, but nothing comes up when I try that, and I'm not even sure that fix would work for this.
I am looking to add controls to adjust screen brightness locally in my app menu but can't seem to figure out how to do it. I have seen examples to max-out or dim brightness but I am looking to add controls so that the user can control and set the brightness level. Does anyone have any examples, tutorials, source code, or just a place to point me in the right direction?

Lately, I've noticed it has been having connection issues. I start the hotspot, my laptop "sees" it. And I can connect (shows "connected" in the wifi window next to "FoxFi" on laptop). But, at the top of the same wifi window, it also shows (under "Currently connected to:"), "No internet access" (or something - connected right now on different wifi network, so I can't get the exact wording). But I hope this is clear.
Why this weird contradiction? One part of the window says I'm connected, the other says I'm not.
I posted this earlier but it disappeared? When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.

I'm somewhat familiar with the SDK, but not very experienced. This would be my first application from scratch. I'm looking to you, developers, to help vet my idea and see if it's possible or not. Here's the idea: The application has 1 purpose: allow the user to manage which color LED to use for any application notifications? This would include things like: Facebook friend requests, new Emails, new SMS, other 3rd party applications, etc. Anything that has an associated notification LED, they should be able to select the color. I am assuming that my application can see which applications use the notification system, and inject itself somewhere in between.

View 11 Replies View RelatedIs it just me or does the Facebook app (both Android and HTC Sense versions) absolutely suck? I just came from a Blackberry Storm and while that phone is horrid, at least they got the Facebook implementation down. The Android app doesn't seem to pick up any notifications or events and I have yet to figure out what the HTC Sense version does other than sync Facebook pictures and spam my phonebook with people I never talk to. Let me give you some examples of my frustration: Someone invites me to an event. On Blackberry: The Facebook e-mail shows up in my gmail inbox but BB filters it out and it shows up as a notification in the Facebook app. I can open up the notification, see all of the event information in the app, including a description, who's invited and it is automatically added to my phone's calendar, along with all relevant information. On Droid Incredible: The Facebook e-mail shows up in my gmail inbox as an e-mail. No notification because the Facebook app polls. I open the app and refresh everything (notifications, inbox, friends etc) but the event doesn't show up. With no other choice, I open up the link in the inbox and it brings me to the Facebook Touch (not mobile) site, which only shows the bare minimum information (time and place). No idea how to add it to my calendar other than manually typing in all of the information......

I know it's a standing issue with the androids not receiving email notifications from the regular email app but is there an APP that will just notify me of email? Doesn't have to view it or anything just alert me as I am satisfied with the original email app. I've tried K-9 and it closes unexpectedly all the time and I find it unreliable with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S). I've also tried Maildroid which I wasn't too impressed with.

The key here is the extra data on the Intent for the notification. Once I click on the notification and it brings up SomeActivity, it brings up the activity and the extra data is available.
However, if I exit the app, hold the home button until the recent activities list comes up, and choose to open the app again, the extra data is still passed. Is there a way I can make this data get passed only if the app is opened via the Notification, and not from the recent activities list?
I got an app with tabs and a notification bar entry, when I send it to background (click on home button) and try to re-open the application via click on the notification bar, the app restarts (last selected tab is lost).
When I hold the home button if the application is in the background and select it from there or click the app's icon on the homescreen, the previous state is restored per default (the correct tab is selected)
IMO the intent of the notification is wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
In short: How to get a background application back to foreground when I click the notification entry?
I am migrating a c program from linux to android when lauch it in the shell everything is ok, but when I lauch it from UI with Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...), there is permission issue for the file change notification, also I know there is mechanism of permission on android, but I can not find related type of permission in Manifest.permission list.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThese are our only phones and they stay on the night stand while we sleep. With the BB there were sound profiles you could easily select and the most useful one was "calls only". You select that and all of your notifications go silent except for incoming calls which would ring. This was perfect for switching on right before bed.
This is more of an issue for my wife because she's usually on call 24/7 so it's important to wake up or hear incoming calls overnight so vibrate mode isn't going to cut it. But at the same time, she has various notifications for email and messages and all of that so it's incredibly tedious to have to manually tweak all of those each night before bed and then turn them back on. So, at the very least is there an app or a way to easily switch the phone into a phone call notification only mode? A full blown sound profile app would be great too, but just being able to easily turn all notifications silent but the ringer with a few taps on the screen would be huge.
