View 3 RepliesDoes anybody know how to turn off the popup USB connected notification on froyo?It can be kind of annoying and seems like somebody should be able to do this.I am running CM6RC3 and can't seem to find an option for it there, but then again there are so many options that it could easily be hiding.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried everything I can think of. disabling anti-virus and firewall. following HTC's troubleshooting, but nothing seems to work. I have the latest version of HTC sync, and my hero is recognised on USB. i've enabled USB debugging, and managing files on the SD card is not a problem, but HTC Sync just won't recognise that my hero is connected!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have done a search and found problems of people cannot mount and are not connected. However, my prob is different. This is my second PC to attempt with same problem. I dl HTC Sync and connect with USB cable that came with phone. I get the USB icon on the top of Hero but HTC Sync says disconnected. When I bring down the USB icon and press Mount I get a "Removable Disk (E" popup. The options at this point are: Copy pictures to folders, Use slide show of images, Print the Pictures, Copy Disc, Play, Play Video Files, Open Folder to View Files, Take No Action. This tells me that the PC is reading my phone, however, HTC still says disconnected. Do I select one of these options in order to be connected on Sync? My goal is to update the firmware.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided I much prefer HTC Mail's interface. For now, I'm going to stick with it. I was just wondering if turning off Gmail auto-sync will affect my use of HTC Mail (which as of now seems to get my emails right away).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm loving my phone but I noticed that my email and calendar were not syncing automatically. After watching it closely for a few days I find that every morning the master switch in my account and sync screen keeps shutting off.
Galaxy S3
The H symbol is displayed at the top of the screen and the arrows occasionally flash. The 'up arrow' flashes more often than the 'down arrow'. I have at least 2-4 bars reception.
However when I try to browse there is a 'data connectivity problem' and websites will not load. None of my apps, gmail, facebook etc will sync.
I am on t-mobile.
Fixes I have tried:
- turn on/off
- APN settings check
- Airplane mode
Have spent hours looking at other 3g threads, but have not found an identical problem. My phone says im connected to 3g ('H'), but will not update email or let me access websites on the browser.
I see another thread on Locale, but it seems to be focused on it technical shortcomings. I thought a thread about how people are using this app would be helpful.
Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
I am developing on 2.1 and location updates will not resume after removing them and adding them again.Is this an issue with the system?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDownloaded FoxFi, and love it. Great when I need to use my laptop. But...
Lately, I've noticed it has been having connection issues. I start the hotspot, my laptop "sees" it. And I can connect (shows "connected" in the wifi window next to "FoxFi" on laptop). But, at the top of the same wifi window, it also shows (under "Currently connected to:"), "No internet access" (or something - connected right now on different wifi network, so I can't get the exact wording). But I hope this is clear.
Why this weird contradiction? One part of the window says I'm connected, the other says I'm not.
So after rooting my phone. Couple days later i had it charging and decided to turn off my phone and before I knew it. It automatically turn itself back on? Y is that? I am using bb 0.4 p3 kernel 1.0 on blue energy theme.

I try it and this is working on my Samsung Galaxy S II. But... any gadget or a small program (maybe on Market) whit which this can be done? (with simple one touch of a single icon on the screen)
I posted this earlier but it disappeared? When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm implementing my own sync adapter and everything works great. A strange i'm having is that after the sync is over, the Android still shows the sync icon (the one with the rounded arrow) in the account activity, and that someone (i guess its the account manager) repeatedly calls the sync again and again, every 30 to 60 seconds. Now i tried all sort of things to test this issue and i have discovered something strange. In my code, i do resolver.applyBatch every 50 new rows. (each new contact i sync has about 5 rows). If i remove the applyBatch (which means i retrieve the data from the next, sort it and prepare it, but never "commit" it) - the problem goes away. The icon disappear and the account manager never calls it again on its own (I'm using Android 2.1). I must also state that no exception is being thrown in any of the cases and that all the methods finish gracefully.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't want my user to even try downloading something unless they have WiFi connected. However I can only seem to be able to tell if WiFi is enabled, but they could still have a 3G connection.
android.net.wifi.WifiManager m = (WifiManager) getSystemService(WIFI_SERVICE);
android.net.wifi.SupplicantState s = m.getConnectionInfo().getSupplicantState();
NetworkInfo.DetailedState state = WifiInfo.getDetailedStateOf(s);
if( state != NetworkInfo.DetailedState.CONNECTED ){
return false;
}
However the state is not what I would expect, even though WiFi is connected I am getting OBTAINING_IPADDR as the state.
Anybody nows a code/sample how to turn ON/OFF the GPS location provider *corretcly*. I have found the System.Settings provider and can set / change the corresponding setting, but it seems that the rest of the system does not recgnize the change. Is there a method to be called to notify the system about the settings update?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm upset, folks. After months of trying, I STILL cannot find a single instant messaging app for my HTC Eris (2.1) that will STAY CONNECTED.I primarily want to connect to MSN (Windows Live, whatever they call it now) as well as Yahoo and AIM, though if I could only get MSN to work I'd be satisfied. However all the apps I've tried (ALL OF THEM!) behave the same way. Each one will connect, and either not show me as online to the rest of the world (verified my by gf), show my friends as not being signed in (when they actually are), and randomly disconnect me and NEVER RECONNECT ME unless I manually bring up the app on the screen. It's as if the apps have no connection to the IM's servers, or reality itself.I have tried MSN Talk, Meebo, Ebuddy, Nimbuzz. Each one of these claims to automatically reconnect if there's a problem, but NONE of them ACTUALLY DO. No matter what, I drop off, I'm shown as "signed out" to the outside world, and the apps will only reconnect (or pretend to reconnect) when I manually bring the app to the screen.I would expect that any IM might disconnect if I went out of signal range and came back, however this happens even when the signal is strong and uninterrupted. And it NEVER reconnects if I leave the phone alone. ONLY if I manually bring the IM app up does it even go through the motions of a reconnect.I can try messaging people even when it looks like it's connected to the server(s), but over half the time, the messages don't make it, because it's not REALLY connected at all.Again, this is using ALL IM apps I've tried so far.I refuse to believe that Android has ZERO working IM apps available, so... is there one that actually works properly? Is there some setting or tweak that will "keep-alive" the connection? Is there a problem with my Eris? Or... are there really no working IM apps for Android?

I'm writing a program that processes SensorEvents.It needs to keep running and keep processing events even when the user isn't directly working with their phone (i.e. when it's just sitting in their pocket).To make that work,I need to prevent the phone from turning off.On the other hand,I don't want to waste power unnecessarily, so I don't want to prevent the screen from turning off.Looking at the documentation, it seems that a WakeLock of type PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK should do exactly what I want. But it doesn't work: as soon as the screen turns off, my program stops running (or at least onSensorChanged() stops getting called).If I instead use a lock of type SCREEN_DIM_WAKE_LOCK, everything works as expected and my program keeps running.But then the screen stays on (although dimmed), which is far from ideal.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't think this has happened every time, but I've noticed that when I use navigation the phone continues to think its in the dock and will open up car home days after I've used it. It will randomly open up the car home screen, most recently it did this after ending a call, and the speakerphone will turn on whenever there's a call because I have the car dock speakerphone app. A battery pull seems to work some of the time but not all of the time, and really, I don't want to have to pull the battery every time I used navigation.Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts?
