HTC Desire :: Connected To 3g - H - But Will Not Sync Email Or Allow Internet Browser - Data Connectivity Problem

Oct 8, 2010

The H symbol is displayed at the top of the screen and the arrows occasionally flash. The 'up arrow' flashes more often than the 'down arrow'. I have at least 2-4 bars reception.

However when I try to browse there is a 'data connectivity problem' and websites will not load. None of my apps, gmail, facebook etc will sync.

I am on t-mobile.

Fixes I have tried:

- turn on/off
- APN settings check
- Airplane mode

Have spent hours looking at other 3g threads, but have not found an identical problem. My phone says im connected to 3g ('H'), but will not update email or let me access websites on the browser.

Android :: Way To Get Virtual Device's Browser Connected Internet?

Oct 15, 2010

When running a virtual device, how do I get it connected to the internet? When I check the settings of the Android SDK and AVD Manager, it knows about my proxy, but when I actually run a virtual device, the browser won't even bring up the Google home page. Instead, I get the dialog box: Data Connectivity Problem 'The server failed to communicate. Try again later.' and the browser displays 'Web page not available'.

Android :: Sending Data To Server When Device Connected To Internet

Feb 18, 2010

My app needs to send some data to a server when the device is connected. I have been reading about native Android Broadcast actions. I was willing to find a way to use one as gmail does when the device connects to the Internet. (The "loading" icon on the top while it syncs mails) Is it ACTION_SYNC what I am looking for? If not, how does gmail knows when the device connects to internet?

HTC Desire :: Data Connectivity Errors Since Upgrade To 2.2

Nov 20, 2010

I have recently upgraded my HTC Desire on O2 to Android 2.2. Since then, I've intermittently been having issues going on the internet on my phone. Much of the time it's fine, but then it'll have a couple of hours of refusing any kind of data connection - it won't browse or sync Twitter/Facebook etc.I've tried rebooting, and disabling/reenabling Mobile Internet, to no avail. Does anyone have any thoughts?

HTC Desire :: Connected To WiFi Network But No Data?

May 28, 2010

I've had my desire for around a month now & had no real problems with it, flashed it with a stock ROM initially & then rooted it a couple of days after the root was released. When I woke up this morning I was connected to my WiFi network but when I tried to load a webpage, nothing happens, it comes up with the stock 'Web page not available' page. I tried a couple of web pages but got the same response, I thought it might be my WiFi network but when I got to work, exactly the same thing happens. I can connect via GPRS when I disable the WiFi with no problem. I've been using Y5 Battery Saver for the past two weeks, not sure if that's relevant. Is this a standard error / known bug, how would I go about fixing this, not having WiFi is obviously a bit of pain!

OK, installed a Terminal emulator over 3G & ran a couple of commands, including dmesg. From the output of dmesg it looks like the WiFi connects but then something goes wrong, here's a brief transcript:
pfn: set ssid = ******
Link event
Link UP
Enter set packet filter
start to add pkt filter 101
wds: 0021 @ 01
qmi: wds: network stopped
rmnet_stop()
wds: 0022 @ ff
qmi: wds: DISCONNECTED
If this is any use, I'm happy to try other commands.

HTC Desire :: Data Connection - Only Access Web/market Etc When Connected Through Wifi

Oct 29, 2010

My HTC Desire (UK) has been find ever I had it, no issues whatsoever. Recently updated the Android software and ever since then I can only access the web/market etc when connected through wifi.

My signal bar simply shows bars whereas in the past it had either a G, 3G or H next to it, and I'm guessing this is linked into the problem.

HTC Desire :: Unable To Browse Internet On Any Browser

I am currently unable to browse the internet on any browser on my phone, other apps that access the internet work fine. I've removed a few apps that I updated this morning, such as juice defender, the rest were just games from what I can see. Is there a way to see when apps were last updated, obviously last resort is a full wipe but don't really want to do that if I can get away with it.

HTC Incredible :: No Network Internet Connectivity

Apr 29, 2010

So I dropped AT&T for the Incredible and my number successfully ported over, but I cannot connect to the Internet.I can make/receive calls and SMS, but no Internet besides wifi.I've been on with vzw support and went through reactivating the phone (*228) and a couple hard reset to no avail. They said it could have something to do with porting from AT&T, but I'm not understanding that connection.I don't have too much faith in support figuring out so I'm trying this forum. Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this or is it a defect with the phone. Some details: there is no 3G symbol near the signal status bars.Settings/Wireless & networks: shows "Mobile Network" with a green check, buts its grayed out so no action can be taken on it.Directly underneath "Mobile Network" it says "Turning on..." and it seems to flash that status every once in a while.

Android :: Internet Connectivity Check

May 2, 2010

I'm new to Android development and working on an Android application that requires the phone to be connected to the internet, through either Wifi, EDGE or 3G.

This is the code that I'm using to check whether an internet connection is available

CODE:................

I've also set these permissions in the manifest file.

CODE:.................

This works fine in the emulator running version 1.5 of Android when 3G is enabled, but it crashes when I disable the 3G connection. My application throws a null pointer exception when I call isConnectedOrConnecting(). The same thing also happens on my HTC Desire running Android 2.1.

HTC EVO 4G :: WiFi Not Working - No Internet Connectivity

Jul 1, 2010

my WiFi on my Evo has been acting up, so I went and restarted modem and router, turned off WiFi on Evo, battery pull Evo, then as a last resort, I updated my router's firmware (since its been over a year since update =/) so I figured maybe that would solve something. Nope, can't even update Twitter, Facebook, get on internet. I did update on 6/28 and everything went smooth and my WiFi was working then. I have done nothing since and then all of a sudden, last night and today WiFi wont work.

I guess to explain this better, I can connect to my router, Evo shows that I'm connected with Good/Excellent connection and 55 mbps, but its like no internet connectivity, Facebook, Twitter, Internet, nothing. Like I've said up until last night everything was working until now. Did the update on 6/28 just slowly kill my WiFi?

HTC Hero :: Managed To Get 3G Data Working For Weather Email However Browser Does Not Work

Dec 2, 2009

I just bought a Telus HTC Hero, which the seller had unlocked. I intend to use this phone with another carrier, Bell. After spending a few hours at Bell customer service, they finally managed to get the 3G data working (for weather, email etc.). However, the browser does not work, neither does the Market.

What seems to be causing the problem is that this phone is MASSIVELY tweaked (appears massive to me probably because I'm not that big on tweaking and don't know about the Android OS in general) by the previous owner who only had it for a few days. The Bell customer service person told me that they switched over a couple of other HTC devices from Telus that were NOT tweaked and the data works perfectly.

All I want is for the phone to be in original factory settings, with original ROMs, firmwares, software, etc. etc. Just looking at the whole bunch of different files that this guy had on the 2GB "gold" memory card made my head spin. He attempted to explain to me with all the "updates" and fancy "roms" and "roots" and crap that I didn't understand nor do I want to spend the time to learn.

I understand that a lot of people buy android phones because they love tweaking but I am not really into all that... I just wanted the phone for the form factor and the functionality and I don't want to worry about optimizing and whatnot. So my question is: is there any way to get the phone back to the most original possible software condition? I just want it "clean." Can I go ahead and wipe everything that is on the 2 GB card? What do I do? I performed a hard reset and it took me to some weird startup screen and I chose the first option which is like reboot now (there were also a bunch of other options including apply update.zip or something)... it still gave me the same MoDaCo build.

I can provide any information but I would really appreciate any help in restoring my seemingly very tweaked phone to original, factory settings, so it could be like any other phone being sold by Telus other than the fact that it is unlocked.

Samsung Epic 4G :: No Internet Connectivity / Network Settings

Nov 14, 2010

My Epic 4G just lost all connection to the internet about an hour ago. Out of the blue, so to speak. I was browsing, set it down, then when I used it again it wouldn't connect. My browser, facebook, and any other connection required apps throw error messages saying - "connection error", "no connection". I've reset the phone several times, and as far as for the network settings, everything looks set the way it always is. I have done nothing to the network settings/options to have accidentally messed it up myself. I am connected via 3G, and this network problem is new to me. This phone has been nothing but constant problems and this is the newest one in a long list.

Android :: Phone With Good Internet Connectivity And Applications

Sep 25, 2010

I am looking at which HTC phone to buy. I need WiFi to connect to the Internet at home. I also want PUSH email, my understand of PUSH email is that every half n hour or something I can get the software to go out and search for new emails whilst not having to go into the app and click refresh to see new emails, something which I have to do on my N95. I also need a decent SatNAV, now I know that google navigation is out. I don't know how good it is due to the lack of information out on the Internet. Do all HTC phones drain the battery with GPS? Okay so I need SatNAV, then I also need a phone with decent car cradles, I need something that enables me to rotation it portrait and landscape easily.

Do HTC phones come with a car charger in the box? I also use Gmail a lot, now is there any advantages that I will get from getting a HTC phone and utilizing my Gmail account, as well as calendar. Is there a simple way of getting the phone to sync with outlook such as the tasks and notes you make? Are most applications on Android free? Do the phones last a long time? I like the idea of the kickstand in the Droid incredible I think, that phone is very appealing for me. I am just thinking of getting the phone not for phone and text use but for just Internet and applications.

HTC Desire :: Losing Data / Internet Connection

Jul 1, 2010

Unbranded, fully updated (2.1-update1), Desire. Three months old. No task killers installed. Just this past couple of days I've noticed it has not been showing the data connection symbol in the top bar, next to the signal strength bars. Try and connect to the internet or the market and get a 'failed' pop up window asking to either retry of cancel. Retry never works.

I go into settings > Wireless & Networks and disable Mobile Network, then enable it again and it flickers on then goes off again. Repeat this and it stays on for a while but always goes off again after about 20 minutes even though the Mobile Network is ticked green. Why is this happening? I'm missing emails because of this and it's a bit of a pain.
