View 2 RepliesI connected my phone via USB to my RR sport to upload audio files to the RR hard drive. However, I keep getting connection error. Apparently my device is not being recognized as a storage. I did the unmount thinking. Also, I am wondering how I can play audio from my phone through the RR audio system.
RR is 2010.
I am still getting to know the ins/outs of my newly rooted phone. I am using an app called PowerManagerPro and it gives the following instructions to install to the system/app directory to activate certain rooted functions.

I am not able to get this done using the Terminal Emulator, it keeps saying "cp not found". I also cannot find a function in Root Explorer to install the APK in the the system/app. Is there another way to install APK's into the system/app folder?
Google Music stores it's my downloaded MP3 music on the internal phone memory on my Nexus4. I don't want to use any other player, I really like how Google Music gives me the best of both worlds, with regards to having my best stuff locally, and all music in the cloud.
However sometimes I want to copy a particular Mp3 from my phone to my computer. All the files are randomly numbered xxx.mp3, so I can't see which file is what track in MP3 explorer.
Any app that can browse a system directory (on a rooted phone), and show all the Mp3 metadata and allow copying of that file?
Well actually I wanted to replace/ place a text file in system directory (e.g. /system/etc/) of android phone remotely which means I don't have any physical contact to that phone.
By remotely I mean via downloading or through app. or any other mean ?
- Is it possible?
- Is it necessary to have that phone rooted?
I want to put some of my custom ringtones on my droid to use for my sms, calendar, and email alerts. What format is required by the Motorola Droid? Also, do I just hook my droid up to my pc and copy them to the system ringtone directory?
View 6 Replies View RelatedNot sure of the absolute utility of this but seems as though it should be possible and useful. Can you extend ContentProvider to provide URIs representing new queries (i.e., joins across multiple tables not specified by existing URIs) for an existing system database? The alternative seems to be that I need to write a series of cursor queries then join them -- seems like a lot of unnecessary code duplication.
I have been trying this for the contacts database as an exercise, but no love so far. The crux seems to be that I cannot open a database in another package during the setup phase. Am I just completely out in left field here? It's possible as I am new to both Java and Android.
I have tried to update my Honor C3 system updates. Then I noticed that I have completely lost root access. They removed su binary. Then I tried to root again my Honor C3 with VROOT and it is OK again. But I can't overwrite system files such as changing system DroidSans-fallback.ttf fonts and also installing framework of Xposed (Overwriting app_process). I can't even delete system files also.
I searched for firmware files for my phone and I can't seems to find it. There is root access and I even test it via Terminal Emulator app and from ADB. Calling su binary in Shell was OK but I can't access /system well. H30-U10
So i realized today on my way home from work that my cars Clarion CD deck has a USB connector for hooking up thumb drives to play music off of them. I figured this HAS to work with the G1 and it does!I was able to hook the G1 charge and play the music off the SD card through the G1 with ease.Just set the G1 to act as a usb drive, and you can play music and charge your phone via USB while driving. So keep that in mind if you're going to be getting a new car CD player, get one with USB (pretty common on new CD players) and you'll be glad you did.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI developed a cramfs rom for the np7 after user dochoppy found root for the nextbook premium 7 tablet, but he then converted to ext3 which because its packed with features will be more popular. So I am trying to edit his ext3 rom in Ubuntu 11.10 and here is what I do:
1. Copy and paste system.img to desktop
2. Create a folder called system on desktop
3. In command prompt:
cd ~/Desktop
Sudo mount -t ext3 -o loop system.img system
(Asks for pw)
4. Doc said something about only being able to edit as root, so after some Googling I find out how to create a program that grants root.
5. (Open "run as" program) then I type "nautilus /home"
(Asks for pw)
6. Navigate to mounted system and I have read/write privileges (but only in this window)
7. View the system mount properties, and it says I have 14.2 mb free space on device
8. Delete files throughout the system folder to make room (but when I refresh properties, free space increase doesn't show)
9. Try to add my own files after deleting some others, ans rather than using the increased space, it just fills the fourteen megs before telling me "device is out of memory "
why is the system not physically making the proper system increase and decreases.
Im trying to record audio directly from the system. Using the standard API, you can only record from the MIC or phonecalls, ala: MediaRecorder. Some ways I've tried is to read from /dev/audio and /dev/eac from my app, but I think the sandbox of the app is preventing this.Im thinking about using the NDK, but Im not sure if that would overcome the sandbox aspect ? Ideally, there is some solution outthere to access the audio sub- system directly. Whether it be directly to alsa, to the AudioFlinger, to /dev/eac

How do I get music on the SD card?
If necessary, how do I remove write-protection?
If I remove write protection will this affect my phone or my files in any way?
I'm having a problem with ES file explorer. After several days I managed to root my HUawei U8800 Ideos X5 (Android 2.3.5) and obviously one of the next steps is installing CWMR. Unfortunately I'm failing here too. I tried to copy the recovery.img to the .cust_backup/image, but it keeps to say copy failed. Root access was given and I checked all four boxes in root settings. Someone in a german forum told me to update the binarys in SU, which failed too (it says sth like copy su to /system -> failed!). I'm not even sure ES FE would work if the binarys would be current.
I already tried the app Mount /system (rw / ro). It didn't work with this too.
I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.
Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:
D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so
What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
Mainly for the people who do not have an input option for an audio source in their car...
What do you guys use to integrate the Evo to your audio system in your car? I've used an FM transmitter before.
I am looking to connect my EVO to my car's audio system so that I can listen to Pandora and my own mp3s through my car's speakers.
The audio system is a JVC KD-G200 -- below, I've included pictures of the Line Out area behind the unit:

If you could please tell me how I can connect these two.
I've to develop a software which can copy all audio and Video files from Android device to System
What to cover first, either linux kernel or android system interface.
Do I need to learn linux kernel programming or android system interface only
This backup could be possible from one of the medium via USB cable or WiFi or other form of connectivity.
we all know there are problems with stuttering and skipping in Pandora. Here's some proof of what's going on when it happens. I hooked up my phone and grabbed the system log as I started Pandora and easily got it to stutter and skip. I added notes as to what what happening at each step.Perhaps this log will raise some awareness of the problem and if we're lucky all this will make it back to Sprint and Samsung and get fixed soon.

Multicsc : can not access to / system/csc/VOD/system/
Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
Can we modify the system while the phone is booted now that we have the unrevoked recovery flash tool? is this what NAND unlock means?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android and has been trying to find out if Android 1.5 on HTC magic is able to put system to sleep while collecting audio data through microphone.
What I am trying to accomplish is to continously collecting audio (PCM 16bit at 8K Hz) from microphone as long as possible. I have tested with AudioRecord class and is able to record audio continously for 7 hours before battery running out. 7 hours is good but not enough.
I noticed that during recording, although screen is turned off automatically, the system is never put into sleep mode. I wish sleep mode will allow recording go much longer. I found out by comparing SystemClock.uptimeMillis() and System.currentTimeMillis() before and after recording.
However as I reviewed David Sparks presentation at Google I/O (Google I/O - Mastering the Android Media Framework). David suggested at the end of the presentation that system should be automatically go to sleep mode while AudioRecord is collecting data into the preconfigured buffer(1 M bytes in my example). There are two problems I was facing while trying a simple recording 8k PCM 16bit using buffer of 1 Mbytes.
1. AudioRecord.setPositionNotificationPeriod() or AudioReocrd.setNotificationMarkerPosition() does not seem to work. I wish to periodically wake up to retrieve data by calling AudioRecord.read().
However, I do not get call back at all as I configured. Eventually AudioRecord stopped when record buffer overflowed. Below is the code.
2. With problem 1, I have to call AudioRecord.read() in a while loop from a separate thread. When I read(), the thread will block on the read() until read buffer is filled. During the block, I hope the system may go to sleep mode. My program works and audio data were successfully read but system never went to sleep during the block.
My idea of putting system into sleep while recording audio continously.
CODE:.........................
Basically I would really enjoy the ability to customize the sound for plugging my phone in, and a different one for unplugging. Even better if these could be "outside" the default notification sounds. I realize this sounds crazy, but my phone has a mario theme to it, and the plug in is "gain a mushroom" sound, and I would love it if it did the "loose a powerup" sound when I unplugged.
