How can I get and modify files on the system without activating the usb android debuging?
View 2 Replies View Related I upgraded my Galaxy 551 to Gingerbread 2.3.6. All went well. Unfortunately it seems to be a common side effect that the Z and Y keys (and some others) get swapped. The fix is apparently to modify the file /system/usr/keychars/sec_keypad.kcm.bin. The ideal thing is to put the old file from before the FW update back in, but of course I don't have that anymore! But the existing one can apparently be altered. If I can copy it to the SD card I can alter it in a hex editor and put it back.
So, I rooted my phone with that one click application, and that went OK too. I installed root explorer and found the file. There were also some others in the same folder I may be able to use. But, I cant make the folder R/W (pressing the button does nothing) so cant do anything with the file. I also tried Super Manager with no luck.
How can I get and modify files on the system without activating the usb android debugging?

Multicsc : can not access to / system/csc/VOD/system/
Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.
Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:
D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so
What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
I use Java API "System.setProperty()" to set a system property. After invoke "System.setProperty()", API "System.getProperty()" can return the value just I set. However, when I use command "adb shell getprop" to verify, it shows that this property is not set at all. Do I wrongly understand API "System.setProperty()" ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm engineer but more from a chip/assembler x86 level. I'm new to Android. Still figuring some general things out. I have written some apps, but have a general question. If I were to write an improved version of - let's say - TextView. Is it possible to make all app's on the system using this class, basically replace TextView? How are the java classes on the Android system, are they compiled, can I replace the library? Is this protected?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble installing footprints to be specific. I wanted to use it again and when I moved it from my SD card back to the system app folder it won't install. I'm probably not doing something right. But I don't know what it is. I've moved both the app and widget .apk and .odex files but they won't install. I rooted after 2.2 and they are the 1.10 versions.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I tap "Stop All" in System Panel it opens an application or program, sometimes it has opened GoogleEarth, Barcode scanner, mostly it opens the Phone page. How can I avoid this so it goes to home when I stop all? I've tried going to Home before stopping, that doesn't work, when it opened Google Earth I hadn't used that for days.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are three storage notes on System Panel: Memory, Internal Storage (6661.8 M available) , and SD Card (7681.2 M available). Memory says 71% used (and 117.6 M available) or 29% free. What does this mean? I don't even have anything open except for Lookout in the background (antivirus and backup disabled) and System Panel on. If it's ROM, how could I be using 71% doing practically nothing?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi tried installing a themed news and weather widget to system/app and it's not working properly. it's not showing up on the phone under widgets or in the app launcher. it's not showing up in root explorer in system/app even though it said it was pasted there. it shows up in applications in the settings menu but force closes when clicked on. i also can't install it in data now either. so right now the app is kind of in limbo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i know my incredible has 8gigs of internal space. When i first got my phone and i plugged it in it would ask me "do you want to connect as usb drive" i would hit yes.. and it would load two hard drives one my computer
HD1. was my SD card
HD2 ... was my internal 8gb
Now, same thing happens, but
HD1. i can load no problem (SD CARD)
HD2, click on and it says "must format"
What gives? my phone can still see all my pictures/music from the internal memory though.
BTW i am running CyanogenMod
I managed to get my incredible rooted earlier today using the SD card trick. Now I am trying to install Arabic fonts + reshaper as seen here.
The problem I am having is that I can't figure out a way to replace the font. When I open up a console and try to adb remount it claims I don't have permission. When I manually mount, with this, it claims that there is insufficient space when I try and push the font. Root explorer won't allow me to paste into the system/fonts directory either.
I know that NAND protection still exists on the Incredible, but is there a way to easily get around this right now?
Do you need an antivirus with Android? Will it slow down my system?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible is rooted. For the past few days I've received a notification that a system update will be installed and the phone will reboot. Nothing happens, no reboot and no evident change. Now that the phone is rooted do I need to apply updates manually? Should I take the Verizon updates at all? (The only specific change mentioned in (more info" for this update is the addition of an app called "Slacker").
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I customize all of my alerts for SMS, email, calls, etc., to sounds (no vibrate), and put the phone in vibrate mode, does it replace all of these sounds with vibration? So that there is no sound coming out of the phone? Same with if I put the phone on silent? I would hope you don't have to go in and change the notification settings for each application to vibrate if you want vibrate, right?I've read some stuff that suggested that this could happen, and it doesn't make sense, but I wanted to make sure.

View 8 Replies View Relatedalright, just installed 2.2, but my incredible has rebooted 5 times already after the initial install. it's currently rebooting, showing the lock screen, then when i pull it down i get the white htc screen with the pop up and some sort of % (i imagine some sort of setup process) it's already told me the first time "congratulations, you've been updated to build x.x.x.xxx" it also tells me "sorry! process System is not responding" now that just sounds like crap. it just rebooted the 6th time... note that i installed 2.2 manually.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI anyone else noticing issues with System Panel on the leaked Froyo Rom? I assume 2.2 handles memory in a different way, and System Panel doesn't read it correctly. It shows all of my apps running without anything being cached. Also, the CPU clock seems to be running at 700MHz or more constantly instead of coming down to ~300 or so like it showed on 2.1. However the CPU graph on the top left does come down like normal.
View 7 Replies View RelatedNew to Android, not new to smartphones. My BB Storm didn't have WiFi though which is the root of my question.
How do I know which system DINC is using to access internet at any given time? For example, if I am at home connected via WiFi is my DINC using WiFi or 3G to connect to the internet? Also, when my DINC synchs up my accts (Facebook, Weatherbug, Native Weather App, Gmail and Mail) is it using 3G or WiFI? Can I set a preferred connection somewhere? I've looked, but can't seem to find something like that.
I've come over from a Window's based phone and love the Incredible, but am having a problem with pictures that I can't find an answer to in the manual.
I simply want to save all the pictures I take with the phone to the SD card so I can transfer the entire file later to dedicated photography software to be cataloged and tweaked.
I can't find how to set up the system so that every photo goes directly to the SD card by default.
