Has anyone found a way to change the G1s system sounds? For example I want my G1 to have a different "Audible selection" noise. Instead of the click noise I would like to use an MP3.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just noticed a couple days ago that some of my sounds aren't working on my Droid X. Ringtones, alarms, notifications work. Audible touch tones, audible selection, keyboard typing and some other sounds in games are not working. Also, when rebooting the "droid" sound isn't playing (not sure if that was taken out with froyo.) About a week ago these sounds were all working so I know it wasn't the update that killed them. And yes I've looked and made sure that all the checks were selected for these sounds.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my Note 3 to KitKat and all seems to be ok except I have lost the system sounds.
I go to settings> Device> Sound> Volume and the system sound volume is set to mute or at the left hand end of the volume bar with no way to increase it.
I'm dialing in my Droid 2, which is replacing my previous Blackberry Tour. I am importing all my audio files for ringtones, notifications, and alarms.
I have done the following:
Connected my phone to my computer
Mounted my SD card
Created a Media folder on the card
Created an Audio sub-folder within Media
Created Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, and MP3s folders within Audio
My custom ringtones show up when I'm selecting them in Settings, and RingDroid also shows all of my files (currently placed in Ringtones and Notifications). However, if I go to my GMail app and settings, when I go to select a custom notification ringtone, only the ones that shipped with the Droid 2 show up. I also checked Settings, and no custom notification sounds come up.
I turned on my Dinc this morning with no issues. I heard the phone say 'Droid' as it was booting up. I have never had an issue with sound. Now my phone will not ring and there is no media sound. I went into the menu and everything is on. I have not done anything to cause this issue. I reset the phone 2 times and still no sound.

However, I cannot set the notification sound to one of these ringtones as they don't show up in the list of available sounds. Does anyone know how to add rings or sounds to the list of notification sounds?

Problem:
If I boot up the media player and select a tune, it plays but I cannot hear it
If I fire up a youtube video, it plays but again I cannot hear it
The only thing that works believe it or not is turning the thing off and on again. However a while or if I exit the youtube app or whatever it then looses sound again.
Is there a way to turn off the notification sounds at a certain time of day? I hate the sound of getting e-mail at 2 in the AM and waking me up. I have a Telus Milestone which runs v2.0.1
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Moto stereo BT headset, and find that I am having an almost impossible time of pairing it. It works to make calls, but I can never get the media sound to come through, even though it says it is connected, I think it has maybe worked twice, with constant turning off and on of both BT on the N1 and the headset.
I noticed I had a lot of problems with my G1 sometimes, but nothing this extreme, the most it would take with the G1 is 1 or 2 tries. The first time I tried it with the N1 it worked perfect, and figured it had finally been fixed, but ever since it is more of a nightmare than ever.
Is there a way to set the notification sounds to be different for emails versus texts, ect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some pretty simple Soundboard applications on the Android Market that work flawless on an LG Ally, the Motorola Droid, and the Nexus One, but I recently received an e-mail from a user with the Motorola DroidX claiming that most of the sounds do not work. I've exchanged a few e-mails with him. He claims the Soundboard is the only application running, and he's double checked to make sure that the Media Volume wasn't set to minimum. I really don't have access to one either to play around with. The application isn't doing anything cosmic to play the sounds. Below is a code snippet. Any insights into what might be causing the hang up are greatly appreciated.

I synchronize access to a pool of instances, so I can play up to four pops at once. Once a sound completes, I call seekTo(0) and return the MediaPlayer instance to my pool.
Here is a rough sketch of the code:

I can't get my Droid to play anything but the stock sounds for notifications. If I try a custom sound I get this crappy digital phone ring sound. I have made all my folders on the root of the card. I have tried rings extended but it still does the same thing. It shows the sound I want. It plays it in the selection screen but when it comes time for the phone to play it all I get is that stupid bell. I even used sounds that I know work as ringtones by copying them to the notifications folder, but still that ring is all I get.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSO i pushed the volume rocker down all the way to silent on the sprint hero for my weekly office meeting, thinking that the phone was completely muted, and then I opened up gang wars on the phone and it started BLARING rap music on full volume through the speakers!!! WHAT IS WITH THIS??? Would the stupid phone know to mute everything? Or did I do somethign wrong and not doing this properly? My old treo had a volume kill switch on the top of the phone and NO sounds would work. Is there any way to quickly MUTE all sounds without having to also go to settings sounds media and scrolling it down to zero?? also, even when i set the media volume down, a lot of times an app causes it to be set to high again. View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got an HTC Hero (actually a (UK)T-Mobile G2) which I think is fantastic. The only problem I have is to do with the Calendar Event Alert sound. T-Mobile supply it with this noise that is awful - it sounds like someone scraping their fingernails down a blackboard. It's horrid!
I've tried changing it by going into the Calendar then doing Menu -> Settinggs -> Reminders -> Reminder sounds and then selecting a different sounds but it's no use. I even tried removing and re-adding the Exchange account but I can't get it to stop playing that awful noise!
I know in a Sense ROM you can replace the system/media/audio/ui/Volume-1 through Volume-7 sound files and was wondering if I can do something like this with a AOSP ROM like CM7. Is this possible at all? Even if I had to look into building my own CM7 from source I'd like to give it a try.

Here is one sound file (the DROID noise) which is in both formats for bootup and shutdown:

Here are some shutdown animations (originally created as bootup animation's from xda user GLa'DOS):

PLEASE NOTE: You must be rooted. You must reboot in order for these changes to take effect. You should have Root Explorer (although I am sure there is a way with ADB commands as well though). You may want to create a backup (CWM or the like), just in case. Also, most of the people I have seen do this are running a version of Dirrk's/jt's kernel, which allow boot/shutdown animations to be changed. The kernel you are currently using when attempting to change the animations must allow for them to be changed for this to work.
The file needed to change your boot-up animation should be a .zip file.
I successfully changed my bootup animation by doing the following:
Boot-up animation:
1) download a new boot animation .zip file (I put mine in /sdcard/downloads)
2) open Root Explorer
3) navigate to where you put the new .zip
4) copy the new .zip
5) paste it into /data/local
6) rename it "bootanimation.zip." (if it isn't already)
Also, if you want to change the startup/shutdown sounds:
Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"
Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"
