Android :: Rectangular Box Around Link In Browser / Exact Code For This In Droid-webkit
Jan 28, 2010I could display the box around the URL link, but if my URL link spans over more than one line, then my code shows the one rectangle on 1 line. But, in android-browser, in the same case, whole URL (still if it spans over multiple lines) gets surrounded by single large rectangle. I am not getting how this is achieved in android ?
Can anyone please give me some pointer on this ? I could not able to find out exact code for this in android-webkit code.

Jul 21, 2010Is it possible to update WebKit behind the Android 1.5/1.6/etc (prior to 2.2) browser? I know latest nightly WebKit builds has great HTML5 support. So, my intention is to provide html5 video streaming (and other features) support on all those droids. Previously I was able to update WebKit engine on different devices with older Safari to meet my requirements (on any mac os x distros it's easy as updating WebKit.framework).

But it turns out that the pooling refresh will stop at some time after run for a while (some minutes or hours, different by each time).I thought there may be something error occurred in my refresh data functions, but it works well in my laptop browser. I also tried to listen window.onerror event, but webkit browser seems do not support that event. What else can I do?And I am also doubting is there any problem with setTimeout and setInterval functions in mobile webkit browser?

Oct 3, 2010I have the default home page for the app, and let's say for example I start to type facebook. Under where I type it comes up with the usual predictions, like facebook login, facebook news, etc. But the top one is usually a link to the exact URL (in this case to facebook) but whenever I click one of those links, I get a page that says:
"Server Error
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."
Is there anyway to get these links to work? Or get rid of them all together so I don't accidentally click them.

I have been doing quite a few iphone specific websites and I always use: <meta name = "viewport" content = "width = device-width; minimum- scale=1.0; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=no;" /> Now I tried a site that is using that declaration in the android emulator with a 854 x 480 resolution. Even with the declaration above its scaling graphics and text. I would assume that I have 854 x 480 at my disposal. Can somebody explain how I can disable any resizing? Never had any of those issues in the 1.x Android OS devices and iPhone OS.

While I can call the getDataURL () Method on an iPhone's HTML5 Canvas Element, it does not seem to return the data URL on Android 2.1 (Google Nexus One) and it's webkit-based default browser. Here is the sample: var dataURL = canvas.toDataURL(); var img = document.createElement('img'); img.setAttribute('src', dataURL); document.getElementById ('box'). appendChild(img); This will work on iPhone, it will add a new image element with the same content as the canvas. It does nothing or fails on Android 2.1.Has anyone ever gotten this to work? I am also wondering if anyone could help me with understanding the WebKit Build numbers and what it means with regards to what features I can expect. For the iphone, I see a build number of 528.18, on Android 2.1's Browser I see (from the user agent strign) a WebKit build 530.17.So it looks Android 2.1's webkit browser is more up to date, still some features work on iPhone's webkit but not on Android. Does this comparison just make no sense?
