Android :: Manually Update Browser With Latest Webkit?

Is it possible to update WebKit behind the Android 1.5/1.6/etc (prior to 2.2) browser? I know latest nightly WebKit builds has great HTML5 support. So, my intention is to provide html5 video streaming (and other features) support on all those droids. Previously I was able to update WebKit engine on different devices with older Safari to meet my requirements (on any mac os x distros it's easy as updating WebKit.framework).

I have built a website for mobile webkit browsers, there is an interval update to refresh data. But it turns out that the pooling refresh will stop at some time after run for a while (some minutes or hours, different by each time).I thought there may be something error occurred in my refresh data functions, but it works well in my laptop browser. I also tried to listen window.onerror event, but webkit browser seems do not support that event. What else can I do?And I am also doubting is there any problem with setTimeout and setInterval functions in mobile webkit browser?

I could display the box around the URL link, but if my URL link spans over more than one line, then my code shows the one rectangle on 1 line. But, in android-browser, in the same case, whole URL (still if it spans over multiple lines) gets surrounded by single large rectangle. I am not getting how this is achieved in android ?
Can anyone please give me some pointer on this ? I could not able to find out exact code for this in android-webkit code.

Just wondering if the latest update for Set CPU broke anyone's phone and required a n android backup to be performed? I got the update last night and the phone started running really hot. This morning, no matter what kernel I installed it wouldn't go any higher than 528mhz. But the temp was at 90-110F just sitting there. I un installed...did battery pull...rebooted and re-installed with the same results. Only way to get the phone over clocked again was to revert to the backup I did before doing the upgrade. Not sure if I had something weird happening, or if others have seen a problem with the latest update.

I have an Evo with the latest updated Qik for Evo on my phone; however, it just doesn't seem to work as advertised. I am currently running it on WiFi to get a faster connection, but when I try to stream live, the shortest delay I can get is about 30 seconds. Worse than that, when I try to watch the feed, it just constantly tries to buffer and it is almost impossible to watch. I've tried it about once a week for the past month, but the same thing keeps happening.

So AppBrain sync tells me there's an update for Google Maps available. When I go into the market there are a lot of comments about the update breaking the app, but no real details. Anyone have experience with the latest update? I'm putting off updating till I know more.

I just got an update 2 days ago. Now when I go to phone list and touch the contact, it only shows phone and message. The info or edit information icon is gone. I can't figure out how to get to that information to edit the information or view it. Does anyone have any idea?

I am trying to update an AppWidget manually when a user setting changes on the device.I can tell that my AppWidget onUpdate method is being called as a result since I log some debug strings to logcat in the code. However the AppWidget itself doesn't change on the screen.Here comes the interesting part: if I rotate my device and force a refresh of the home screen (from PORTRAIT to LANDSCAPE or vice-versa) then finally my AppWidget gets updated. However rotating the device does not trigger the onUpdate method to be called, so the AppWidget must be using the RemoteViews provided in the earlier update. Can somebody explain me what to do to force the home screen redraw of my AppWidget when it processes an update?

My custom AppWidgetProvider has onUpdate method where i have logic to update RemoteViews
It is not periodically updated by system, but rather, i'd like to trigger onUpdate if something happens (in one of my app Activities). both custom AppWidgetProvider and Activities i'd like to trigger update from run with the same UID
I tried some AppWidgetManager's methods, but no luck, finally i ended with really weird solution: i'm sending broadcast with action ACTION_APPWIDGET_UPDATE and extras EXTRA_APPWIDGET_IDS which i got from AppWidgetManager
Is it a common way of updating AppWidgetProvider?

However... a few weeks ago I was having issues with the Market (downloads were freezing in the "installing" stage) so I "Uninstalled updates" in the Market application under "manage applications". When this happened, it reverted my market back to how it was pre the newer market update.
My question: does anyone know how I can manually update to the new market again? The phone did it automatically before, so now I don't know how to get the "new" market.

I just bought myself a brand-spanking new Samsung Vibrant from T-mobile the other day. I was then informed that the JI6 update was being pushed out via OTA. Only problem is, my plan was to use this thing via wifi only (I bought a 1 month voice-only Flex Plan to activate it). According to T-mobile, if I want any updates, my only choice is to switch over to a monthly data plan (big old $70 a month bill). So I turn to the experts on these forums... is there a way to install these updates manually over wifi? Or is it time to take the phone back?

Is it just me or does the double tap zoom on the browser work better since the FPS update? Before, mine didn't zoom in very close when I double tapped and the text would still be too small. Now when I double tap it's about the perfect size. Anyone else notice this?

I did the ran the EVO update this morning and tried Pandora immediately after and the sound quality is much better on the "normal" setting.Seems to be back to pre-froyo update before it got @#$@ up.Is anyone else seeing this after running the update.

Okay so I rooted a few months ago, and installed a baked FroYo ROM from MoDaCo. However I want to update it to a later version. My question is this:
Since I've already rooted, and can use Hboot, can I simply copy the new zipped ROM to my SD Card, and install it through Hboot, or do I have to do through the whole rooting path again?

So I got IRC and basically, I just want to know how I can get the latest firmware update where the GPS issue gets fixed. I haven't ever used IRC but I read that the update download is available at re drum_chaos. is there anyway someone can walk me through how to get to that update? you don't have to be rooted for this right?!? feel free to PM me or whatever I Really need/want to get this GPS fix.

I saw the forum thread here: Cant root, is it the latest ota software update? I can't seem to use any apps that require root access after android update earlier this week. I have an HTC Incredible, 2.2, rooted with un revoked. I can't seem to re-root it either. Not sure if this is to do with the update or not.

I'm new to Android having just bought an HTC Desire HD. Great piece of kit but I'm having a lot of problems with connectivity of various apps, especially email and market. Last night, my phone offered an OS update, which I accepted. Since then, my MS Exchange push email has stopped working. I can still sync manually from the email folder, but emails are not being pushed to the phone. Nothing's changed on the exchange side.
Questions:
Anyone else seen this behvaiour?
If so, is there a fix / work-around?
Is there a way to see an OS updates install history?
Is there a way to roll-back an update?
