Added a home video via websharing to my eris. It will not play. I renamed to a mp4 and it goes to the video player but then states it is unable to play. Anymore extensions I can use or does anyone have an idea to make it play?

My app has two private file formats with distinctive extensions. How to I register their MIME types and associate them with file extensions? My understanding that then my app can be launched to handle a file. How is this done and how to extract the file path my app is launched to handle?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to send a video using gmail, I couldn't do it, it said file to big or something like that. It was only like 20 seconds long. I really like this phone but it seems to be really limited when it comes to MMS or sending video's whether its email or MMS. My sister has verizon (and I do to) when she sends me text or MMS and adds a smiley face it modifies the msg and she gets a msg back saying my phone dont support enhanced msg. wtf? My razr really did better when it came to mms. There has to be something not adjusted right on this phone.

My problem is like in 1.5 and 1.6 devices, we can add a key to a contact with the Contacts.People.Extensions class. But now there is a problem with this content provider.. It's unknown by new devices. And it's the only provider who does not work. Does someone know why is it not working anymore ? And is there a new way to put some extensions for contacts ( with the ContactContract class maybe?

i searched and im pretty sure there isnt already a thread.but what is the best (free) video player from the market? and just to be sure i am putting them on the eris right but they go in the albums part with the pictures right?and does the eris have the ability to play m4v files? they are from itunes recently purchased and that is the file type and i put it on my phone but it is not working. i thought itunes did away with the DRM on newly purchased items

Now i tried to play a video file .3gp from the internet youtube link via my android device ! not emulator. And it worked! But when i tried to play a video file .3gp or .mp4( i converted the mp4 from 3gp ) its not working. Im getting error "Cannot play video Sorry, this video cannot be played"
Tried to play with the link to my device wich is: I:DCIM100MEDIAVIDEO0030.3gp or .mp4 or tried this: I:/DCIM/100MEDIA/VIDEO0030.3gp with "" like: "I:/DCIM/100MEDIA/VIDEO0030.3gp ";
I tried to remove the I: but it didn't change anything.This is the main code im using to play the video files on my device. And there some lines i marked with // wich i used to play from the internet and im not using now.

I emailed myself a video from my phone. Downloaded it to my laptop. its a 3gp extension file. What do I play it with? I suppose that if I manually take it off the SD card, it will be the same extension. How do I deal with these files? VLC, QuickTime did not play it. Windows Movie Maker did not open it either. On a Mac it worked fine and flawlessly.
