Has anybody tried to access Java class from Android Webkit plugin?
I am trying to do but there is no reliable way to access with JNI. So if anybody has tried please reply.
here is example of what I want - JS in webage access plugin and plugin accesses JAVA class/application to access Android platform.

Is there a way to extend Webkit on Android? Can we write plug in for webkit in android? Can we do things like creating our own renderer for a particular type of data embaded in the webpage? Can we track user session or modify data stored in the browser cache/memory?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to make android java app that uses webkit browser component but in slight different way. My primary goal is to modify the webkit WebViewCore java class method so my android application uses my own WebView which derived from modified WebViewCore and acts as I wish. The problel is that WebViewCore and entire bunch of related classes is not part of public SDK.
So far I tried:
- replaced android.jar from SDK in my project with "full" version (framework.jar)
- copied entire webkit java classes from Android OS to my project and modified the method as I need.
- included in lib/armeabi the libwebcore.so and libchrome_net.so (these I grabbed from rooted phone which I gonna to use for experiments)
- compiled and created apk file with libs included (in the code java layer calls my own libs using System.loadLibrary(..))
- application crashes on launch on device with:

I have been doing quite a few iphone specific websites and I always use: <meta name = "viewport" content = "width = device-width; minimum- scale=1.0; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=no;" /> Now I tried a site that is using that declaration in the android emulator with a 854 x 480 resolution. Even with the declaration above its scaling graphics and text. I would assume that I have 854 x 480 at my disposal. Can somebody explain how I can disable any resizing? Never had any of those issues in the 1.x Android OS devices and iPhone OS.

I do not wish to take screen shots of other apps, just my own. I have got HTC Desire yesterday . Phone is really amazing! However , I went to couple of websites like

I have checked in my browser settings , Java script is enabled. I have tried with both Dolphin and Opera browser.
I could display the box around the URL link, but if my URL link spans over more than one line, then my code shows the one rectangle on 1 line. But, in android-browser, in the same case, whole URL (still if it spans over multiple lines) gets surrounded by single large rectangle. I am not getting how this is achieved in android ?
Can anyone please give me some pointer on this ? I could not able to find out exact code for this in android-webkit code.

So i've been trying to flash modules from within the phone without having to boot into the recovery, and i found that i can just extract the update-binary and execute it through shell and it will do the trick!!
However, know im trying to do that through my app, I successfully got root access using Chainfire's libsuperuser, however, whenever i send the commands to run update-binary i get "segmentation fault(core dumped)" Error.
the command i using in both shell and from within the app is "./update-binary 3 stdout ./modules.zip".
This might be irrelevent but when ever i add a number before stdout (e.g 7stdout) i get segmentation fault during shell as well, other than that, i can't find the problem.

Android platform and actually mostly interested in the browser. I created http://www.jqtouch.com/ in hopes of developing a web-based cross-device application framework — but I'm running into a lot of issues with Android. Does anyone know of any good resources which describe the features/implementation of WebKit on Android? At first glance, it appears it doesn't support HTML5, nor certain -webkit CSS3 extensions like gradients or transitions. Does support certain other WebKit features like opacity, etc.
Most of my searches are coming up futile, because I end up seeing generic info about Android having WebKit, or technical pieces specific to embedding WebKit in native apps — but no good documentation on general WebKit features available. Again, I'm new to the platform, so I apologize if this information is in the clear...

I should note that Dolphin HD shows exactly the same text select functionality as the default browser (same icons, animation, etc), so it really should be possible. But I can't figure out how.Until now, all i found was this function, which kind of work, but doesn't allow the user to expand/shrink the selection.I just discovered that long touch copy/paste is part of HTC Sense, not Stock android. Still, it'd be useful to find out how to enable that on a webview, even just for HTC users. Anybody knows ?
