I often type things like "Tae Kown Do" or "Right on!". Machine helpfully changed these to "Tar Kwon Do" and "Right in!". Anybody know how I can get the dang thing to assume that I am right and it is wrong when it comes to word choices on IMs and stuff?

How can I type a word that is not in my dictionary, use it, but not add it to my dictionary. Very cumbersome to do currently, and one of the reasons I sometimes don't use stock keyboard.

When I go to the gallery and select a photo and hit the share button, I get a bunch of choices that I never use and probably never will. I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to get to the twitdroid. Does anyone know how to remove the "share" selections like peep, or picasa, or facebook. If you know a setting that I seem to be missing, please share.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding a feature that just seemed to disappear from Handcent SMS.
Before, when I composed a message in the app or using quick compose (long press search button), there would be a drop down list of possible choices when I began typing in the "To:" field. For example, if I typed "k", it would show names beginning with "k". But now the feature is gone and it really sucks when I want to compose a text.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is it Handcent's problem or a software problem (v2.1 bug?), and does anyone know how to fix it?
I will hopefully be getting my Evo in a few days (supposed to have arrived today, but it's been backlogged )When I do, I'm downloading the Keypro and syncing it with a Freedom Pro folding bluetooth keyboard. I just got word that the Evo, the app, and the keyboard work together flawlessly! So, what word processing app should I chose to use with my Evo? I'm planning on blogging, writing emails, short stories, and yes... even working on a novel or two. I'm hoping to replace my laptop for any writing I do out of the house with my beautifully Evo. Ideally, I'd like to be able to save files on my phone and later transfer them to my computer and also upload them to google docs (depending on what I am writing/doing). I'd like a built in dictionary/spell check and thesaurus. Programmable shortcut keys would also be a wishlist feature. So what do you guys all recommend? Oh, and I'm not concerned about the cost. I'm willing to pay for a quality product.

I consider myself a fairly careful and exploratory user of most things, and Android is no exception - I'd like to think of knowing most its functions, and when people make posts in this forum, I do tend to already know them. But no - my mind was just blown with something so simply that I'm sure i'm behind the curve here. It always annoyed me how difficult it was to add a word to the dictionary for prediciton? Or, not difficult, but time consuming, going into the settings, text and locale, diction, add. The other day I had a moment of brilliance when I realised that long-holding the text box after typing in a word brought up the option (right at the bottom of the list) to add it to the dictionary. This was faster, but still a bit annoying because it took a second to load the dictionary, then you had to click "Add" again. I just realised, however, that if you long-hold a word itself in the text entry box, it just adds it. It comes up saying "saved" and bam, it's done.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to open .docx file within android app programmatically ? if i try to open a .docx file in my app, it should not open using any external apps like kingsoft office, QuickOffice etc., i have already make use of some library files like aspose.words for android, OliveDocLibrary, Apache POI.
1. Aspose.word library is too heavy and heap space exception occurs when i tried to run the app.
2. using OliveDocLibrary, it displays something like watermark on the document file. that seems to be uncomfortable for viewing the document file.
3. Apache POI library is been used, i have placed all the required libraries in my project's libs folder but still POIFSFileSystem exception occuring.
So, are there any other libraries for doing this job ?
I couldn't find a way to type some special chars such as #, $ and = with the QWERTY keyboard.

I also installed UrduFonts.exe and copied its font JameelNooriNastaleeq.ttf but it also gave the same error. i need the Urdu font that is compatible to the android , the font that can add and retrieve Urdu to and from the database using android. this is how i coded foa a Lcd2Mono.ttf. here is my piece of code

Is it not possible to Undo Typing in Android? I cannot tell you how many times I used the auto spell checker to correct a word and it wiped-out an entire sentence instead of the word I was typing and I wanted to through my phone on the floor in frustration! At the very least, there SHOULD be an undo feature ... somewhere!!

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs.
If the user touches the word "lazy", can I somehow obtain information that he has touched that particular word? Perhaps there is something in the WebView or WebViewClient classes that maps sections in the html data to x, y coordinates?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought Documents to Go, and so far love the actual program. One issue though, which I think may have more to do with the Android OS, is setting Documents to Go as the default fro opening Word/Excel/PDF/PPT files. When I try to open a Word Document (using ASTRO, DroidBox, or anything else) it asks me what app to use. The list has "Documents to Go" and "QuickOffice". If I pick "Word to Go", and tell it to use that as the default, it works. However if I then try to open a different file type (say an Excel file) it attempts to open it with Word to Go and obviously gives an error about it being the wrong/unsupported file. If I remove Word to Go as the default handler, I can then go back to the Excel file, attempt to open it, and select Sheets to Go, it works. So, first, how do I remove QuickOffice as an option (it shows up under Manage Apps, but there is no option to remove it)? Second, how do I set Word to Go as the default for .doc/.docx file types, Sheets to Go the default for .xls/.xlsx?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am a noob at java. so i decided to start at the android dev guide and go through their tutorials. naturally i started with this one: http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/hello-world.html. i followed the instructions, ran the program when the guide said to, and it all seemed to work without any errors, except that the program didn't display the text i had written in the setText() part. it infact displayed the words "Hello world, HelloAndroid!". the only thing that bugs me about that is my setText looks like "tv.setText("Hello, Android");". the word world doesn't even come up anywhere in the project. so what's going on here?

My problem is that whenever I go to type 'Yo' in a text, it automatically corrects it to 'To'. I'm guessing that I corrected this myself a while ago and now it has it saved. I already tried adding 'Yo' to my user dictionary but the problem persists. Is there really no way to change the default correction of a word?
