View 6 RepliesI heard that you can un root your desire(rooted) and it can get the updates,is this true?
If so i thought this: Root my desire->get all the apps to sdcard and not on memory-> unroot->profit!
Is this correct, mods?
Make sure that before you run Unrevoked, you remove all the other zip files from the root of your SD card at least that worked for me - Unrevoked would not get past the "Hboot" message and phone would reboot in an unrooted state. Once I cleaned them out and re-ran Unrevoked the root proceded normally.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to make android 4.0.4 devices rooted by superuser?
I open my superuser:
downloading manifest okay
parsing manifest okay
latest version 3.1.1
checked install version 3.1.1
fixing database okay
unpacking sutools okay
check current install path= /system/xbin/su
Downloading new binary okay
gaining root access fail
I have my device rooted by means of UnlockRoot, at first I think the version of superuser is low. So I download Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip , exact it and replace the old version superuser and su .
I click the root on the software and it seems that everything work. But the fact is that I can't find superuser in my android devices and manually install superuser by myself. And then the phenomenon above appears. It seems that I have rooted the devices and I can't get root access. It is more dangerous than I don't root the devices.
Let me just start with that im new to rooting. So i have lost my root permission on my LG G2 but device is still rooted. I think it might be because i uninstalled superuser app. How to get root permission back?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWith a free sunday at my disposal, i thought i would try and sort my hero out as it has become super-laggy after the OTA 2.1 update (HTC hero locked to 3UK network, previously had 1.5).
So i've been trying to read as much as i can on this and other forums and got as far as installing Universal Androot, which reported success in rooting the phone.
However have now installed (and bought PRO ver) of Titanium Backup which refuses to recognize the root. It returns:
ERROR: Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.
Yet, TB is listed as 'allowed' under SuperUser Permissions. And even weirder when the error dialogue box comes up sometimes a strapline flashes briefly across the screen 'Titanium backup has been granted .. permissions'. I take it that this is Superuser informing me.
So why doesn't Titanium recognize the root? Have tried re-starting and rerunning Androot (which reports that phone is already rooted, do you still wish to proceed). It's almost as if superuser isn't giving the OK fast enough or something.
Obviously don't want to start messing around with ROMs if i can't first backup my data!
So i had my Droid Bionic (Verizon) rooted a few months back. A few weeks ago, there was an update for android firmware. I went from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 without realizing I had to un-root my phone before.
The night I updated, my battery just so happened to run out in the middle of the night (the update was done in the morning, so the update process was obviously unaffected). I woke up to AP Flashboot Flash boot error. This was temporarily fixed with me just loading the fastboot menu and selecting Normal Powerup.
But now i would like to re-root my phone, and i was wondering if it is safe to just straight-up root it with my comp. And if im not specific enough, just let me know what information i have to include.
i recently bought a cheap irulu tablet off ebay. it's running 4.2.2, and i'm not quite sure if it's rooted or not. i've read that most of their tablets are rooted right out of the box, so i downloaded 4 or 5 root checkers from the marketplace and some said it was rooted and some said it was not. i know that it does have su and busybox installed, but i don't have one of those superuser apps that request permission or anything. i can browse my full phone with any file explorer. i installed titanium backup, and it says on the main screen that root access is ok, but then it will pop up an error message that says:
BusyBox works but the "su" command does not elevate to root. There's something wrong with your "su" binary and/or "Superuser" app.
I have a rooted mytouch 4g slide phone that seems to work fine but when I try to use certain apps that require root (for example "extended power menu") it doesn't work. here is a quick video : [URL]
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am sure it's been answered but I failed completely in finding what directions for my exact state and being a n00b when it comes to rooting, I've decided to ask first.
I am currently on rooted T-Mobile's ERE27. This morning I got OTA upgrade, however, when I tried to install it I got the "verification failed" message. After I restarted the phone, I looked at the SD card and found no Update.zip of any kind.
Several questions:
1) Should I wait for an OTA? Will an OTA update work on rooted Nexus?
2) If I have to do it manually, can someone please explain the steps I should take or link me to a guide that fits my state?
3) Will an upgrade, manual or OTA, wipe the phone?
has anyone rooted and used the hero without flashing a rom? even for a little while? my main question is: did or can anything go wrong with a rooted -only- phone? if i cant get the update anywhere ill finally root to delete the useless sprint apps but im happy with the OS as is so im not interested in the risks that may be involved with flashing. thank you for your patience as im new to android.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a VZW subscriber. I currently use a Storm 2 (HATE IT). I have been waiting... and waiting for the N1. I have a friend that works in the higher ups of VZW (not retail). I was just giving him shit the other day about the N1 situation. He said, "you should just get the Incredible it has slight better specs and the optical mouse.". I then told him my dislike for Sense UI. He said, "well then just root it".Would there be any difference between a rooted N1 and a rooted Incredible? Wouldn't they then have the exact same OS? (Provided I was going to flash it with Cyanogen). Thusly I would have the same phone with better specs, if I got the Inc over the N1. Is this flawed thinking? Since the N1 is Googles phone and gets updates first. When you root and flash with a diff ROM, do you then not get updates? I'm guessing you would be reliant on the updates to that ROM which ever MOD you choose.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently I have an Eris with v3 Leak meaning I can't root. But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.
3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.
To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.
Here is the scenario:
Motorola Droid - Original
1. Rooted 2.1, then
2. OTA Stock Update to 2.2, then
3. Seem to have lost root, However - I still have the Superuser Permissions Icon.
I use Barnacle for WiFi Tether - I get a "Permission Denied" error when I try to start the application. I also went into the terminal emulator and tried an "su" which also gave a permission denied response. I tried "sudo" and also got permission denied response. Others have told me this is common with this progression of events. However, How do I now ROOT 2.2 in this scenario?
I just rooted my stock froyo with it! If this has already been discussed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to gain root and having some problems...
I had my droid rooted for some time, running droid mod 1.0. All was well until recently the battery life turned to shit (followed all guides to resolve recent OTA update issues, but still shitty.) Because of this, I decided I would go back to stock, since I couldn't justify the rom's features if the battery would kick out after 16 hours. So I returned to stock no problem and received the OTA to upgrade to 2.1.
After getting the upgrade to 2.1, I wanted to at least have root access to run a few programs. I followed this guide:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/63010-how-install-sprecovery-unrooted-2-1-ota.html
to get SPRecovery back on my phone. Everything went well, it all checked out. After that I used SPRecovery to install the root update.zip. This worked fine, the root access app is in my tray and everything seems to be fine... HOWEVER when opening programs that require root access (setcpu and adfree are the ones I've tried) they say I don't have root access. I have tried reinstalling the update.zip file to no luck. USB debugging is ON. Is there a special update.zip to gain root on 2.1 (I saw no posts about that)? Is there some setting I missed this time around that I didn't the first time I rooted?
Running the last command it says file not found and i cant flash the image to get into amans rec...

G1's & MT3G Setup's are the same regard sh.I'm not sure is the apk is counted as warez or not, if so I hope a Mod will remove the link to the Apk or let me know to Remove it Okay, File's Need to complete the Task is.Try3 Placed in C:SDK ols> found here > try3 SU for /system/bin found here > su Superuser app control for our App's found Here > Superuser.apk Next, Mount the SDCARD and place the SU file in the root of the sdcard like so ( /sdcard ).
