Android :: What's Good Notes App?
Jun 27, 2010
I was looking at things like Easynote but have heard that some of these types of app are very battery hungry and are always on in the background. Can anyone recommend a good one that's not too heavy on the juice?

Was wondering anyone knew of a simple note app that allows formatting?? I have Docs to Go which is a full-service Word format viewer/editor which has tons of formatting options, however (if anyone has noticed) the UI is horribly tedious.I'm just looking for a simple note problem where I can bold some entries and leave others plain text. Suggestions regarding the use of "tags" or other methods of labeling isn't what I am looking for. Just want the ability to format some text within a note as bold and leave other text normal.I have tried the following apps, NONE of which, as far as I can tell, have the formatting options that I am looking for:

I am wondering if it is a bug, but when I try to edit "Notes" in a Contact, it is not saved even if I click "Menu > Done". However, if I create several notes (at least 2), only the last one is saved ... What it is the problem ?

I see that there are quite a few posts asking about whether there's an application that will sync your Outlook Notes to your handhelpd (Droid), but it doesn't appear to be any recent posts on it.
Does anyone know if any apps out there will do this? I've read how to export the Notes as a csv file, and impor them, but the syncing is what I'm really after.

I've searched through the forums and tried a lot of notes apps, but I am yet to find one to my requirements:
- Should have widget support (I need to put some notes on my homescreen, not the note creation widget like 3bananas)
- Bluetooth sharing (or it stores the notes as .txt files on the SD card). Alternatively, it could sync with google in some way. If you know one that does these, please tell me. Else please tell me what app you're using, so that I can try it if I haven't already.

I am getting a Hero next week and want to do my research ahead of time - I have lots of notes in my Outlook application and need to know how to get them into my new Hero next week. is there a good application already on the Hero that I can sync to or export them to? If not, does anyone have any recommendations for a notepad/memo app that doesn't need the internet, that I can sync to my laptop from my droid, and if possible, have the ability to enter private notes?

I'm looking for a way to collaborate on a "note" with a friend of mine on a Palm Pre. In our case, we want to maintain a collection of quotes together. It'd be nice if we could maintain updates in the same place and have them be in sync. Not necessarily looking for an "app," but a mobile site that would let us accomplish this would work as well. Does anyone have any ideas?

I downloaded and installed Wiki Notes but can't make head or tail of it. For clarity: The app I've got is named "Wiki Notes" (with a space in the middle there). I keep seeing people refer to something called "WikiNotes" (without a space) and I wonder if they're the same app or not. Wiki Notes (with a space, the one I've got) so far makes no sense. I can't create a new note. There's something called a Top Note. I can edit it. And that's as far as I can get. No new note button, no delete note button, nothing. I am completely stumped. I've read that there's something really cool going on here. But I am stumped.

Any ideas for apps to sync notes you take on your phone or PC with the other? I'm really missing the ability to sync the Outlook notes. Ever notes is not ideal because it requires a 'net connection. I would even be open to a USB sync.

Something where I can physically write things out with my finger and erase them? Maybe a widget that is something like a big sticky note that you can just write on? Does such a thing exist?

I am about to make the jump to Android. One of the hurdles I have to deal with is notes. I have been using windows mobile since 2004 which syncs Microsoft Notes. Is there an app that will sync with MS Notes....or.....is there an app that has a desktop app that will sync with Android?

Just like the title suggests, I'm looking for a Calendar with a widget that will show me the notes of the event without clicking on it (clicking to read ALL notes is fine, just looking for something to give me the first line or so).
I'm currently using Android Agenda Widget and LOVE IT, but even with all its settings, show notes doesn't appear to be one of them

I am looking for an application that will link with Outlook. I synch with my exchange server for mail, contact, and calendar. But I have gobs of outlook notes that I want to use on my Sprint Hero. MyLink Access (Advanced) is about the only one that I have found, but their developers have not released anything other than the free version. They told me the advanced would be released before Christmas. I know it is not Christmas yet, but I just don't see that in the future. I would settle for an application that I could manage on my desktop so that I could retype all the notes and then have the desktop synch with the phone ..

I have an HTC Incredible on Verison running Android 2.1. With the Blackberry (NOT Exchange), I was easily able to sync contacts, calendar, Tasks, and notes with my BB. I cannot seem to do this with the Incredible.
I actually found an HTC Sync program on my phone which I installed and was able to sync the calendar and contacts once, but I have been unable to do so again. I have not found any snyc for notes or tasks. This seems like such a standard need that I cannot understand why it is not a basic ability on this awesome phone.
Anyway, I need to be able to sync my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes AND I would like to be able to backup my phone to my PC.

I'm looking for a good program for notes/todo lists that's properly syncing with gmail calendar/todo list or at least gmail docs or something on the google's cloud. If it has a widget that would simply be great...need it to store the notes offline as well, not just online like evernote.

I wrote up a method to do sync with Lotus Notes using CompanionLink. Of all the products I've look at, they all offered Sync via Internet and no USB. Recently CompanionLink Announced a USB version coming soon. Sync with Lotus Notes - Android Sync Lotus Notes (CompanionLink Software) | Mobile Technology Deals and Help. This is what they recently announced.

I have recently updated about 10 apps manually that I already had on my G1, since I saw them relisted in the market (again) but higher up on the "by date" tab. This system is horrid. If a user has an app and a new release comes online it should not only notify the user it should offer to auto update and the first screen that pops up should be a release notes screen so we know why it was updated and what to look for.Another more minor annoyance is that devs seems to lose track of download counts and comments in new vers. This is much more minor, but useful to both the community and the device. If anyone from Android peeks in here, hopefully this makes a list of suggested improvements.
