View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to install Android 2.0 platform via Android SDK and AVD Manager. In "Available Packages" I chosen to install "SDK Platform Android 2.0, API 5, revision 1". The Manager started to download data. After download was fininshed I got message "SSL peer shut down incorrectly". In the header there was a message "Nothing was installed". Any idea what is wrong? As far as know my friend also failed to install Platform 2.0 and he had the same messages in the Manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYes, unfortunately I have friends with iPhones. With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am interested in integrating Scala (or some other non-Java JVM-language) into the android platform. I am not referring to writing an android application with Scala, that I did early early on, but actually hooking into the build process that builds the android platform source tree. I imagine this will be a matter of hooking into the makefiles and such. Does anyone have insight into this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to check whether there is any JAVA Coding standards in Android platform for performance improvements.
For Example, like an Effective Java code in J2EE environment is to defined the number of elements in the ArrayList constructor rather leaving it blank (new ArrayList(noOfRows)) etc. I definetly suspect these performance tuning tips should be available because of the memory and resource constraints.
Is it possible to have an application open that allows you to send and receive video calls from people using Skype on their PC's, laptops, macs etc?

ie Galaxy S (in some places), or iPhone 4 (although I'm sure this would go against their policies..)
So the other day I went to download an app out of the market. The download finished, but it seems my phone decided to auto-reboot itself in the midst of the installation. After the reboot completes, I go back to the market, reselect the app, and it's hung at "Installing..." (And when I say "hung," the market is still fully functional except that one app). I'm given no option to cancel the installation. Killing the market app then trying to go back in has no effect - same deal. Hung on install. Another reboot didn't help.
Is there any way to delete the install package and make the market forget I even tried in the first place?
It's Angry Birds (wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but the install seems to have failed in a way that any app install could have failed.
I am using Eclipse helios and android sdk r_06.But the phone where i am want to run my application has platform 1.6.how do make this application run on that phone with that platform because when i installed the application it gave me error "incompatible platform","package corrupted","package not found".how do i make it compatible?also in eclipse when i changed target name as "Android 1.5" it gave me error in res folder tellin "invalid resources directory"

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Android on Beagleboard (TI's OMAP35x chip). They have provided toolchain to build the OS and port it on the chip. Now the next question is developing Android apps. I am interested in knowing about the Java SDK for android. So can I use the standard SDK provided by google, so far I cannot find any SDK provided by TI for Java.Putting it in simple terms, will an application developed on standard Android SDK work on beagleboard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android and Java but working my way through the demos. On my computer the emulator is hopelessly slow so I want to get a used phone to develop on. I'm looking at a G1, but before I buy one from ebay I thought I'd ask here and see what others are using. This will be strictly a development platform, although I may put my AT&T SIM in it on occasion if I need to test telephony functions. If you use something other than your personal phone for developing android apps on, what is it and why did you choose it? Is anyone using a beagle board or other non Android hardware to develop Android apps? I didn't see much discussion of hardware platforms in the archives so my apologies in advance if this is't the right group.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a desktop/web java application and also getting into Android development.Ideally we would like one app that runs both on desktop and android. From what we can tell, it's not much possible to run normal java apps on android. But wondering if it can do it the other way? That is, run android apps easily on the desktop (without the user install the sdk or android emulator)? In a prefect world we'd like one app for both platforms. Realistically though it seems like we're going to have to have one app with two front ends?

Is it possible to only rebuild the modified library without downloading and building the whole platform? The platform is massive and this is too much a bother..
Downloading and building the small number of projects Skia depends on seems ok to me, but the build script requires everything!
I was finally able to build and debug the android platform (the process can be seen here). Now, the question is: where are the unit tests, how do I launch them and where do I see results? And also, is there any guide to android platform architecture?
