Android :: Can't Install Android Platform 2.2 On Windows Vista 64 Bit Computer
Nov 1, 2010
I'm new for android's developing. I'm using windows vista 64 bit computer. I try a couple of times run SDK manager.exe from android-sdk-windows package, but I can't install Android platform 2.2 and android platform 2.1 version. Does that mean android 2.2 not working with windows vista 64 bit? Did anyone have any experience for android installing on windows vista 64 bit?

Has anyone else had issues getting windows to recognize the drivers for their phone? I'm in the process of rooting my phone and I can't get fastboot to work with my phone. When I look under device manager on my laptop it says the drivers aren't recognized. I've tried windows vista 64 bit and windows xp 32 bit.

Until now, have been using Android SDKs Emulator with the Eclipse plug-in, but recently replaced my non-Android phone to T-Mobile's MyTouch 3G Slide. Today, tried to install the Windows Android USB Driver for the phone. Followed instructions in http://d.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html (USB Driver for Windows Android Developers).
When looking for the driver, Windows gave me a "Could Not Find Driver Software" message. When telling Windows where to search, I pointed it to the SDK directory where the driver resides (¦Android-SDK-windows/ usb_driver). Also tried ¦Android-SDK-windows. Specified use sub- folders" in both tries. I am using Vista 64 bit, and suspect that may be the cause.
The "could not find.." message box from Windows has this information under Details:
Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound Architecture: x64 Hardware Id: USBVID_0BB4&PID_0E03&REV_0100&MI_01 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033
In Windows Device Manager, "Other Devices ==>ADB==> Properties" shows Device type: Other Devices Manufacturer: Unknown Location: 0000.001d.0007.002.000.000.000.000.000 Device Status: This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element
In the sdk's "usb_driver" directory, the "android_winusb.inf" file has several VID's beginning with 0BB..., but does not have one for the one listed above. Nor is there a [ ... ]header entry for the MyTouch 3G Slide (Expresso?)
I suspect this is the reason for the "Driver not found"
Am using the 32 bit version of "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers" downloaded last April. (At that time there were a lot of forum warnings about not using the 64 bit version.)
Today, before trying to install the driver, I uninstalled the Android plug-in from Eclipse and then uninstalled the Android SDK I had installed in April which was at the 2.1 level. I reinstalled the SDK at the 2.2 level taking "all items". Then reinstalled the Eclipse plug- in.
In the "Android SDK and AVD Manager" checked for any updates. There were none (I'd just re-installed, so that makes sense)
Information in this thread looked like a solution:
[url]
When I tried that, got the same message box.
These two threads from 2009 have entries that say the 64 bit driver is in the SDK I cant find it. Could be looking the wrong place though.
[url]
[url]
The android_winusb.inf has these two .CAT entries in it CatalogFile.NTx86 = androidwinusb86.cat CatalogFile.NTamd64 = androidwinusba64.cat
Using the information from the above ¦5512 thread, I added these lines to the [Google.NTx86] group immediately following the ";Google NexusOne" information and before the [Google.NTamd64] entry
CODE:.................................
When that did not make any difference, added: %SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0FFF which was also part of a post. Made no difference
The .INF has a [ClassInstall32], entry, but there is no [ClassInstall64] entry. I do not know enough about INFs to know if that is needed or not.

When I connect my new Galaxy S to my computer using the usb connection, I can see both the internal and external SD card (I use a sandisk Ultra 16GB card). However I cannot open these disks. Windows refuses to open them. The right click on these disks in order to get their properties gives 0GB! So what is going wrong. Do the SD cards use a special format (linux ?) that windows can not see correctly.
I take chance of this message to give a short feedback of my first week with my galaxy S here in France. I got it from virginmobile operator. I have to say that this phone is amazing. What a screen ! My wife just purchased an iphone 4. By far I prefer the samsung's screen. Concerning the battery. One can go for one or two days without recharging. My feeling is that it is not shorter than the iphone's battery.

I tried to install Android 2.0 platform via Android SDK and AVD Manager. In "Available Packages" I chosen to install "SDK Platform Android 2.0, API 5, revision 1". The Manager started to download data. After download was fininshed I got message "SSL peer shut down incorrectly". In the header there was a message "Nothing was installed". Any idea what is wrong? As far as know my friend also failed to install Platform 2.0 and he had the same messages in the Manager.

I have an Evo 4G and I'm eventually trying to root it (the right way). I'm trying to install the SDK (for Windows XP) and I'm having an issue. I installed the Sun Java JRE, HTC Sync and I downloaded the SDK. I re-booted my PC, then enabled USB debugging on my Evo and plugged it in to a high speed USB port and then let Windows find the drivers. Now I did a test to make sure the SDK was installed correctly. I went to "android-sdk/tools", then opened a command prompt and entered "adb devices" to make sure that I can see the device's serial number...but I keep getting this...'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".
I keep getting this error message even after I prompt to the tools directory. I tried re-installing drivers, I tried deleting and re-installing all software and nothing seems to do the trick. I still keep getting "...is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

I have read the previous threads, but still having no luck getting my Samsung Epic to show in My Computer. So I decided to post a new thread. After connecting the phone to my PC, I select Mount and turn on USB storage on the phone then windows shows "Found New Hardware" then asks me to install the new hardware. When I install the hardware, new device shows under "Other Devices" in Device Manager with a yellow icon (?) in front of it as if it is still unrecognized device. I am not allowed to install the drivers on my PC since it is a company PC. My coworkers did not have to install drivers to get the EPIC show in My Computer.

so i tried to use the camera for stills and video this weekend. the video looks great, and works fine on my phone, but i have no sound on my computer thru windows media player. I'm sure its just a codec issue, but does anyone know which codec?
photos on the other hand were really bad grainy or blurry depending on which one fast motion was horrible (but i really wasn't expecting much there) way too long a delay between button push and photo capture the kids kept moving during the delay ruining the photos.
Has anyone gotten good results? what settings? i currently have everything to auto/default. sorry i cant load a pic to show u, they are all too big to post here

I've been struggling with ADB for the past week or so, and have been unable to see my HTC One X+ no matter what I've tried. Then I decided to install Ubuntu using Virtual Box and voila, It can see my device using the same computer with no problem. I ran an ADB restart just to make sure and it worked. This all started when I tried to run an RUU and it couldn't find my phone. RUU's don't run on Linux, just seems to point at Windows 7 being the issue.
I've had 5 Android devices, all 5 have successfully connected with ADB on this same computer in the past. I've installed custom ROMs on all of them and have used ADB quite a bit over the past few years. I'm not sure what changed in the past year since I last used ADB that now causes it to not see my device.

Install Android on your HTC Windows Mobile phones - Kongtechnology.com. Google, the land of milk and honey, have smashed open the smartphone market when they released their Android platform for free to developers and in one fell swoop, gave a huge stride forward for smartphones everywhere. Traditionally, the smartphone market relied on specific operating systems such as Nokias Symbian, Palms PalmOS and Apple with their iPhone OS. Each company fights to keep their software on their own phones and the result is that a person is locked into using only phones from a particular company if they are familiar with the software. As they say, you cant have your pie and eat it.

I have implemented a simple Android application that I now would like to test on a real device. I have a Nexus One. In the Android Eclipse plugin, I have downloaded and installed the USB driver (revision 3) package. But when I connect my Nexus One to my PC (running Windows 7) using the USB cable, a message box pops up and shows that "No driver found" for "Nexus One". I have activated USB Debugging on my device. And when I run adb devices on my PC, it just prints List of devices attached and no devices are listed. And if I use Device Manages in Windows, and tries to update the driver for "Nexus One", I can not select a driver in the "driver directory" of Android SDK. How can I install a driver for Nexus One on Windows 7 so I can use it for USB debugging my Android applications on a real device?

I use Windows 7, received my Vibrant a few weeks ago and have been having a great time, but my phone doesn't mount! It mounted the very first time but after making a potential mistake, it stopped. Here's what happened: Yesterday I installed several apps (Beautiful Widgets, WidgetLocker, just for reference), and for the first time since receiving my handheld, wanted to add some files to it via my pc. I connected my Android as usual only to find that while both the phone & sd card were recognized on my computer, both contained no records, which was obviously a glitch.
I then tried unmounting my phone, and screwed up by selecting for my phone to be a media device rather than mass storage. Windows began searching for the device drivers, was unable to find them, and gave the message: "device driver software was not successfully installed." And now, whether mounted or not, windows no longer recognizes my phone's storage. My Android however, has no problems going from mounted to unmounted. However, I have tried connecting my phone to two other computers and none recognize my device.
