I am using Eclipse helios and android sdk r_06.But the phone where i am want to run my application has platform 1.6.how do make this application run on that phone with that platform because when i installed the application it gave me error "incompatible platform","package corrupted","package not found".how do i make it compatible?also in eclipse when i changed target name as "Android 1.5" it gave me error in res folder tellin "invalid resources directory"

I have ported an application from Android to desktop that uses AES to encrypt some private data.Both applications are able to encrypt and decrypt the data for their own use but unable to decrypt the other applications data.The AES keys, IVs, and algorithms are identical. I have the famous problem with the shared user id. Whenever I try to install it, it says "Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID". I have tried putting it directly to /system/app, and I also have followed this guide [URL] ....., but with no result. It seems to rebuild this file in the reboot, so it's useless. I have a chinese phone without CWM recovery, so I can't flash anything, but I do have root. How to install Google play services in any way!

I don't know about you, but I feel a bit screwed by the fact that Android Marked wont even show me apps that haven't explicitly stated that they're 'OK' to run on the smaller screen.I want to use Google Voice, and a ton of other small apps I used to run on my G1. Where can I safely get them from? Is there some way to "override" Android Marketplace and just let me try apps?
Finally... I have an unlocked Tattoo, is there a way for me to force-upgrade my firmware to Android 2.0? I'm a developer so I can probably handle the technical magicks, but could you point me to a good source of info on this subject?

I have downloaded the official BitTorrent Beta app countless of times. But when I've installed MIUI it says device incompatible. Although I've downloaded countless of times. And I'm not comfortable using other clients because this is the best one. So, any apk for it?

I have tried to update the default youtube app on my nexus one (Froyo) numerous times. I get the message "Error Installing - Package file was not signed correctly". I am trying to upgrade from 1.6.21 to 2.0.26.I have tried unmounting my SD card, clearing the cache for the android market, the download manager and the original youtube app.

Looks like LP 7.9 breaks both these apps on my system. When I load, my shortcuts still work, but as soon as I go into Apps Organizer, it crashes and gives me the bug screen. Folder Organizer let me get into the setup once, then it crashed as well.

I think I may know why this is happening, but I don't feel like doing a full nandroid reinstall and losing my data before I ask. I'm getting "incompatible update" errors when trying to reinstall Facebook and Mixzing. Now, I had those apps installed and working on my previous ERE25 based ROM, however, I was at the time using the Dark 24K theme, which modified them. When I went to ESE53, I didn't nandroid, I just used update.zip, and that of course reinstalled the stock theme, which may be causing the problem. It's not showing those two apps in my installed apps list. When I check them in the market, they show "installed", but I am able to redownload and reinstall them, I just get the error during install.

When tried to build a AIR application for android using flex builder I did the following steps to do that .plz tell me where the error happened
1.Created Air application using flex builder that produced two type of files .swf and .xml files and cetification file
2.Created apk file from the above files using "Package assisstant pro"
3.then i installed AIR 2.5 run time in my emulator
4.after that i tried to install the apk file that Created from the 'package assisstant pro' then i tried to install the apk file by using command prompt then it show this error
"INSTATTION FAILED INVALLID APK" .And also i cann't install other apk file (Sample air for android application apk file that downloaded from the site) that shows the same error
I succeed to install other application's(Say for printing hello world) apk file

Basically, do you need to root your phone, to get apps to work? I've been reading around the net, and I've seen some things where it says that certain apps may require the phone to be rooted or what have you. Being an Android n00b, I have no idea what this means!. Also, is this the case for installing new themes? Does the phone have to be rooted for this?

I'm trying to free up some space on my SD card (before I upgrade to a 32GB) and I was wondering---for apk's downloaded outside of the market..once you install that apk, can u delete the apk package file off your SD? Or will this cause problems to the overall application itself?

I recently uploaded my application to the android market however it's refusing to run when downloaded due to the error
Package file was not signed correctly
I first published the packet using eclipse, right click export, creating a keystore then publishing, however it refuses to work.
I then downloaded the keytool and jarsigner and used them to sign an upgrade which I posted instead. However this gives the same error.
And since I cannot delete the application I cannot try and start again,

A customer wrote me that his upgrade of my app would not install and gave the following error: package isnot signed correctly The install worked find for me but I was getting a lot of bad reviews because of this error and I removed the app. How is this possible; you can't upload an app to Google Markets without it being signed correctly?

However, I do not know Objective-C and I think it would take an annoyingly long time to figure that and the Apple framework out. Is there a recommended way to port an Android application to iOS? My .apk file is confirmed working, however for users of the Motorola Milestone (which runs the same android version 2.0 and up) they receive the error upon attempt to install. I've googled and searched through the other questions here. The error seems to normally only appear if you did something wrong in the signing wizard or renamed the file. Is it possible that some kind of software difference on the OS build on these Milestones is preventing the install?

I have an Android app modeled after the LunarLander example by Google.
I am debugging it on a real device, (Motorola Droid) with Android 2.0.
When the orientation changes, the program crashes on a null pointer Exception.
Logcat from just before crash:

The first line that worries me is "Something wrong here" at 24:38.620. I have no idea what it means, But I think its due to me not reacting properly to the screen change.
Next I get a debug message that I printed myself from within my own method surfaceChanged() about the new surface dimensions.
Then I print out debug message about whether flies was null. flies is the field that eventually causes the NullPointerException. Its created once, and never written to again for the rest of the program. I know that it was not null before the crash, because it was read several times.
Does anyone have a clue how my private member variable came to be null just by these clues?
I would include code but there is a lot of it and I don't know what would be relevant.

Most of the time I write code for embedded modules or small programs on my computer to analyze data that said code generates.Now I've been asked to prototype a mobile application to analyze/display that data instead.I have no (6-year old CS101) experience with either of the popular languages (Obj-C/Java?), let alone with any of the APIs/libraries available on the 4-5 popular mobile OSs, so I'm more or less at square one.Adapting the embedded hardware to talk to a phone is fairly straightforward, just add a Bluetooth module that I can configure to emulate a serial port (using SPP profile), but I don't know where to start on the other side.What sort of mobile OS/device should I target for ease/speed of developing a Bluetooth serial port profile (SPP) application from having equal (no) experience on them all?

I'm a programmer looking to play in the mobile world. The application I'd like to play with would support my musical hobbies. I suspect a mobile phone with a music player could easily be programmed to support a classical musicians practice sessions. Access to media player APIs without the need to open external apps or do clunky things with files.Adequate access to playback API to create specific notes and beat patterns. As a hobby application, this should not require expensive tooling.I can switch to a new phone to use the application. Bonus points for something that easily ports to a netbook.I will admit I new to the world of sexy phones. I currently use an obsolete voice device with text messaging. I won't revealing my current flavor of programming because learning a new platform is just fine.
