Jun 24, 2010The command adb devices will list my emulators and also my Droid Eris (Android 2.2) but nothing shows for the Nexus One. I have searched extensively and failed to find.

I'm trying to install my app to test it on a real device - my own Nexus one. after downloading and installing the USB driver - the devices charges just fine. after I mount the USB storage (from the device) I can even see the phone's file system from the computer (thus able to move files in and out of the SD card). however - "adb devices" command returns an empty list. also, Eclipse "Device Chooser" doesn't show the device (it shows emulators I previously configured).

Well, I don't get any notifications. I went an extra mile ahead and pinged the IP address and found that I get "request timed out" error when device is locked and when it is unlocked, the packets are received properly.

Is there any special process? Can I just use the normal OTA update service built-in? Will doing that lose my root and unlock? If possible, I'd prefer the most risk-free method, as I don't want to mess up my Nexus.

May 7, 2014I want to install Cyanogenmod and root my Nexus 7 2013, but I don't know what I should do to backup.
I previously tried to root and install CM on my Motorola Atrix HD on AT&T and successfully rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, and installed Clockwork Mod. I made sure to click backup and proceeded to delete the version of Android on the device and install Cyanogenmod. Cyanogenmod did not successfully install and I wanted to restore my device back to it the backup I made. It said that it did it successfully, but the device gets stuck on the AT&T logo when booting up and doesn't go past that.
I don't want to have to go through the same trouble with my Nexus 7 not being able to restore back to a backup in case something goes wrong. I'm using the Nexus Root Toolkit on my PC and will probably use the Cyanogenmod installer for installing CM11 (if there are any drawbacks to using the installer). What should I use to backup my device and how would I restore it back to stock if something goes wrong? And if I have a bricked device, how can I flash it back to stock?

May 23, 2014I have a brand new windows 7 computer, I have installed the latest android SDK, I want to connect to my Nexus 10 using adb.
(device has windows drivers from SDK; "Android Composite ADB Interface". adb version 1.0.31)
when I do adb devices, it does see my device but it says my device is unauthorised.
It has never displayed the security popup.
I am convinced that the security pop up would make this work, but i cannot get it to show, so that it does whatever magic it does.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the usb cable,
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off.
I have changed the USB connection from Camera, to Media, back to Camera.
I can see the adbkey file under $HOME/.android in windows
The android directory /data/misc/adb/ is empty
I have root.
How can I force the security popup to display? Or how can I frig this so I can get it working?
What does the secuirty popup do anyway? probably just copy the adbkey file from windows into the android /misc/adb/ directory right? Can I do it by hand?
Slightly unrelated question, is it true that everything works first time, everytime on IOS?

I accidentally installed the wrong kernel and while panicking, I wiped the data and davlik cache. Now, I am stuck in boot loop. Also, when I plug it into the computer, the phone is UNAUTHORIZED according to adb server.
Is there any way to authorize my phone without booting into the OS itself?

Nexus :: Battery Light Blinking Orange To Green Quickly - Device Not Start
Jul 5, 2010I had to remove my sim card, which means that I had to remove my battery. After doing so, I put my sim card back in, followed by the battery, and after pushing the power button, the battery indicator started flashing green and orange.
The screen isn't turning on, and absolutely nothing is happening.
I've been pouring over google trying to find a solution, but haven't found any that worked.
One suggestion suggested that I hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, then plug it into power, then add battery. This did not work.
Another suggested the opposite- hold power for 10-15 seconds, add battery, then add power cord, still no luck.
I freaking love this phone. I really, really, really want to fix it. If there are any, ANY suggestions as to what I could do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call HTC for support, but, wouldn't you know it, couldn't get to a phone before EXACTLY one minute before they closed.

May 28, 2010Can someone explain a couple of very simple concepts to me - I'm interested in mobile devices running android and how they are identified over networks. Some scenarios: Device is connected over WiFi - presumably the device has a standard IP address as with any host and can communicate with any other android host over TCP/IP (assuming it knows the participating device's IP? device is connected over bluetooth - how are devices identified in this case? device is connected over mobile operator's network - this is the one I'm interested in and confused by - is there anyway for two or more devices to discover each other and communicate via the mobile operator's network? How does a device communicate with a backend server in this scenario? In other words, how do apps and devices communicate when not connected to a WiFi network?

I have created my database using sqliteman browser b/c I have to insert a bulk data before the app starts. I have four tables in my db and call each in different activities and created all on the sqliteman. after the data is inserted I pull back the db onto the data folder of the emulator. it works perfect on the emulator but failed on the device. when I try to pull my db on the real device, it shows access denied problem

Oct 30, 2009How do I map the device Y axis to the screen Y axis?I can't figure this out.I'm the developer of Tricorder, and I'm trying to make it so that the accelerometer and magnetometer indicators I draw always point in the right direction.On the G1 phone with the slider closed, all is well.But when I open the slider, I end up showing that gravity is pulling me to the left (if the phone is held with the display vertical).So, I know that the device, and hence sensor, Y axis is always in the direction of the earpiece; and the screen Y axis changes when I open the slider.And I know that I can use remapCoordinateSystem() to change the device axes to match the screen axes.But where do I find out what the device's orientation is?In other words, how do I compute the correct values for the X and Y parameters to remapCoordinateSystem()?
Configuration.orientation seems quite useless.Suppose it is set to LANDSCAPE.What does this mean?Does it mean a device which is "naturally" portrait (i.e. the sensor Y axis points to the narrow end), and which has been turned into landscape mode?If so, which way was it turned?Or does it mean a device which is naturally landscape?In other words, LANDSCAPE could mean that the screen axis is off from the sensor axis by +90, 0, OR -90 degrees.Not much help.So how do I do this?Obviously I want my app to work on all devices, not just the G1 phone.

I currently connect to it via a WM 6.5 app running on my Palm Treo 750. I would like to port my WM 6.5 app to an Android phone. (I don't have a specific Android phone in mind, I would like it to be as generic as possible).Replicating the GUI is not that difficult, but I am having trouble getting started on the USB communication. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me towards an example, or the appropriate tutorial.

Feb 13, 2010I'm using the android plugin for eclipse, and when I try to run my program using a real device through the android device chooser, my phone is not listed as a device. I have updated eclipse and all of the android packages, but it still isn't showing up. My phone is running 1.6, which is also the target version listed in the eclipse project.Also, the reason I decided to try testing on a real device is because the emulator doesn't seem to be working right anymore when I run my project. The emulator launches, but the program never does. Any ideas?(using windows 7/t-mobile mytouch 3g)

I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?
