Android :: Way To Check Voice Mails Without App?

Jul 27, 2010

If someone calls me and I am not near my phone to get it, how will I know I have a missed call? I didn't even know I had a voice mail until I downloaded some voice mail app to check it. Is there a way to check voice mails without the app? Do these missed calls and voice mails show up in notifications?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Google Voice Voice Mails Only Play Through Speaker Phone?

Jul 29, 2010

I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

Android :: Check New Google Mails Archived To Labels?

May 25, 2010

I am new to Android. I plan to check for new mails on Google Mail (GMail) that are archived to their labels. Are there any examples that'll show how to do this (Gmail API, etc.?)? I searched a lot but found no helpful information about this, hope someone can help. What do I need?

Is there a way to check (with push) whether there are new mails in a label. I think the standard Gmail Android app could not do this!?

HTC Hero :: Enabling GPS Satellites - To Check Or Not To Check

Nov 6, 2009

Menu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites

It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"

When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"

So, the question is, should this be enabled?

I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.

I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.

So, to check or not to check?

Android :: How To Get Number Of Unread Gmail Mails?

Jun 7, 2010

I've been trying to get the number of unread gmail mails with no luck.I've read Gmail.java and gmail4j both links taken out of this site from this question: Android - How can I find out how many unread email the user has?But still after having read all of that and a couple of other sites that talked about this particular subject my question remains:How can I get the Gmail Unread Count?Sorry if it seams a bit insistent but I clearly lack the knowledge to find this out on my own from the source.I would like to clarify that I want to do it without having to ask the user for credentials.Just 2 add some colors to the question let me show you the looks of my app.

Android :: Email Application - Not Automatically Retrieve E-mails From Server

Oct 24, 2008

My Gmail works perfectly (of course it does) but my Email program is another story. I can get it to sync fine with my Cox e-mail after I manually set it up, but I will not automatically retrieve e-mails from the server regardless of what I set the check interval to. I purposely sent myself a test email from another source and the phone never receives it unless I physically go into the email program and then it connects to the server and downloads the message. Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I doing something wrong? Right now I have the phone set to 5 min check intervals and it still doesn't automatically indicate I have new mail even though I know there is two brand new e-mails sitting there waiting for me.

Android : Incremental Status Bar Notification Icon Contains Number Of Unread Mails

You know what I'm talking about: for example when you get multiple new emails the notification icon in the status bar is augmented with a little red circle that contains number of unread mails. Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

HTC EVO 4G : E-mails Go To Wrong Inbox (sometimes)

Nov 17, 2010

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem... I have several e-mail addresses configured on my EVO and every once in a while, one of my e-mails will show up in the wrong inbox as an unread message. When I try clicking on the e-mail it tries to open it and immediately goes back to the inbox (still leaving the e-mail unread). When I long press on the e-mail and try to delete, I get an error and the mail app force closes itself. The only way I've been able to fix this is removing the e-mail account affected and re-add it. This is not ideal as it's a pain to have to do this all the time. Right now two of my inboxes have this problem. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any other workaround than what I have been doing?

HTC Desire :: Deleting Mails On POP Account

Aug 3, 2010

I have a POP mail account pretty standard with my ISP. My home PC is where I keep those mails so when I load up Outlook and download the mails, the mails are no longer on the server. On my previous WinMo device, whilst I was away from my home PC, it would download mails and keep them on my device UNTIL I got home, opened Outlook and downloaded mails, and then, on my device the next sync would clear those mails from the device. Nice and neat. Since moving to Android recently, a niggling thing for me has been that no matter what I do from my home PC, mails never seem to disappear from my device until the number of retention days is met. I've looked at the settings over and over and can't see anything to lead me to replicating how it worked on my WinMo device. I have no need to keep emails on my device once they're downloaded at home, am I missing something or is this just the way it is? I know iPhone does it this way also and it really annoyed me for the very short time I had one.

HTC Magic :: How To Delete Multiple E-mails?

Jul 11, 2009

I have created a shadow account my provider e-mail account using the e-mail application on my mobile (HTC magic).I will use this account only while I am on the road. I have configured the account on my mobile to not delete the e-mails on the mailbox of my provider because this is done when I download the e-mails later on my notebook with Outlook.I get about 200-300 emails daily. Therefore when I have scanned my emails on my mobile and saved them later on my notebook I want to delete the emails in my mobile. I have the impression I can do this only one-by one and the trash can also not be emptied. Is there a way to delete all e-mails in my inbox at once and to empty the trash?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Mark All Mails As Read

Mar 18, 2010

I know this is posted all over android forums, but I just wanted to see if there is a solution yet. I get 30-40 emails a day in my gmail account (the only account I use). I typically check them on a PC, but if I am out of the office, I will check them on my Sprint HTC Hero. If I have read the email on my PC, there is no reason for me to open it on my phone except to update the notifications as to how many emails I have left.It would be nice to keep my notifications up-to-date as to how many unread emails i have. So when my phone shows that I have, say, 30 new emails, is there a way to go into the basic mail application, select all emails, and mark them as read? Or do I have to do it one by one. Or is there an app on the market that has better functionality for email and I can ditch the standard one.
