Jun 7, 2010I've been trying to get the number of unread gmail mails with no luck.I've read Gmail.java and gmail4j both links taken out of this site from this question: Android - How can I find out how many unread email the user has?But still after having read all of that and a couple of other sites that talked about this particular subject my question remains:How can I get the Gmail Unread Count?Sorry if it seams a bit insistent but I clearly lack the knowledge to find this out on my own from the source.I would like to clarify that I want to do it without having to ask the user for credentials.Just 2 add some colors to the question let me show you the looks of my app.

Dec 18, 2009You know what I'm talking about: for example when you get multiple new emails the notification icon in the status bar is augmented with a little red circle that contains number of unread mails. Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

Aug 12, 2010I would like to be able to generate unique serial numbers for each Android device for use in unlocking an application. How could I do this? EDIT: The reason is I want to revamp a paid application and provide users who have paid for the old version, which will have a different package name, a way to obtain the full version by downloading an unlikable free version of the application. I would push an update to the old version that would generate and display the code that they could enter to turn the Free version into a fully functional version.

I have 2 Comcast POP3 emails setup on my phone to sync every 30 minutes. Randomly, the phone will stop receiving e-mails--I can't manually sync and end up having to turn the phone off and on (not pulling the battery) to receive e-mails again. This happened with my old BB too. Does anyone know of a reason why my phone stops functioning properly?

Jan 3, 2010So, this is a minor but VERY annoying problem on my Eris. I have a notification that is ALWAYS SHOWING!! It is a little black and white envelope. It is labeled "New Message(s)". It has the subtext, "You have an unread message".If I slide my Notifications down, and click the notification, it brings me to the HTC Message list. All of my messages are marked as read, so I dont know why the icon is still there.If I get a text, a totally separate icon, which is also a black and white envelope, but has a green circle with a number inside it showing how many unread messages I have. If I bring the Notifications down, and click the problematic Notification, "the first one I mentioned", the second said icon will go away, and the original will NOT go away. I can click "Clear Notifications" and it will go away till I get a new message, and then the problem is back.
