Is there a way to disable the phone from constantly downloading the market update everytime I uninstall it? Been runnin a ilttile low on the phones tiny internal memory.

Ever since the 2.2 update, or downgrade as I now call it, my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have no clue what's going on. I have very few apps. The only reason I got this phone was because I'd thought it would be better than my old Samsung Instinct, which also constantly experienced freezes.
Here's an in depth look:
Press top button, slide down to unlock but no response.
Home screen, will not respond to touch.
Placing a call to someone, and before they answer, another call will come in completely freezing my phone, hard reset required.
The only reason I switched from the instinct is because I was sick of the freezes. And this phone hadn't done it before the update. Now, since my 30 day return is over, and the update came after the 30 grace period, I'm stuck with this POS phone.
Do you guys have any clue about this?
If not, looks like I'm switching from sprint after my 12 year run with them.
Is there a 4G widget on the phone without downloading one from the market? I used to have one from CurveFish, but it disappeared and now they want .99 for it and I can not download it unless I am on the Sprint Network, where I live I am roaming.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently been getting into more security cautious habits with encryption and what not, due to this whole NSA/Big-brother is watching business... But I have a question (more may pop up as this discussion goes on).I am still getting a hang of all this encryption business. If I go ahead and do a full phone encryption with my GN2 where will I stand as far as backups to Dropbox/Copy/Google Drive/etc.?
I currently have photos and such backing up to copy, and I often move backups made through recovery to Dropbox and such. If I were to have photos automatically sync to copy or move system backups to dropbox wouldn't that render them basically useless as I am assuming they move out of the phone encrypted (not being decrypted as they exit).
The photos would be unusable anywhere besides my phone right? So moving them off my phone to share vacation photos for instance would be impossible, and if my phone were to crash they'd be irretrievable? Making the backup process pointless.
Wouldn't the back up be rendered useless as well, exactly when I might need said backup? If my phone were to ever crash or die for some reason, I would lose the encryption key, would even be able to do a full system restore through the recovery? It would seem that the encryption key wouldn't be kept with those back up files, so while it might place everything back in its correct place, it would still be unreadable. Or does it maybe keep the key in system files somewhere so that a full backup would restore the key as well?
I am also under the impression that I would not be able to flash through custom recovery either as the internal SD would be inaccessible from the recovery being it doesn't have the encryption key. I am currently running OmniROM and it is in a nightly stage still for my phone. I wouldn't be able to update nightly would I? I am assuming since it basically flashes/overwrites system each time, that I would be losing my encryption key and making everything besides system unusable then right?
And what about downloading ROMs to flash/update directly to my phone? As I download them from in browser or another app and they go to the default /downloads folder they would be encrypted. They wouldn't be accessible from there in recovery, but if I were to try and move them out of internal SD to the external SD they would retain encryption and still be inaccessible? So the only way to download ROMs and updates would be from PC and only move them to the external SD?
I don't have a windows box only linux is there anyway to update my X10 without downloading the updater app?

I'm on Verizon 3G with 700-900kb DL with the most recent version of the "official" Youtube app and the video will take 30 seconds to load, play for 30 seconds, load for 30 seconds, and play 30 seconds and on and on...
I even pause the video for 2 minutes and when I press play it still only plays like 30-60 seconds and stops to load.
I can play flash videos and they will only load once and play right through to the end but with this app it seems like they are purposely loading the videos in 30 second increments to discourage watching videos on 3G.
Is everyone else having this issue? Is there a better youtube app in the market?

4G constantly scans and will not connect. I live in Atlanta 4G was working. I have checked my Mac Address and it matches with the phone. Any help would be appreciated. I have searched but most articles I found were from July.
Also I am on a Mac, I am rooted via unRevoked and use Rom manager to load roms.
I went to download an app, WidgetLocker. I authorized the purchase, and went to the install page, it just locked up. Now when I go to download it, it just says" Authorizing Purchase"

Every time I go to download my photos from my phone (both SD card and internal), I end up downloading thumbnails and images from websites I've visited as well as people's avatars from foursquare. I end up having to delete hundreds of images every time I want to download my pix.
Any idea how to disable the downloading of the web stuff? (Can the phone differentiate web image from photos I've taken from the camera?) I've tried from both the phone side and the computer side and I can't figure it out. Also, is there any way to get my phone to stop storing these web images? I don't think I need them, do I? (I'm a newbie smartphone owner if you couldn't tell!)
I moved from the iPhone and apart from the fact I can't get paid apps I find I select a app to download and it takes ages to start downloading. I have even had app fail to even start. WTF Am I the only one with this issue?

I have downloaded apps from the Android Market, but last night and today, my phone will get into a state where I will select an app to download, it will tell me to watch the notification bar for download status, and nothing will happen. If I select the app in the store to look at the download progress, it just says: "downloading...." with the animated bar, but never downloads. I tried turning off the phone and turning it back on, and that seemed to correct the problem for one download, but then subsequent downloads won't start up. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am under the impression that Nandroid backup & restore completely wipes the system data and overwrites with a saved image of the Android OS with whatever was on the phone at the time of backup. I created a backup to my SD Card, installed an app (ROM Manager)--couldn't get it to work so I uninstalled it. I then did a restore on my previously saved backup and right after booting up, I see a notification, open it, and catch ROM Manager downloading again to, eventually, install itself.How does the market, or my phone, know that this app was previously installed? Is it saved to my Google account somewhere? Is the data stored on my SD Card? My Nandroid backup that was created without the app being installed shouldn't have this information still on it should it?

Occasionally it will download a app or two but then it just gets stuck and never will download anything. I'm guessing this has something to do with being on 2.2 then downgrading to 2.1. It is a google server issue or something on my phone?
