Android :: Use Window Transition Effects - No ROOT Needed

Dec 3, 2008

If you guys want your phone to be able to use transition effects, just like the ones on the Android SDK.
First go to the Android Market and search for "AppsInstaller". One whole word. Install, then proceed to download the APK files i have uploaded for you, APK Tools. Make sure you UNZIP them!

Copy the files you just downloaded to the root of your microSD Card. Run App installer and Look for Development tools. Install that. Click on allow then finish install. Then run the program Dev Tools.
Click on Development Settings and Change the following.

Windows animation scale to 1x
Transition animation scare to 1x
Light hinting

General :: Backup And Restore Data For Transition Without Root?

May 13, 2013

My dad just got himself a new phone and now it's my task to set him up with his apps on the new Phone. My trouble is that I can't find a solution that back up App AND Data.

I have always had my phones rooted from Day 1 so i had an easy Titanium Backup+Restore and don't know about non-root methods.

Rooting is not really an option as my dad won't let me because he thinks it will break everything : I searched and found Helium Backup which would be what i need, except that it only works on 4.x+

Any Root-free backup&restore for the Transition from a

2.2 Motorola Defy
to a
4.0/4.1 Motorola Razr i ?

Why doesn't android simply backup all your data along with your contacts etc...?

I found that the emulator version takes the implementations of the PhoneWindow. When the MidWindow implementations will be used? Also, I found that PhoneWindow handles the call settings implementation and the same is not there in MidWindow? Please someone help me pointing out the differences between both the policies and under which circumstances which one will be used.

Android :: Applying Effects To Camera Viewfinder

Dec 11, 2009

One approach I've looked at is to use the preview callback, asking for a JPEG buffer. Unfortunately, the HTC phones I've tried this on all call back at several second intervals and give me an NV12 buffer regardless of the pixel format you specify. (Anyone know the behaviour on a droid?) I can code my way around the NV12 hassle but I can't exactly do much when the callbacks are so seldom; I want around 10 fps.

The approach I was considering was making an opencore codec for mjpeg. Which leads me to two questions before I start:

1) can third-parties make and install opencore codecs, or is this strictly locked down? Is it to just drop an .so in the right folder, or?

2) do the HTC phones use the default encoders? (i.e. will using the same way the default opencore reference codecs get their pixel buffers work on the phone?)

This was fixed with "Multi-Touch Gallery for Droid" A facebook app that lets you check Live Feed and your Inbox.

Android :: How To Do Smooth Transition Between Video Segments

Oct 27, 2010

I am working on an porting an application supporting segmented video streaming to Android. For those who are not familiar with segmented streaming, it is when a complete video is divided into multiple segments. Each segment can then, for example, be encoded at different qualities to support different clients.

Anyway, my problem is that I am not able to get a smooth transition between segments. Currently, the only way I have gotten segmented streaming working, is to write the segments into independent, temporary files, and then load each file into the MediaPlayer once the previous has finished. This causes an interruption in playback between each segment, probably due to the I/O involved.

I have looked around for different solutions, among others, playlists and storing the videos directly in memory. However, none seem to work or be supported by Android. Also, I tried creating two MediaPlayer- objects and do something similar to double-buffering by preparing the next segment well ahead of the previous, but it only made the application unstable.

My question is therefore: Does anyone have any hints, tips or examples for how to do smooth transition between video segments? The segments I am working with are independent, so there is no dependency and they can be viewed as X number of independent video files.

Android :: How Can I Create Photo - Apply Cool Effects With Camera

Jun 11, 2010

I'd like to make an Android app that lets a user apply cool effects to photos taken with the camera. There are already a few out there, I know, but I'd like to try my own hand at one.

I have been googling and stack-overflowing, but so far I've mostly found some references to published papers or books. I am ordering this one from Amazon presently - Digital Image Processing: An Algorithmic Introduction using Java

After some reading, I think I have a basic understanding of manipulating the RGB values for all the pixels in the image. My main question is how do I come up with a transformation that produces cool effects?

By cool effects I mean some like those in these iPhone apps:

I already have quite a bit of experience with Java, and I've made my first app for android already. Any ideas?
