View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been on the fence about rooting my droid, and looking through these tutorials it looks simple enough.
1. What are Kernels and do I need them exactly
2. Do I need a specific ROM to overclock or will just a plain rooted phone work
3. Do I need a nandroid backup?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIf you guys want your phone to be able to use transition effects, just like the ones on the Android SDK.
First go to the Android Market and search for "AppsInstaller". One whole word. Install, then proceed to download the APK files i have uploaded for you, APK Tools. Make sure you UNZIP them!
Copy the files you just downloaded to the root of your microSD Card. Run App installer and Look for Development tools. Install that. Click on allow then finish install. Then run the program Dev Tools.
Click on Development Settings and Change the following.
Windows animation scale to 1x
Transition animation scare to 1x

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to drop and say thanks for all the great threads and guides here. The droid x was my first android phone and at the time "locked bootloader, efuse, etc" meant nothing to me so i got it. I do love my X and its been cool being in on the ground floor as stuff comes out, but now thats ive gotten into going beyond the standard user experience its kinda limiting.
I picked up a DINC off ebay kinda reasonably after selling my backup blackberry and a bunch of 360 games. Just came today and its been busy! thanks to the great info here, I rooted with unrevoked 3.21, s-off with unrevoked forever, and have been experimenting with different roms and kernels all day. Its been a blast.
Ive bootlooped a bunch of times but nothing a nandroid backup couldnt solve.
Until the X can offer what my new DINC does, I'm switching over to htc. Wish the screen was a tad bigger and had swype, but ill live!
Unless you want to pay $29.95 for a dock to rest your phone in while it charges, you can get all of the features with out the dock. Just install the Dockrunner app in the market. Its free. It will give you the alarm clock, weather report and options to play music, and slide show. Once you activate that screen it will lock you out from everything else on the phone. So you go to your Notifications panel and select Dockrunner again to deactivate it and it will send you back to your home screen again.

The adb commands were successfull. WHen I rebooted my droid it was bricked (well not really cause I did a Nandroid backup right before I did this) It was just frozen with the white Motorola logo. Perhaps I downloaded a bad 800 mhz evilboot8.img.

Whenever I check it, the widget shows the phone is at 550, unless I manually move the slider to 1200. Does this mean my phone's not really running at 1.2, or am I misunderstanding how the overclock process works? Also, is there a way to do some sort of speed test? (I don't have set cpu and I can't buy apps at the moment) I do know when i move my slider to 1200 the web seems a lot faster, but whether thats real or placebo is beyond me.
