Oct 22, 2010The SetCpu suddenly stop working with my Droid X 2.2 OTA. So I decided to troubleshooting by clearing the data, clearing the cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, un-rooting the device and re-rooting the device. I'm able to get other "Rooted Apps" to recognize permission ,but SetCpu wont even ask for permission during the installation process after picking "Auto Recommend". After "Auto Recommend" it just goes into the app and all I can see is a blank black screen. I'm able to launch the widget app once in a while but it seems like the program is working in the background. I have emailed the dev about this rare problem and sent him some logcat one being the installation process and the other one is adding the widget to the home-screen and then launching the app through the widget. I'll be including those attachment if someone with android code skills willing to help me solve this problem. Edit: I did a titanium backup of SetCpu when it was working fine 10/6/10. I did both the app +data restoration and on restart of the device it is able to ask for root permision and it shows the SetCpu bar notification icon. This tells me that the app is working in the background but when I launch it up all I'm able to see is a black screen.

Motorola Droid :: Default Web Browser - When Click Links In Non-default Browser It Doesn't Send Links To Default One
Dec 15, 2009I have installed Dolphin and like it, and I've made it my default browser, which is great. However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?

Aug 3, 2010I'm rather new to android programming and right now I'm playing with the media store for a personal test project. I've run into a couple double-edge problems..
I need to query the mediastore for a list of all music files, simple enough - but i need to restrict the results to certain folders only. I accomplished this (rather easily) using the SQL-*LIKE- where clauses and all's well on this aspect.
I now need a unique (if this were actually using SQL, I could simply use the DISTINCT modifier and be done with this) list of all artists. Now this is based off the songs in a given path. Therefore I cannot filter the list returned from querying the URI:MediaStore.Audio.Artists.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI, and adding in where clauses based off the file path as I did in the first step.
So, what this leaves me with is using my initial query and getting a cursor back then stripping the dupes from the cursor (which is where i am now - too slow, especially with 1000+ songs) - based on a query of artists instead of songs, obviously.
Is is possible to override the actual query that fills the cursor, maybe? As in: override the query and filter how the data is initially put into the cursor (remove recursive entries) and return the proper cursor immediately? Content providers and how they were never built with a distinct function is beyond me, but whatever. Is the returned cursor from a URI query command filled in a manner that can be overridden or not? That's what I'm unclear of at the moment on this. I would like to be able to wrap the getContentResolver().query(xxx..)) command directly to remove the entries on cursor fill, if possible - i do async queries and using a single query statement (well, one for the artist query) would be great.
My other alternative thought is to just preload the data and manipulate my view's data by creating a new cursor based off the preloaded dataset (cursor) - which may be the way to go, and if so - would a cursor be the best way to store this data? Also worried about ram with larger libraries.
Maybe there's simply a way to do a DISTINCT query on the URI - I just do not know. I've seen this question (or the ilk there-of) asked many times with no good answers that were meant for a URI as opposed to a SQL back-end.
Android :: Use Window Transition Effects - No ROOT Needed
Dec 3, 2008If you guys want your phone to be able to use transition effects, just like the ones on the Android SDK.
First go to the Android Market and search for "AppsInstaller". One whole word. Install, then proceed to download the APK files i have uploaded for you, APK Tools. Make sure you UNZIP them!
Copy the files you just downloaded to the root of your microSD Card. Run App installer and Look for Development tools. Install that. Click on allow then finish install. Then run the program Dev Tools.
Click on Development Settings and Change the following.
Windows animation scale to 1x
Transition animation scare to 1x
Light hinting

Apr 13, 2012With the newest Dolphin Browser update there is a key feature missing.
Normally if there is a link, in my case a podcast, and if you long press the link it pops up with a menu and one of the options is to "save link" which is basically the same as right clicking on a PC and saving the target as.

Jan 23, 2010Unless you want to pay $29.95 for a dock to rest your phone in while it charges, you can get all of the features with out the dock. Just install the Dockrunner app in the market. Its free. It will give you the alarm clock, weather report and options to play music, and slide show. Once you activate that screen it will lock you out from everything else on the phone. So you go to your Notifications panel and select Dockrunner again to deactivate it and it will send you back to your home screen again.

Motorola Droid :: Is Full Charge Needed Before 1st Use Of Droid?
Nov 10, 2009UPS just dropped off my Droid. Just plugged it in & it's charging for the 1st time. I haven't gone thru the initial setup or anything yet, because I've read that it needs to charge for 3 hrs before you do anything with it? Is this true?I need to call in the serial # for activation, but haven't yet. Is it cool to go ahead w/ the initial setup even though it's not fully charged up yet? Or will the battery be adversely affected? I'm wondering if some of the people complaining about battery life didn't let it charge fully before starting to play with it, as is recommended in the User's Manual.

Motorola Droid :: Dolphin Browser 1.2.99 APK File Needed (Market Place Broken)
Dec 6, 2009Marketplace thinks I have this application installed, but won't let me uninstall it. Rumor is that re-installing the APK file will fix it, but there is none to be had on the web. Anyone have the APK file for dolphin? It needs to be 1.2.99 (or later) because the package name was changed in that version.

Nov 24, 2009I just got back from a weekend in Julian and I was very happy with the quality of the pictures. Best "point and shoot" I have ever owned (not trying to compare it to a "real" camera). Is there a gallery here to post pictures? Or should we start a thread with links to Flickr or Picasa, et al, with Droid-taken pics?

Motorola Droid :: Is There Way To 'enable' Links In Messages Or Is User-error?
Jan 3, 2010ive been doing A LOT of reading these past few days and, along with the phone itself- im learning quite a bit. however, after a few searches, i was unable to find my answer-i use AOL as my email service. when i receive emails with web links in the email, im unable to 'click' the link. is there a way to 'enable' the links in the messages or is user-error?
