Android :: Removing Default Interpolator For Xml Based Animation Effects For Views

Apr 9, 2009

When ever I try to animate a view using a simple xml based animation, it seems to have default interpolator set of some kind as the motion is not truly linear.

Is there a way to set the default animation interpolator to linear and remove the lag in the start/end of the animation.

Android :: Animating Different Views During The Same Animation

Nov 10, 2010

Does anyone knows if it's possible to animate different views during the same animation: I have a linear layout containing 6 dices (each dice extends a textview) and I need to animate each dice to simulate a roll (each dice will rotate on itself). I know how to do this rotation on each dice by using 6 animations, but I want to group these animations in one, so that I would be able to add an animation listener to execute further instructions at the end of this animation. I tried with an animationset but didn't manage to do it.

Android : Way To Package ViewGroup Views - Animation

Feb 14, 2009

I have a few views and animations and I need to figure out a way to package them so I can use them throughout my app. I thought I should be able to use ViewGroup, however, things are getting a bit complicated as my animations need to repeat and to achieve that I have applied the technique with an AnimationListener posting to a Runnable when the animation stops so it plays again in a loop. Also they all have different startOffset values, and I'm not sure how a ViewGroup can handle that as well. What is the best practice for hadnling multiple views and animations?

Android :: ListView Animation Of Views Inside Adapter That Got Updated

Aug 29, 2010

Im using ListView to to show some custom data, once data is updated in the adapter i call notifyDatasetChanged(), so the view will get updated, all of this works well, my issue though is i would like to run an animation once only on items that got changed when the adapter was updated. currently i keep a copy of all the changed objects and i tried to animate the correct items through the getView() call.

However if i do it only once for every getView call then i see no animation most of the time on items that changed. if i continue to do so in successive getView calls i see animation on items that don not change as well and also the ones that changed get animated again and again.

Im guessing sometimes android calls the getView() for other reasons than showing the generated view immediately, and thats the reason it doesnt work if i do it once.

HTC Incredible :: Removing Boot Animation Completely?

Is it possible to completely remove the boot animation? I'd have to assume the phone would boot faster, and anyway, I don't need all these flashy things and sounds playing when I turn on my phone.

I thought about just removing the zip file thingy whose name I can't remember, but won't that just make it do the default animation?

Android :: Changing Displayed State Of Views Based On Parent ViewGroup's State

Aug 11, 2010

I have a compound UI component built up from a ViewGroup containing a number of TextView, ImageView etc. components. Many of these have StateListDrawables as their images/backgrounds. Is there any way of making them select from this drawable based on the state of the parent ViewGroup rather than the component itself? Ideally I want to be able to change the visual state of all children of the ViewGroup (text colour, image etc) based on the state of the ViewGroup, preferably without having to hook up complex logical code. This seems like a fairly common sort of requirement, so I was hoping it would be straightforward in Android - am I going to be disappointed?

Android :: Default Number Of Views Constructed For A BaseAdapter?

Jun 26, 2009

I've tried to describe this problem a few times, but I'll try again.I have a thread (not spawned from the adapter) which updates items in a List that a BaseAdapter child uses to populate its view. I am not adding things in the List from the thread, just modifying content. In any case, I have 6 rows visible at first on the screen. The thread pulls data from the network and updates them in 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 order. However, when 0 is updated, 5 mirrors its data on the screen briefly, then 1 is updated, 4 mirrors it, 3 is updated, then 4 is reloaded correctly, then 5, then 6. I am using the view holder/ convertView pattern correctly, as far as I can tell. How many views are created by default for an adapter? My guess is 3 based on what I see. Then, when getView() gets to index 4, 5, or 6, it correctly creates more Views and populates the right data. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Android :: Views And Their Child Views - How To Avoid The Ugly - Boxes - When Child Views In A View Has Another Color Than Background

Jan 6, 2010

I have a simple ListView and on that ListView I have placed a number of custom defined Views. The CustomView has ImageView and two TextViews.

The CustomView also has a "stateful drawable" as background, so that the background image (a 9-patch) changes if you press the Row in the ListView. When pressing the Row, the background image changes to a Red-ish thing.

The problem is that when the background changes from the default greyish, all the Views in the CustomView (ImageView and TextViews) still have their greyish background and thus creates very ugly greay boxes on top of the now redish background.

What is the best way to solve that problem? I hoped that such things were handled automatically (as it is done in for example .NET), but I was wrong it seems.

Android :: How Can Update The All The Views Inside A TabHost When Pressing On A ContextMenu Item From Within One Of The Views

Nov 16, 2010

I am implementing a music player application in Android. My play list selection screen is implemented as a tab selector widget which contains a ListActivity inside each of the tabs: Artist, Albums, Songs.
I want to update the ListView in each of the ListActivity when I delete an item from any of the lists.

i.e. When I long press an item in the Artists list a context menu is drawn with "Delete Artist"
And it should delete all the songs from this artist in the Songs ListView, delete all the albums by this artist in the Albums ListView, and finally delete the entry for the artist in the Artist ListView.

Each of the ListActivity has its own fillData() method, which updates the ListView when the button in the context menu is pressed.

How can I call the fillData() method of the Albums ListActivity after I update the ListView inside of the Artists ListActivity?

Android :: Switching Views With RadioButton And Saving Views In Bundle

Mar 6, 2010

I have the following XML code:.................

The idea is to change the views, whenever I press one of the radio buttons. When I press a button the first time everything works out fine, but the second time I press a button, I get an IllegalStateException, and I can't quite see why I'm getting this.

Also, the Activity seems to set all my global variables to null, which is why I have to create them every time I switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa. So I would like to know if there is a way I can save my views in the Bundle, or any other way in which I can permanently save my views, so I don't have to add or create them every time, I flip the phone. And whenever I flip the phone, it seems that it rereads the main XML file, causing the RadioGroup to be set to 2D even if the 3D button is checked. This is because I've said the 2D button to be checked from when the app is first created, but I would like to also save the state of that RadioGroup.

Is there any way to query a root view of an activity for all of its child views even before the root view or its children have been inflated? Android :: Animation.start - Or Animation.startNow - Does Not Start The Animation Immediately

Aug 30, 2010

I have a strange issue - from time to time the animation that should fade out my control (ImageButton) does not kick in immediately. I am using the fadeout animation to hide it and then in myListener on its end (onAnimationEnd) I put new resource as the image on the button.

Somewhere in my app code:

Animation a = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this,R.anim.fadeout); a.setAnimationListener(new myListener(location)); buttons[location].setAnimation(a); a.startNow(); // regardless if its start() or startnNow() it will work in most of the cases but not 100% reliable I actually can see in debug Log when its late, happens after few more clicks

Then in myListener.onAnimationEnd(Animation a):buttons[location].setImageResource(R.drawable.standard_button);

Seems there is a rule that the every 4th or 5th animation does not start ...

Android :: Applying Effects To Camera Viewfinder

Dec 11, 2009

One approach I've looked at is to use the preview callback, asking for a JPEG buffer. Unfortunately, the HTC phones I've tried this on all call back at several second intervals and give me an NV12 buffer regardless of the pixel format you specify. (Anyone know the behaviour on a droid?) I can code my way around the NV12 hassle but I can't exactly do much when the callbacks are so seldom; I want around 10 fps.

The approach I was considering was making an opencore codec for mjpeg. Which leads me to two questions before I start:

1) can third-parties make and install opencore codecs, or is this strictly locked down? Is it to just drop an .so in the right folder, or?

2) do the HTC phones use the default encoders? (i.e. will using the same way the default opencore reference codecs get their pixel buffers work on the phone?)
