Is there a (simple) possibility for turning the mobile network on/off with Java code?If so, for mobile service too?'Cause I'd like to make an app which turns the network on and service off (or the opposite).

I seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI alternate between two wifi networks on my HTC Desire running Android 2.2 ( I think!)On one network I need to specify the network IP/subnet/Gateway and so on, on the other network I can use DHCP.Is there any way to tell Android that whenever I connect to one wifi network it should use the static IP and on the other it should get an IP automatically?I am forever going into advanced wifi settings and changing them back and forth. I'd love for my phone to remember the settings used on each wifi profile.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero for the last few weeks and really happy with it. I friend recently got the Lg Eve and was looking at it. She wanted to turn off the Wireless Network to cut down on when it accesses the 3G network, but unlike the Hero, I wasn't able to find the Mobile Network setting under Wireless Controls.We took it back to the Rogers store to ask if he sorta blew it off saying she didn't need to turn it off and help her installed a counter to track her data usage.So is there a way to turn it off when it's not in use?

It still says ''turning on'' when i go into settings.I dont no if theres something wrong with the phone as i don't think its the network because i can still make calls and the bars are stuck on two.I'm on orange and they normally have good reception/network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Eris from Craigslist. It had 2.1 on it. I recently got my number ported and activated on the eris on pageplus. Although the weird thing, and this happened before the activation. Is after i used the wifi widget and the 3g turned off the mobile network wont turn on. I tried using the widget toggle as well as in the menu. Its just always stuck as " Turning On".Do i have to do anything to fix this? I thought i saw a thread about this the other night but now i cant find it. I also did a hard reset thinking that would fix the problem before i did OTA Activation.

So far, I have turned the phone off (had it powered down all night while I slept).
Removed the sim card.
Used the recovery options to clear the cache.
Simulated a battery pull.
Thus far, nothing has worked.
Does anyone know if there is an app to allow the user to select a specific UMTS/GSM band? If it isnt already supported, will it be supported?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with my Xperia Play. Any app involving the internet would force close after being on it for a certain amount of time, which was no big deal, I would just restart my phone. But then it started happening more frequently, and it would force close sooner, sometimes even force closing as soon as I entered the app. Then this morning, I found that my WiFi was off (which was weird because i don't turn off WiFi at home). I went into my settings to turn it back on, locked my phone, and went to do something else. When I went to check Facebook, I saw that the WiFi wasn't on. So again, I went into settings, but instead of just pushing "Turn on Wi-Fi", I went into "Wi-Fi Settings". I saw that I had lost all my saved WiFi networks (including my house), and it wasn't picking any up, even though I know that there are multiple in my area. I tried re-entering my home WiFi settings, but that still didn't work. I did a few more times, then when it still failed, I restarted my phone and tried again. Still nothing. Then I went out, and was still unable to pick up any WiFi, and any internet based apps still weren't working, even with 3G on.

I'll it admit that I'm a little puzzled after staring at the APN settings for a while and adding the ips etc still not getting any luck. 2degrees (my provider) have attempted ota delivery but no luck. Here are the settings:

Been running with my Droid now for 3 weeks and I'm finally going to start playing with running wifi at work (my cube and only my cube I have 3g issues ) and I connected to it a couple days ago. Our network admin in his infinite wisdom created a pass key that is like 46 characters long. So I entered it, and was connected. Fast forward to today, I enabled wifi again and tried connecting to the network and it asked me for the pass key again. Does it now save that? Is it supposed to? I would assume that would be a pretty big PITA that every time I want to connect to wireless network that I've connected to before it re-asks me my password.

Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
My Epic 4G just lost all connection to the internet about an hour ago. Out of the blue, so to speak. I was browsing, set it down, then when I used it again it wouldn't connect. My browser, facebook, and any other connection required apps throw error messages saying - "connection error", "no connection". I've reset the phone several times, and as far as for the network settings, everything looks set the way it always is. I have done nothing to the network settings/options to have accidentally messed it up myself. I am connected via 3G, and this network problem is new to me. This phone has been nothing but constant problems and this is the newest one in a long list.

Basically, which file edits the Mobile Network Settings options inside the Settings app? I tried using a different System.apk file with no luck. the options i need are still missing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm playing with the Hero and under mobile network settings, mode of operation you have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO only and 1X only. Does anyone know what Hybrid is? It's the default selection. Will selecting EVDO only help with battery life?
